  1. yeah mine sways pretty bad as well, when driving at speeds over 55mph i drive it like iam pulling a trailer so i dont start fish tailing down the freeway. I also have 32x11.50 2ply mud tires that seem to flex because of the mushey side wall.

  2. just my 2 cents

Sounds a little steep to me, but it could be due to your area. For reference, 2 months ago I bought a 95 pathy 4door, 4x4, 6cyl 5speed, 108k on the clock, in pretty great conditions for $3300, from a dealer no less. Id say if your really set on it offer $2300 and haggle from there.

have you tried kbb.com or nada.com? i know they aren't perfect but it can give you a ballpark. Is it modded in any ways that would add or detract to the value?

Yeah your right, I already own a 90 hardbody but its not 4x4, and the 4x4 4cyl 5 spd are hard to find. but your right i will ask if hell do $2300, Thanks

  3. Hi all

    I'm new here :)

Don't have a Pathy yet, but looking for one. Looking for a 94 or 95, with the purpose of converting the back into a camper - building an elevated platform at about window level to use as a bed, and space under it for storage. (rear seats will be taken out).

But, mostly just looking for advice on what things to look out for when looking over one for sale. I understand car mechanics reasonably well, just haven't dealt with Pathfinders specifically.

I'm looking for one with V6, 4x4, and 5speed. Price is not really an object, within reason. I'm aiming for something close to 100K miles. (I specifically do not want a newer one, I like the blunt nose :) Live in California, so rust is probably not a big issue.

So, would appreciate any tips of the collective wisdom here: what are the common problem, and how to look for them. Also while I'm at it, two specific questions

    - is it normal to have some oil stains on the bottom of the front/rear diffs?

    - (noob question warning) front hubs - lock automatically once truck is put in 4WD Hi or Lo; need to be reversed to unlock, can be driven in 2H without unlocking, but better for transmission to unlock. Correct?

    Cheers!

Yeah rust in the frame is the biggest issue, make sure the trans is shifting fine, I found one last year but was not easy(94 4x4 5pd.)

swap the manifold for a Doug Thorley and your straight.

  4. with all the information i can find the 3.0 in the pathys and the 3.0 in the 300zx are almost completly alike? would it be possible to bolt on a set of 300zx manifolds/headers and turbo to a pathfinder?

    I would like a 4x4 2.4 L 4 cyl turbo , I think it would be great, 250hp to the wheels, :chairfall:

  5. not quite sure if i follow 100% but ASAIK you can swap the engines and tranny's together but you have to also figure out the wiring or swap harnesses as well..you may want to check local DMV laws on this as well prior to doing the work...and i just saw your in CA so that could be kinda tricky and thats y my 87 with the 95 swapped in still has NC plates...just simply b/c I dont want to deal with their BS

check out the swaps section on 4x4parts I think you may find more info there

Yeah, That could be a problem with california's great smog laws. I just think it would be great to own a 90's long bed extra cab 4x4 with a 2.4 banger.

My 2wd hardbody pick up just turned 300,000 today and still running strong. my 94 path 4x4 has 143,000 on the clock and still sounds and runs great,

  6. What intake do you have? stock airbox and regular filter?

Airhog or K&N filter may help, (I am going with 2.5, FM40 and thorleys; on the intake side I have an ARB snorkel (still in damn boxes!) which if I understand right opens the intake hole from 2" to 3" or close to it. (More in; More out theory)

I had the FM 50 on my now broken framed 95; (not loud enough) so FM40 & a high flow cat fer sure :crossedwires:

I am running the stock air filter, dont want the cone style /worry about water/dirt getting sucked in to the engine when wheelin

so your saying the drop in filters help a little ??

I would like to go with a snorkle one day.
