  1. That's right, she needs a new home. I'm moving overseas end of Sept. Located in south eastern SK, Canada. 5sp manual. 295,856kms/183,837miles. The Good: 3rd owner since 2010; serial numbered Chinook model; Aug 2019 4 Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar side-walled tires 245/70R16 (US penny test shows 50% of remaining tire tread); Aug 2019 Gabriel® Ultra ReadyMount™ Front Driver & Passenger Sides Fully Loaded Twin-Tube Strut Assembly; 2014 Oct brand new Nissan clutch & flywheel from Japan; drives straight as an arrow; Thrush muffler & exhaust. The Bad: fuel gauge is always full hahaha; fuel tank intake neck needs to be replaced, has some small holes in the upper intake pipe; engine check light blinking, suspected timing chain issue (a plastic flashlight was left hanging by the timing belt overwinter - flashlight housing got chewed up - wellintended friend's help the cause)... local mechanic said compression low on 6th cylinder. Highway driving doesn't produce any surges or lapses in engine. Local mechanics are, well, they just are or aren't - enough said. The Ugly: Rusting along front & back of rear wheel wells The Sad: me, the owner having to part with this trusted vehicle that has never given me a moment of grief in the 12 years I've owned her. I decided against investing anything in for repairs due to the fact that I am going overseas and taking her with me is cost prohibitive. The Hope: that there is someone out there in this group that wants to come get her and either give her a re-fresh or use her good parts. I'm asking $1000CDN or best offer as I know the value of the good parts and increasing lack of availability. I'd really hate to see her go to the local scrap yard. She has to be gone by end of Sept 2022. Talk to me. Enjoy your day and happy miles! I can't seem to add pics here so they are on my post in Vehicles For Sale - 2004 SE Needs New Home

  3. Amazing what happens when a Prairie girl digs her heels in... Not one of the 6 12mm bolts left. The end of one was still in the differential flange that got drilled out. Its been rebolted on with new bolts, washers & lock tite (that should be fun to deal with when the time comes) & there apparently is a vent hole at that flat face so thats where the grease came from. As if. There was more b.s. going on in that encounter than a years full at a stockyard. The truck drives fine & I know what the symptoms of a CV axle on its way out acts like. The Nissan service shops in Alberta are only to happy to answer a Ladys questions. This forum is a God send. Thankyou too Hararish! Enjoy your day!
  4. Anyone ever experience grease leaking from the axle flat front face with cv boots intact & excellent condition? Somehow the bolts from axle to diff flange came out & sheared another off leaving its end in the diff bolt hole. The mechanic is telling me the entire axle has to be replaced as the flat faced end of the axle is oozing grease. When the disconnect happened of course I heard it & pulled immediately into a parking lot. Turned the wheels so I could inspect. I saw the result. Not a bit of grease on the diff side & dont recall seeing any grease anywhere ????. So from why Ive described... any insight apart from an attempt to get the shaft... pardon the pun. Thanks in advance.
  5. Oil change not the issue... But thanks for the thought.
  6. I run regular fuel. That's what it's called in west Canadian provinces. I replaced plugs with NGK's but the ticking sound started about 1500kms before that. Plugs have made a slight difference & as posted earlier, put Seafoam in a full gas tank & have used 1/4 of the tank. Perhaps too soon to see if any gunk has been cleaned off??
  7. That does sound like preignition aka "pinging" ... well, not literally sound like since we're trying to diagnose by way of text But here's what it sounds like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xTWHJADFe8 The video describes this as detonation/knocking, but when an engine does that it sounds almost like a diesel engine. The rattling/pinging sound is preignition and can be caused by deposits or too-hot spark plugs. Detonation/knocking can be caused by bad gas or fuel that doesn't have a high enough octane rating for the compression ratio (and/or boost if it's forced induction). Either can be caused by ignition that is too advanced, depending on how too-advanced it is. Heat is another factor that can cause either. No codes run. Wouldn't have a fuzzy clue of octane levels. There is no lack of power. Started on a 3000km round trip, so several fill-up locations. My computer skills do not extend to taking & posting videos on U-tube. Thanks anyhow.
  8. Almost reminds me of a rattling sound & yes, metal. It only happens at the START of acceleration in the lower gears & as speed increases it stops. If I let rpm's decrease (take foot off accelerator pedal) then punch it it rattles only until rpm's increase. Mechanically inclined friend calls it pinging if that's of any help.
  9. Hi All..had a look around the site & can't see this addressed anywhere for 04's so here's hoping there's help within The Forum. Have had plugs changed & put Seafoam in gas tank. Location: Saskatchewan, Canada Mileage: 240,000km Plugs changed: 239,000km Ticking started: 238,000km Ticking sounds only in 1st gear upon acceleration & then stops. Then in 2nd gear upon acceleration. Seafoam: put in fuel tank at 240,000km & has improved slightly in the first 1/4 tank used. Would like to hear from others on their experiences & fixes. Thanks in advance.
  10. The finale...got my truck back on the road & getting used to the new clutch haha. Thanks to everyone who contributed their time & information... What a great forum!!
  11. Thanks Bushnut...it's all fixed & back on the road with new rubber as well. Thx for your reply!
  12. Well lo & behold guess what showed up yesterday at the dealership?? A brand new Nissan flywheel!!! Saw it come out of the box with my own 2 eyes. Incredible shipping time to be sure however I have a feeling it came off a local dusty part shelf. Never mind, it's here & now the job can get finished & I can back behind the wheel. A big thanks to everyone here who took time to post info & advise. Enjoy your day & the folks in it!
  13. SkiBumBrian....Ummmm can't seem to find the member you suggested in the Member listing. Yes, checked my spelling three times?
  14. Thx for the info! Yes, it is the transmission front seal & rear engine seal point. I will still attempt to source a new flywheel so thanks for the member to contact. Enjoy your Sunday!
