  1. Hey guys, I am new to the site. I just thought I would say hello. I have an 88 pathy with a 3" suspension lift. I used to wheel quite often, though never anything crazy. I've had issues with my steering that has sidelined me for nearly 2 years while waiting for parts from calmini. I finally found a thread on here with great info on alternative parts so hopefully I will have this thing trail ready again very soon! I have 2 quick questions (yes I read the common problems thread). You guys mention that its common to have issues with the fuel gage and suggested buying a new cluster, but is that only if the gage doesn't work at all? mine intermittently works and stops working. ideas? Second, I am developing rust under the backseat, another common problem mentioned. I don't do any welding, nor have I done any body work before. What is a good way to stop the rust from spreading? can I just spray some sort of rust inhibitor on it? will rust inhibitor actually stop it or just slow it? the spots of rust are probably less than 1" in diameter from what I remember, but there are several of them. Thanks guys!
  2. Lots of good information on this thread. This is my first post on this forum. I started an account immediately after reading every post on this thread. I stumbled onto it after searching for an alternative to the calmini steering kit. I had it on order for 1 year, then cancelled my order in frustration after not receiving parts. Then I decided to order again (not sure why) and have been waiting about 4 months. Still no parts. Can you guys critique the solution I have decided on? I have a 4x4parts.com 3" suspension lift kit and I only have 31" tires on it. Of course my CV's are shot, my ball joints are shot, I get mad play and towing of my tires whenever its in four wheel drive and is certainly uncontrollable when there is snow on the ground, and my overall steering feels extremely loose during everyday driving on dry roads. I burn through 1 tire every 2 months or so right now because no matter how slow I take a turn my tires squeal as if they aren't turning quite far enough. I noticed issues about a year and a half ago like I said, and it has gotten progressively worse since I've been waiting on my freaking parts. I know almost nothing about working on cars, and I do some four wheeling, but nothing that is too crazy (just to give you a little info about me). mostly my four wheeling is done to get me to a sweet lake to fish. from what I have read I am gathering that to be safe it would be a good to go with a grassroots centerlink (it seems to be the easiest one to locate), buy the 4x4parts.com steering enhancement package, replace my CV's, idler arm, TRE's, and ball joints all with stock components, get an alignment, and call it good for the next 5+ years. Im just tired of dealing with issues. Does that sound like it will fix my issues or do you think I need more or less? Will all of these components be compatible? Guide me please! oh and also, im not sure if I just missed it but what are the AC kits you guys are talking about?
