  1. ...So, I was not making this stuff up. Comparitively, the Pathfinder outlasts the Toyota and sells for less. Toyotas look good and run good when they are running. Its like a Land Rover or a Jaguire. If you can afford to keep dumping money into it just so you can drive it, then cool. Just sayin.... goodpost.gif...

Whoa! Lets not bring Jaguar into this haha, my dad is a Jag collector, all of which have been the most reliable vehicles Ive ever been around, not to mention the best ride Ive ever been in..

Of course Land Rover's have the bad rep though for reliability, and its for a good reason, but Jag's Id say atleast the ones Ive seen personally(and at the meets my dad would bring me too) were all top notch, solid running stock vehicles.. I learned to drive in a 95 Jag XJ.. The parents have an '02 X-type that has over 280k miles that is driven daily in Nebraska(salt does not phase this vehicle either), and nothing outside of regular interval maintenance has been done to it(aside from Amsoil being run in it)..

Obviously these are just my experiences, but I stand to believe that Jag's are very reliable(and pretty cheap luxury vehicles, after they depreciate that is).

Sorry for my rant haha, but I like to defend what I think/have experienced is a quality product. Anyways, your post of the CL ad's prove exactly what you were saying, I for one do not understand why people can/choose to charge that much for them.. whatever though Ill pay less for my Nissan and be happier.

  2. Hmm, in the Pick N Pull's here in Washington state that Ive been too are full of toyo's but hardly any Nissan pickups/Pathys.. when I lived in Jacksonville, FL a friend and I went to a few junkyards there, and it was so hard to find any pathy's or pickup's to pick parts from for my friends pathy.. we actually joked about how much easier this would be if he had a toyo instead..

Regardless though, I personally wish the junkyards had a crap ton of Nissan's so I could have a constant picking of fresh/spare parts..

  3. MrJim you are right on the money with your opinion(in its entirety), as it is EXACTLY what I see from my point of view as well, why buy a toyota for $3000+ instead of a Nissan that will do the same thing.. The craigslist suggestion is 100% true, I search craigslist every day, if you want a reliable truck that will get you where you need to go AND do all the work you throw at it, get a Nissan Pickup or Pathfinder and save yourself that extra couple grand on customizing it to your needs.

Regardless, I still love what Toyota does(actually any manufacturer, Im a fan of the engineering that goes into each vehicle, nerdy I know), but Ill never buy one if they are consistently going to be 2x, or 3x the price of another vehicle with less miles and is newer..

  4. And some people have the nerve to say the economy is getting 'better'..

Very sorry to hear that, I SINCERELY hope things turn around sooner than later for you.

Maybe you can tag along with one of us for the ride if things are looking better by then.

  5. Thanks for the pictures and information regarding my question, finally finished my SL, next up is the NPORA stickers and a BL =D

My JGC coils dont look like that slick, are yours the 'UpCountry' coils?

I think the fender flare thing is eating up some of the gap that would be visible in the front wheels.. Regardless though, she rides AMAZINGLY with the RS9000XL's(24 year old shocks are next to useless haha), now to just learn my sleep number's..

  6. Worked on the truck more installing my UCA's and replacing all the ball joints.

I have a question though(if anyone cares to answer), the JGC V8 springs I have look almost exactly the same height as the stock springs(assuming they are stock)I pulled out, JGC's being an inch taller about. I cut the pigtail off, is this normal and are the differences in the compressions, meaning do the stock pathy springs sag more under its own weight than the JGC's will, which would give me the 3" lift?

  7. I brought her in to the shop today to install my RC UCA's and upper and lower ball joints, only to run into problems constantly, ball joints just dont want to move when they havent been changed in 23 years.

I ended up cutting the stock UCA's in half to get the spindle out(yeh I know, I should of just pressed them out =p )..

Going to finish the lift tomorrow and then install my new stickers from Fleurys!!

Quick question if anyone can answer though, I have the stock electronic adjustable shocks in the truck now, can I just electrical tape(or use the old plug from the shocks as a cap) that plug and not cause any issues since Ill be replacing it with Rancho 9000xl..

  8. Bought some JGC springs(I had the choice of the UpCountry package springs or the regular ones, I chose the regular ones, figured 32% stiffer wouldnt make it too comfortable.. wouldnt mind someone chiming in letting me know if they like them), need to cut the pig tail off now. Hit up the junkyard and bought a skid plate and a cluster(that doesnt fit my truck, of course!).. and bought tools at sears for the pathy.. :jig:

Nothing to the pathy, but stuff for her rather.. now I need to find the time to install the UCA's, coils, and new shocks to lift her =D

  9. not what i have done to it... its what im GOING to do to it. im gonna kick it in its damn teeth for slowly leaking all its clutch fluid out on the groud! and when i mean slow, ive owned the truck for like two months now... thats how slow. and just yesterday it almost left me at home when i had to go somewhere! :headwall:

Thats her way of saying she wants attention is all.

  10. Couple of my guns:

Springfield GI 1911(this particular one is one of the old ones made in the US, unlike the new ones that are made in Brazil)

I LOVE it, what kind of hunting do you do, or plan to do with that beast?

Also, do you have anymore vids of you offroading in the works, love the ones you've put out.

  12. I just researched the crap out of Balljoints, I came across Raybestos Professional brand. Every post Ive read had recommended them over anything else, and they have zerk fittings as well.

The Moog professional brand was also a good choice, but the overwhelming consensus I came across was the Raybestos Professional brand.

I just ordered some actually from Rockauto.com(found it to be the cheapest), if you go that route, use the promo code for NPORA(it should be located in the NPORA vendor section).

  13. MY1PATH is right, make sure to check the seals or change it if you prefer.

My engine is from Japan as well, the valve cover is leaking, but I think it was just the fact that the valve cover screws were loose(Ill find out over time).

Other than that, the engine is in perfect order.

    Good luck with yours.

  14. Do both of them still have their C-clips? Id say its just the T-bars arent seated correctly with the mount the bars go into.. maybe after you take it apart(I had to use a crap ton of PB Blaster to get mine to come out of the mounts) you will be able to more easily adjust it so the ends sit matched up.

Otherwise 'I' dont think it is a big deal for them to be exactly the same in the length they are protruding.

  15. That's a roger!!!! Transportation Corps!!!! and Engineers!!!!!

How long have ya been in, Im actually Navy myself, just figured you were Army cause I know that for the Navy there isnt anything as far as jobs go that just pertain to doing what you stated. Regardless though, good luck out there in the sand box, and stay safe.

Also so its relevant to the thread, I just finished tightening the screws on my valve covers, they definitely were all loose. Hopefully it fixes my problem though and didnt dry out the gaskets.

  16. Id take an R50, the R51 is just disappointing seeing what they went from to where they are at now(damn general consumers!)

As far as rust on the pathy's, Ive lived in Nebraska for a few years, and the older WD's and D21's Ive seen didnt have anymore rust than the Toyota's, the Ford's, the Chevy's, etc.. around the same age.. That is just my experience though..
