Can't leave park unless I stick a thin stick (I use a tire pressure end from 7-11) it's been like this for months
If I wanna leave park I have to stick the stick into the shift lock each time
Any hacks to this ? I'm not very handy, how expensive of a job would this be? I'm sure it's just a buste spring or something
-----
Also , my 2004 is nearing 100k miles (I'm at 96k now )
WhAt type of maintence shoul I do soon? Spark plugs? New brake calipers? I changed my trans fluid at 90k and that eliminated a mild trans shutter at highway speeds so all set there.
Think I need to replace my muffler again smh, any great pathy mufflers for good price? I changed it at around 82k and was changed when I got it at 50k

Omg your 98 pathy looks amazing!!
98 is my favorite year, I had a 98 prior to my 04 and it was such a beast!!! I hit a street sign one time in it and destroyed the sign and just the tiniest little dent on the front grill of the pathy
98s are tough as hell, I'm actually looking for one on CL for 500 as well with low miles since I might sell my 04 this fall and buy a newer civic/accord possibly

Thank you all so much
Checked my fluid today with the dip stick and it was still redish with yellow/brown tint to it, didn't notice any medals on the stick or napkin
I called a local transmission shop that's highly reputable and told him my situation
Said as long as it's still redish he will change it and the filter, no flush. Just a change of fluid and filter.
Quoted me at $200 and again this shop has nothing but great reviews
Should I go do it in the near future?
Call my regular mechanic and see if he's cheaper or go with the specialists?

I looked up videos of shuddering and that's exactly what my pathy is doing however not nearly as loud or often as the videos I watched
Quieter, lasts a second then usually goes aways for a few mins
But that is exactly what it seems like

Okay I will do this if needed thank you! I will tell my mechanic since I'm getting new rotors and brakes up front next oil change I will add this to the list. There is a difference between flushing and simply changing the oil. A transmission shudder is exactly the symptoms that you stated. If it is the problem and you do not do anything, you will eventually kill your transmission, so for me it makes no doubts you should try to save it and change the oil and filter. There is still about 50% of the oil that will still be in the torque converter and will mix with the new oil.
With this you will see if it gets better or not....
Go watch transmission shudder videos on youtube and see if your issue is the same... You will eventually have to change your trans oil....
However until then should I try adding an additive for now? And see if that works?

I've heard changing the trans fluid at this stage can possibly kill the transmission tho ? Should I keep the old stuff in it or have it flushed?

I've only noticed it at higher speeds on the highway , I'll try to take notice of the road conditions more and also try to notice if it happens at lower speedsMines does something similar on the interstate.. I'd say 20hz, metallic vibration. Mine is a bushing somewhere that's gone. I'd say about every half mile or so and in every curve there is a slight change in the texture of the cement and it causes harmonic vibrations in my suspension. There is one particular curve that causes the vibration to become loud and less uniform. This doesn't happen at all, never, on blacktop curves, even at highway speeds. It does however happen in some parking lots at very slow speeds if the texture of the cement is just the right roughness. It should be noted that the same problem area makes a single noticeable metallic clank if my trans isn't warm enough for lockup yet and I let off the gas at 60mph and up. I might also have wheel bearing issues..
Does your issue ever flare up in certain areas? Take notice of exactly where you are and your speed at the place where the vibration occurs and try to replicate the issue. That should tell you whether or not you are experiencing harmonic reverberations caused by the road.

Currently at 87,500 miles

I've never changed it Since I got it with 50k miles and i don't believe it was ever changed prior to thatWhen is the last time you changed your transmission oil ? This sounds like trans shudder...

Yes off the top of my head I'm pretty sure I hear it click when I hit the pedalDo you hear the solenoid click when you step on the brake pedal? The pin may be sticking.

