    I feel your pain man... except whoever broke into my car had balls, they did it in the middle of the day at work (between 530 and 7pm) The alarm was set, albeit having a crappy alarm with no light at that point, and doors were locked. Busted out the little window in the back door, tried to pry through the back seat, that didn't work, so they took the trunk lock. Got my deck, my ipod, my gps out of the trunk, my Rockford 12s, a cable box, a car seat, and some other small stuff. Be careful with insurance, the only thing progressive covered me for was the car seat, that was all I had a receipt for.

    My friend's '96 Maxima is a VG30DE... :shrug: I thought the VQs weren't put in them until quite a bit later.

     

    I can promise you it is not.. Maxima engines list

     

    89-91 all VG30E

    91 - 94 GXE - VG30E

    92 - 94 SE VE30DE

    95 - 99 VQ30DE

     

    after that I havent paid much attention... I just know those off the top of my head, seeing as how I have owned at least one model of each of the above.

     

    BTW Kingman: On the firewall, righthand side, under the hood, towards the top, is the engine code. It will say VQ30DE on his car.

    Wow... no such luck here... I get pulled over for all sorts of stupid crap - most of the time the "yes sir no sir" routine gets me out of it...

     

    cept my first ever ticket.

    I was pulled over for doing "125 in a 35" zone... now, granted, I was speeding (was probably doing about 60 or so by the bottom of the hill) but as I was nowhere NEAR the redline for the truck, I HIGHLY doubt I was doing 125mph... in fact, I dont' think my truck could DO 125mph without exploding or something.

     

    Got 4 points, a fine of $250, and a stern talking to by the officer. I decided to take it to court, but they kept pushing the date further and further back till I had to go off to college (yes, over a year of "delays") so I decided to pay it and fskc it...

     

    *shrugs* Can a stock '90 pathy DO 125 even?

    yes.... it doesnt like it though....

    very sad to hear about this... I only met him breifly on one occasion, buying a roof rack for my rig, but the little I did talk to him, he was a great guy, and always willing to lend a hand when I needed to work on the truck (if it hadnt been so far away, lol). RIP Jared, you will be missed.

    Then an interesting thing happened to me the new Maxima came out with the first VQ. It immediately went on Car and Drivers 10 best list and the VQ won a best engine award from Wards. Suddenly I could get a Maxima that was as fast as an NA ZX and would melt the front tires in a glorious front wheel drive power slide.

    This is why I love my car... fugly body kit, heavy 18's and all.
