1989 SE 4X4 3.0L V-6 Automatic tranny and hubs. White, two-door, needs TBI injector, headliner, tranny work and alternate cooler, timing belt/water pump/thermostat/cam seal maintenance, tires, detailed in and out. Starts, runs well, cold a/c converted to 134A, but no motion in any gear. The price was right.

  1. Thank you, kind sir!
  2. I searched "Nissan Pathfinder Fuel Injection": https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=nissan%20pathfinder%20fuel%20injector&safe=off
  3. Can anyone decipher this, and, if so, is it applicable? THX! http://www.240edge.com/manuals/89-90_240sx/auto_tra.pdf
  4. Thanks! Besides RHD, how do our trucks differ between the AU and US?
  5. Dead before purchase. Not dead, really, disabled, handicapped, maybe, but engine and accessories work. Is there a FSM online? Thanks!
  6. ^^^ Thanks! I haven't lived in snow country for many years, drove a VW beetle (smooth underside) when I did, used 6:50x15 snow tires on rear. I thought a heavy vehicle like our Pathfinders would just break through or pack down snow, and the bumper and undercarriage blast away any snow between the axles in snow up to bumper height or so. Didn't think another inch or so of clearance (if a 32 or 33" tire was used) would be crucial. Skid plates? For a WD -21? Tell us more.
  7. Why lift a snow machine and raise the center of gravity? Won't offset wheels create wheel bearing and turning radius issues? Why not narrow Blizzaks on stock steelies?
  8. " 3' " That's quite a lift, alas, my wife is but 60" tall. I've had to actually get air to experience that kind of ground clearance. I've never had more than 35" tires with 20" of travel and 17.5" ground clearance. And that was not a Pathy.
  9. I just think wide tires are overrated. A long footprint aids off road traction (with low centrifugal force loads) just fine. What advantages do 32's offer over 31's, in light of disadvantages such as overall gearing, increased unsprung weight, rotational issues, etc.? Does a half- to three-quarter increase in ground clearance make a major difference? In what terrain? TIA.
  10. Anybody making 33/9:50x15 anymore? BFG did in A/T and M/T. Had a large footprint at real low pressures.
  11. When I've had clutches go bad before, there was warning by the presence of slippage and heat. Report says none, just lost drive to wheels "like I'd thrown a switch." Can the often faulty "Line pressure valve solenoid" be the culprit here? If a tranny loses line pressure, will it all but "freewheel"? I don't know much about trannys. TIA.
  12. More pics: That tire is one of a fresh pair on rear, a "Vigorous" by "HI FLY." Never heard of that before.
  13. Just bought a 1989 SE 4X4 V-6, automatic, 187K on the odo. Previous owner reports that he was driving, in "Drive" and lost all drive, no reverse, either. Fluid looks/smells fresh, red, unburnt and full. Parking pawl works, as does neutral. Towed it home. Where do I start? Thanks in advance.
  14. Howdy, I'm SAR, just bought my first Pathfinder, a 1989 SE 4X4, 3.0L V-6, automatic tranny and hubs. I live in the Upper Sonora Desert. I have an old Scout, but my wife wanted something with a/c and p/s. Both work well on this new-to-us truck, but tranny has a problem: Previous owner says he was driving along, in "Drive," when he lost all drive. No reverse, either. "Park" works, tranny fluid full, red, and unburnt, no sign of coolant. Could this be a "Line Pressure Valve Solenoid" problem? If so, did Nissan offer a $140 repair/replace kit, and is it still available? Any other tips welcome. Thanks in advance.
