Gotcha, yeah mine looked pretty poor but I just cleaned it all up and even with the rotted out brackets/ grounding strap mine still fires right up and runs every day. Might test the coil?

Think that grounding strap is for the coil, mine was in similar shape and I was having similar issues. Replaced the coil and it seemed to solve the problem... The thing circled in red is the ignition control module. How long does it run before it craps out, when I was dealing with it it would stop giving me spark after the truck heated up.

Check for corrosion on maf and injector plugs, could also be a wiring issue.

Did it throw any codes? Also worthlooking at the wiring and harnesses for the injectors (MAF wiring as well).

Problem may not be injector, have you checked codes yet? That rev limit is limp mode, I have had that happen and had issues other than injectors.

I use rough country UCA's I like them, and they come with grease fittings.

Nice job I need to do my timing on my 3.0l also but i don't want the bend a rod and blow my motor. I need to come up with 900 to get her retimed and new water pump and belts. I can do the water pump and belts but timing this motor is a not fun. I might need to do the distributer also
As long as the old belt is intact you will be able to just do a new timing belt as long as you follow the instructions and get things lined up/count teeth and set the tensioner correctly you should be good to go. It is easy as long as internals are not jacked up via broken belt etc.

Ran it through DEQ/smog... and it PASSED! Six Months of tinkering and troubleshooting in my free time pays off!

Zombie'ish thread update... haha... Anyways I cut the flanges off the old cat and made an extension that just bolted up to cover the difference. Not pretty but it works fine.

Fabricated an extension for my "bolt on" catalytic converter using the flanges from the old cat. Installed it all, now to see if it will smog. Oh and adjusted timing to spec.

Very nice, me too, I don't care for the pro- game at all. Spurrier is a hell of a coach, I found myself routing for them a couple of times last season.

When sometimes you just have to Jiggle things a bit to get it running again. I use a chunk of 4x4 post to hold my hatch up too haha.
