  3. That is where my knowledge is limited. I think if you were to just drop one in you would want an xterra/frontier 3.3 instead because of the accessory locations. Do you want to keep AC or not? If not, you can just drop an xterra/frontier one in I believe. If you want the AC you would need someone re-route your AC lines to match that AC compressor from the 3.3 (I THINK)
  4. What is the easiest way to go about this? Basically at the moment i'm looking for the easiest way without cutting anything (on my end). Machine the vg33 crank snout to fit the vg30 pulley then use the vg33 oil pump. Now which water pump do I use? Or will I have clearance issues with other parts no matter what?
  5. From what i've been reading, almost everyone does the swap differently. Some people want to keep all of their old vg30 parts just because maybe they have 5 starters and 3 oil pumps laying around for that motor. Others just throw it in and don't care about keeping the AC or not. In my case, id rather use all my old 3.0 stuff. So i'm just machining the 3.3 crank to work with the 3.0 oil pump and pulleys so i can keep all my old accessories. I was going to swap in my 3.0 crank so I wouldn't have to do any of this but since i'm doing a vg34 build I would need to get my crank rebalanced with the vh45 pistons. Talking to Steveo, he told me it would probably be cheaper to balance the 3.3 than the 3.0 because the 3.3 will take less work to balance. There's a lot too it but it isn't complicated. Headers will work but you would need to enlarge the holes on the headers to fit the 10mm exhaust stud from the vg33 heads.
  6. Yeah i have considered using the vg33 crank + adaptor but I think I will end up just using the vg30 crank and swapping everything including the water/oil pumps. Really easy swap for me because I have limited knowledge and fabrication skills.

  8. Oh really? That's interesting, i knew the accessories were in similar locations but thought there was tiny differences. Would all the AC lines work?
  9. Heya Steven, So if i'm using the vg30 water pump but the vg33 oil pump do i just mis match timing covers from both motors or will that cause other issues? I should probably wait till you tear into yours soon so this could be answered easily hah!

Sorry to turn this into a question thread, but, if I end up getting this crank adaptor and use the 3.3L crank + oil pump, what would be the best simplest way to complete the install of accessories and the water pump etc? Do I have to use the 3.3L water pump or can I use a 200sx/300zx pump that is smaller? Just want to know what timing cover parts i'll be using and would rather do less cutting/bracket making since I don't have very much knowledge regarding that stuff.

I'm still not sure if i'm going to end up using the 3.3 crank or the 3.0 yet so we will see Since the crank is already out I might as well just swap the 3.0 crank in because then I can just use a 3.0 Water/oil pump and run all my accessories without worrying about machining anything. Unless someone can give me a good reason to keep the 3.3 oil pump ;D

  14. Anyone know how to get in contact with Mr.510? He hasn't been active on here fot years. I tired emailing him but no response. His website (vg30.com) isn't even up. Just blew a head gasket on my vg30 and bought a vg33 for the swap and was hoping id be able to get the adaptor instead of having work done on the crank. -Thanks guys!
  15. Anyone know much about the KA 4x4 tranny? I've been on a KA forum and im getting some feedback saying the 4v4 tranny from the KA isnt as strong as the 240sx tranny and it could be a problem if im shooting for 300+ hp.
  16. This is exactly what I planned on doing with the KA. But yeah, more work.
  17. Well i have a 370z too so that could be possible LOL And remember, if i did the KA i would be throwing a turbo on it trying to push around 300hp. So it wont really be a downgrade in the end, just work Unless someone can point me into the right direction to turbo the VG !
  18. Yeah, i agree. But when i swap that KA in there it definitely wont be stock. Would probably build it.
  19. I had a feeling I would get those questions Im not entirely sure, just wanted to do something different I guess and just to have a project to work on. How much power can the vg take without building? I was looking into some forced induction mainly. KA was just more available and modding it seemed cheaper + its not a bad engine And it seems like going for a turbo setup isnt too common. I wasnt quite planning on doing any kind of hardcore offroading, maybe some sand dunes or something Unless you guys think i can do wonders with the vg, let me know!
  20. Hey guys, I've been searching around for a while now regarding some info about a swap like this and was looking for some input. (first post!) I currently have a 1993 auto 4x4 pathy. Looking at buying a ka24de from an 240sx. Only problem is, i want to convert it to a 5 speed but keep the 4x4 status. Which means (i think?) I would have to pull a tranny + transfer case from a 4x4 hardbody/pickup that has a ka24de/ka24e since i cant mate a KA to a v6 tranny. Oil pan isnt really an issue because i have a buddy that can fab a new one. I will probably be going with a KA from a 240 rather than a frontier just because of availability in my area. Just wondering if anyone had any useful info and/or some problems i might run into. Any input is appreciated
