  1. Ok, this is the kind of info I needed. There is nothing worse than getting your vehicle apart and discover you need aditional hardware or specialty tool to install the 'kit'. Any other pitfalls I should be on the lookout for with either the Calmini or AC SL kits? Thanks,
  2. My '87 Pathfinder is in need of a lift. I am considering either the Calmini or AC lift kits. Can I still use my new 31x10.5s? Will the kits really include everything that is needed or will I be surprised by having to purchase additional hardware such as brakeline extensions, etc? I have average mechanical abilities with appropriate tools, can this lift be completed on a Saturday? Thanks, this site is great!
  3. My call is N6VMO. The '87 PF sports a Yaesu FT-2200 2M FM rig.
  4. That is what was causing my problem, the battery fusilbe link. I found it corroded and broken down near the bottom of the battery tray. I measured voltage at the fuse panel and found only 2.3 volts, while the battery measured 12.6 volts. Re-terminating the fusible link, installed a terminal block on the fender wall and prepped battery/fuse cable. The PF came back to life. Thanks 88pathoffroad. This site is great.
  5. Parked my '87 PF for abouyt 30 minutes. Came back and it failed to start, no relay clicks, no headlights, no tail or interior lights, no power at all. Battery is brand new and charged, verified this with voltmeter. My Ham radio, which is powered directly off the battery functions fine. Everything else electrical will not power on. Checked fuses and they were all good. Reseated relays in engine compartment and under dash. No help. Cleaned the already pritine battery terminals, no help. Checked for loose connectors, found none. To humor myself, I tried to have it jump started, same symtoms, turn key and no power. Called AAA and waited for 90 minutes for them to arrive. Before putting it on the AAA truck, I tried one last time to start it and it came to life. So, now I have a very intermittant problem to try and troubleshoot. I can not trust my normally trustworthy PF until I can solve this problem. Anyone had this happen to them? Any suggestions? I do have a Chiltons manual and have been looking for probable causes in the schematics. Hmmm...Saftey Relay??? Thanks,
  6. Thanks for the tips guys. Yes, if it is the water pump, I'll change the timing belt too. John
  7. I know a coolant leak is not normal. Maybe I should have phrased that question better. Is this normal or known failure in a Pathfinder?
  8. My '88 SE V6 has developed a small coolant leak somewhere under the outlet flange. It is very difficult to locate the source. But, it does stop leaking shortly after the engine warms up. Is this a normal issue with Pathfinders? Thanks. N6VMO
