  1. I have a 2001 SE 4X4 auto with 94,000 miles. I'm the third owner. It doesn't look like anybody has ever changed the ATF. It looks clear, with a tinge of brown, but does not smell burnt. I just want to drain out as much as I can, then top up. Does 5 qts. sound like the right amount? Please don't tell me to measure off what I drain out and then replace. That's real messy and usually inaccurate. Is any Dexron III OK? Thanks for any help on this, BLUEMILL
  2. I had my 2001 SE in for the fuel filler pipe recall. The tech went over the whole car checking it out for service needs. One claim was that the ATF fluid was brown and needed to be changed. Later I pulled the dipstick, and it appeared almost absolutely clear, like brake fluid, and with no burnt smell. I was expecting either a brownish red or the usual red of Dexron. Is Nissan ATF Clear? I found this dip stick on the right side of the engine. The tranny shifts very nicely, and there are about 92,000 miles on the vehicle. Thanks, Bluemill