Feels like it comes from the rear

When on the highway once in a while I'll feel like I'm going over those little mini white speed strips you see coming down big hills.
Very minor feeling and lasts about 1 second then goes away and will happen every 3-4 mins or so when going 60-70 mph
04 pathfinder
Anyone know what it could be? Hopefully not a tranny issue
-
Only happens while in park about 10% of the time, but when it happens it happens over and over till the next day

Really annoying and have seen it's common I
In nissans
If I pump the brakes nothing, I have to pull up the ebrake and hit the brakes a few times and it will usually unlock..
Lately I've been just jamming my tire guage stick down the shift lock hole to shift if needed but again, super annoying.
Only have 87,500 miles so kind of frustrated..
Is it just a bad spring Inside? Bad wire?
I'm really not a handy man so anyway to fix this easily without having to take everything apart? My break lamps work btw

Thank you!To answer the OP, 105 load index is just over 2000 #s. Should be plenty.
I'm tempted to get some really high grade tires but the inner cheap In me is tempted to buy the same chinese tires again for half the price
-
Btw I don't tow anything. And I don't usually carry much cargo besides my fat ass and my GFs fat ass
-
I have some westlake su391s on right now which are super cheap $275 for a set of 4 if anyone needs some new rubber
Have 18k on them and outside of some minor wear on the fronts, and a few little cracks are and there the tires are fine
However I ran over a glass bottle and there's a inch long gash in my tire. It's not leaking air but I'm ready to slap some new higher grade tires on especially for my Miami trip coming up
I plan on getting Bridgestone H/L Alena Plus tires.
They have 80k mile warrantee and great reviews for highway.
The size I'm looking at is 245/65/17H 105
Now clearly I don't need an H speed rating lol but I don't mind it even tho I'll never get close to 130
My question is. Is a 105 load index high enough? And is it more then high enough?
My current chinese tires are 107 an I can't find anything about the stock index
Only reason why I ask is 105 seems to be the lowest load index I'm seeing on tires this size.
Thanks pathy fam

So far sounds good guys. I love my pathfinder. Before this one I had a 98 all black with over 240k miles on it. Barely had issues, was rusted up
The ass tho and looked like crap but I swear it was even more bad ass then my 04 which has more power yet the 98 felt stronger and smoother.
Keep it coming family , I love these vehicles!! They have serious off road ability even stock and reliability as my 98 proved to me, just never drove so far in one befofe always used a honda for road trips
Besides the putrid gas mileage I love this car
One negative about the 04 LE is the side airbags create a bit of a blind spot, the 98 had amazing sight all around but not a big issue .
My mechanic says I need new routers with breaks but I think I just need break pads, routers came new when I bought it at 50k miles.
I had cheap chinese tires put on at 70k and they are already wearing a bit, maybe I'll invest in fresh rubber for the trip but id rather not. Just not a fan of these Tires, will get a rotation with my next oil change (due for one) and then make a decision on the breaks.
Car could also use a nice detail, my glacier white looks off white now.
Also will be taking this ride in the summer not now.

Hello been a while. I bought my white pathy LE in September 2014 with just 50k miles on it even!! For 8,500 dollars.
Haven't had any issues besides exhaust, breaks are due for a change soon. No problems besides squeaks when it's wet for some reason and my spare fire dangles loose.
Any tips for this long drive? My 2014 CRv would be better for this trip but won't be available that week due to it being used for my job. That gets 26 mpg and cruises at 80 mph no problem
Anyway, what tire pressure is ideal for the 2,800 mile trip or so? Also any other tips to max out my mileage?
For some reAson I'm only getting 14-17 mpg and I'm currently at 87 k miles
will it make it? Should I be worried about the pathy holding up for that drive? Can I somehow squeeZe out 18mpg? Or more?
Also my pathy doesn't really like going faster then 70-80 mph I can tell she is very uncomfortable cruising at speeds higher then 80-90 especially for distance. The CRv can cruise at 90 at 2krpm, pathy goes around 3200 rpm at 80 mph. Then again the pathy is a beast vehicle used in war zones.
Any tips family?

If I take it to a nissan dealership will the fix it?Best you can do at this point is wait for your VIN to be called if it's affected...and drive safe.

I'm about to get my trans serviced/or fluid change real soon.
Shoul I take it to a chain like sears or midus? Or a local trusted shop ?
Anybody else have the shifter locked in park?
