  1. you are describing exactly what happened to mine a year ago, it is also a 93 pathy. Had to get a new master kit, tranny band, cleaned the torque converter, replaced the neutral switch and of course changed the tranny fluid and replaced the filter... it's been a year and has worked fine since then... good luck on yours.

  2. sorry for the late reply guys and thanks for the comments. Two days ago I was driving, filled up the tank and it didnt mark anything until like 30 minutes after that it started going up, since then it's been work fine so I'll leave it like that and see if it gets bipolar again haha.

  3. Today I went to college, everything was ok, I parked, went to class, when I go back to the pathy I noticed the fuel gauge was marking empty :scratchhead: ( empty as in the red indicator was like 1/4 inch lower from the empty line). I know I had almost 1/4 tank left so I drove home. When I got home I got underneath the pathy to check if it was leaking or something but everything seem normal. I don't know almost anything about fuel systems so any sugestions will do. Thanks guys.

  4. That's mean Nunya, I like miatas! Can't say the same for Metros  I already checked the trans. cooler with the Pepboys around the corner, they have a couple available, are they easy to install? or will I be breaking my head trying to mount it?

  5. hahah I'll go to a locksmith tomorrow. The first key to break was almost two weeks ago and it wasn't me, My mother wanted to look for something in the my pathy, so I gave her the keys, she puts the key in the drivers side door lock and turned it to the wrong side. Second and last key, I arrived at the university, took my class, when I got out and went to the pathy, surprise surprise I only had half a key in the key chain. I have no idea how or where it broke but it probably was in the ignition, funny/ scary part is that I can turn on my pathy with my small pocket swiss army knife and also with the half I still got of the second key that broke, if I play with it in the ignition I can manage to unlock the cylinder and turn it. But I need the new keys ASAP, I can't be leaving the pathy around unlocked...

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! As always, I'm most gratefull for the help and hope I can be of your service sometime.

  6. ok since I don't have both halves of the keys I'll take the door lock cylinders to a locksmith. About the tranmission, I guess I'll buy an aftermarket one this week. I have no Idea what the previous fix involved,The receipt says somethings about motor kit, converter, neutral switch and a band. And obviously the flushed the transmission so new trans oil and filter.

  7. Also, so I don't need to start another topic. I travel long distances couple times a month, I've been noticing that after a while driving the center console gets very hot. What should I do? Is it the transmission? Should get a Transmission Oil Cooler? The transmission was fixed about 9 month ago ( it's auto, I so want a swap for a manual).

  8. So I broke my 2 keys for the pathy. What do I do now? Do I have to get a new ignition switch with its lock cylinder and keys or only the lock cylinder with keys? And obviously at least driver's side door lock cylinder with key. Idk what would you guys recommend? I really don't care if the door key and the ignition key are different.

  9. First one wasn't in a pathfinder, was in a friend's 89 Montero, the middle part of the trail was a high and the Montero was basically lifted from the differentials( four wheel in the air) there was no one around, so we had to walk out of the trail(about 30 minutes) to look for someone who could pull us out. In my pathy going up a very steep rocky hill the engine started dying and suddenly it turned off, was there waiting for a buddy for about 4 hours, I decided to take one last look to the engine, results that the cable from the engine coil had somehow manage to come off, connected, placed adhesive tape around it and good to go. Last time, it was really my fault, hydrolocked the engine...VERY DEEP MUDHOLE! water came up to front windshield, pretty bad stuck, engine went on for about 5 minutes, finally after ten minutes managed to pull it out with alittle help from another Pathy. Had to pull my Pathy all the way to my house with a recovery strap, it wouldn't turn on, gasoline came out of the air filter...I thought it was well dead until the mechanic checked it, new spark plugs, air filter, airflow sensor and engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid etc and it's been working like a champ...I think I learned from that last one, now I'm very carefull when muddin'. I've seen people braking axles, differential being cracked hitting rocks, roll overs and other crazy stuff. It's part of wheelin'and muddin', you have to be prepare and never think that nothing will happen.

  10. sorry I took so long to reply, been very busy. I can't stop laughing since I discovered the source of the noise, turns out it was the exhaust pipe knocking against another steel bar near it. So I took an old radiator hose, cut it from one side a placed it around the exhaust pipe, no more sound. Lol.

  11. Yesterday had no noise, today it came back, it's coming from near the transfer and transmission shifter, it makes some kind of vibration...i don;t know if I shold worry or not lol... maybe I'll take it to my mechanic and see what he says. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

  12. hey guys! I went off roading last thurday and then again on friday. Thursday was good, did the trail, no problems, no sounds, everything was good. Friday the same...no sounds no nothing weird but yesterday the pathy started to make a weird grinding like sound...Im not even sure if grinding is the correct word but I think its the best description. The sounds happens only when im in complete stop or moving 0-10 mph. Sometimes it doesn't makes it other times is very loud. I think its coming from somewhere near the tranny or the transfer but I'm not really sure. 4wd is applying just fine, transmission is working great. I've heard the sound before on a 2wd Cherokee Sport. I dont know maybe water in the tranny or transfer? Heck I have no idea. I know its not the bearings nor the hubs...help? lol
