  1. Finally got time to tear it apart last night. The bolts were not tightened. Such a stupid error. Cleaned everything up, got the pins back in, and put it back together. I runs but has a slight chatter from the passenger side.

But I am still at this point $1700 cheaper than the dealer. So I am going to order a few more items for her.

  2. So I replaced the timing chain ( primary and secondary chains), timing guides, timing tensioners, all the gears, water pump, thermostat, all my hoses, spark plugs, oil filter, and of course Royal Purple oil.

Got everything back together and she started really rough and ran for about 5 seconds and died. Started it again same deal. I realized I forgot to put the air box top on and air intake piping. When I tried to start it again it just turns over.

I have swapped the relays in the IPDM, same issue

I turned the key on and pressed the door light switch 10 times, it cycles everything which I read that means the IPDM is good.

I disconnected the battery and tried every computer reset I could find.

Pulled a plug out and set it against the timing cover, no spark! I have been over every connection in the engine compartment and could find anything suspicious, so I called a mechanic friend over and he checked everything he could.

Guys I'm lost confused frustrated please help me before I lose my mind. Everything lined up perfectly when I replaced the chains and gears.

  3. Thank you guys for chiming in. The reason for the Path over the X is passenger seating. I drool over the Pro4X. But I have gone a different route, I am finishing up the bumpers I designed for my Jeep and will sell it. I have also sold some bumpers to local Jeep guys.

My brother has picked me up a Ford Excursion I will start to build over the next couple years.

    Alaska here I come!!!

  4. I have sold the my mud truck, and have been doing a lot of trail riding in the Jeep lately. Which has got me doing a lot of reading about overlanding (expedition portal). I can not do much of that with my 2wd pathy, and the YJ will not fit family and gear.

So the question is... If I bought wrecked pathfinders and parted them out, keeping what good parts I need, how hard would it be to make mine 4wd? Everything should swap right in, correct?

The reason for doing it this way is I think in the end it would not cost me anything to build what I want.

  5. Friends,

I need some assistance. On My 2008 it came with 265/60-18, and I want to go to 275/65-18. I don't have any suspension accessories (i.e. level kit or lift kit) just replaced the stock shocks at 100K with Bilstein 4600's. Will I have an issue? or should I go 265/65-18? I will be getting the BFG KO2 in LT format. To which I'm thinking of adding the level kit from PRG and air bags (just to support the rear)

The Iroks were a 265/75/16, I posted the wrong size in my first post. I have never had any trouble with tires rubbing

  6. How much did you pay for 4 tires?

    149 per tire.

5000 miles on the tire, so I guess I will give an update. I have not driven my pathfinder for the last 1 1/2 months due to the fact the tires are separating and the center tread is falling apart. At first I was told it was due to an aggressive driving style, but once the manager of Discount Tire looked at them he said no tire should come apart like that. 3 weeks later Interco was nice enough to let us know that they no longer stock that size tire, even though they had already given us an order confirmation. After listening to a ton of middle man excuses for a week and a half I called Interco, and they agreed to replace the Iroks with a new set of Trxus m/t.

The trxus will be my last set of swampers to run after this ordeal.

  7. I had to let a couple psi out of them, they were not running flat, we started at 38psi and I aired them down to 35psi. But like I said I love the way they talk to me going down the road. In fact the kids have asked why I wont turn the radio on. Let me know what yall think.

  8. Well the LongTrail T/As wore out, and I just had to replace them with some Swamper IROK NDs. I went with the 275/75/16 since it is still stock. Man I must say I love the way the talk to me. I will upload photos tomorrow.

  9. Welcome!! One question how come you chose the 2wd over the 4wd? Just curious.

I am going to bag it on some 22"s. No, No I am not!

It was for fuel mileage, and am really pleased I average 17.8 around town. I have a 96 F250 ' Big Red' that we abuse off road. This will be my daily kid/canoe hauler. But I want to built it like a prerunner.
