  1. Nice rig man! I can't believe you scored that roof rack for $50!! Is that a universal fit or pathfinder specific rack? Also, I love the front bumper! Did you fab that up yourself? I have the exact same year, model, & color of Pathy  I'm actually looking to put on taller tires (31x10.5) and a lift before spring (there is a local snow trail run happening in February that I want to be ready for!).

  2. Check out this thread. I had the same problem, i tow a utility trailer sometimes and load the back of my pathy up for camping a lot. The improvement is great for towing.

Thanks! Your truck looks good in those pictures...not too much rake imo. Done, this is the setup I'm going to run in the spring when boat season starts up again!

  3. Hmm, interesting... I have the rear end sag going on especially when I tow my boat. This looks like a good option. Are these the Medium Duty springs?

Thanks for sharing. It's always nice to see how different products out there work (or don't).

  4. Any word on the muffler model or how you found out which would work?

My tail pipe just rusted off my resonator so I figured it is time to upgrade. ;)

No, sorry. I just haven't had any time. I just asked for a throaty sounding muffler at the shop and this is what buddy put on : ) I'm very happy with it! It actually seems to sound better and better as it gets "broken in". Good luck and post up sound clip with what you put on!

  5. What a great thread! Thanks to all the contributors! I have a 2001 SE Pathfinder with the 2wd-auto-4hi-4lo switch. After reading through this thread, I'm still not 100% sure if the Warn hub are safe to be installed on my truck? This is my understanding after reading this thread...Warn hubs ARE safe for my truck as long as I dont turn the switch to auto while my hubs are unlocked up front. Is this correct? Thanks

  6. Me and my friend's pathfinders are both automatic. By the way, I am considering buying a stock diameter pulley set from unorthodox racing. What do you think?

Okay, I'm automatic too. I checked the Unorthodox website and they don't list a pulley set for our vehicles. I see an underdrive set for the VQ35DE of the Murano, but I don't know if that would fit our Pathfinders...the dyno results they post are nice tho! Where did you see these?

  7. I dyno'd my path about a year ago with K&N intake and magnaflow exhaust. Lost the paper, but I remember it was 181.4 or 181.2 HP at 2nd gear. That was on a mustang dyno (the dyno that is not elevated which apparently gives less HP) because my friend dyno'd his path on dynojet which is the elevated one and he got 190 HP and our paths run about the same

Interesting. Do you both have 5spds or autos? I wonder what a stock pathy dynos at? Anyone know?

Just an assumption here, but I would guess that if you had manual hubs up front and they were unlocked you would probably put more hp to the rear wheels as you wouldn't have as much drive train loss?

  8. Perhaps their plenums are smaller to begin with? It would make sense that they would put a smaller intake plenum into a smaller car. I need to see some dyno figures.

I'd like to see some dyno figures also. If dyno time wasn't so damn expensive I'd get my pathy dyno'd to see what kind of whp i'm putting down with the K&N intake and Magnaflow exhaust. I know this isn't a performance vehicle by any means but I always like to add more power to everything I buy! Kinda like Tim the 'tool man' Taylor lol!

On a somewhat related note, I had it out with my buddies 2009 Toyota Tundra Crew tonight from about 70km/h to about 130km/h. He finish about 1 truck length ahead. He has K&N intake and exhaust also. I think it would be a better race from a stop, but we couldn't catch a light (on the closed circuit race course : )

  9. 01silvapathy has it right: intake, exhaust, plenum spacer, and cams is about it. Unless you got a bunch of cash you can custom build all of it :crossedwires:

The plenum spacer looks fairly simple to install. Anybody know of before and after dyno results for the plenum spacer? Same question regarding cams...any "proof" of gains out there that you guys know of?

I don't want to dump a huge amount of money into this vehicle for performance...that's what my Subaru STi is for. I, like most of you just want MO' POWA!!

Would cams from a 350z VQ "work" ? I dunno, just throwing it out there... I can't find ANYTHING on the net.

Thanks for all the responses : )

  10. So I put on a K&N intake and Magnaflow exhaust and noticed a nice increase in performance. It seems like there are NO aftermarket mods for my VQ35?! Wtf?! It is such a smooth running and sophisticated motor that I thought there would be more aftermarket support for this engine. I cant find ANYTHING! What mods do you guys know of? Would cams from another VQ series motor do anything for me? I can't believe there is basically zero aftermarket support for this motor!

Site note: I have a 2001 3.5l auto pathy se.

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!

  11. Ask and you shall receive! (sometimes)

Okay, this picture shows the stock exhaust pipes welded to expansion pipes which are then welded to the dual entrance muffler with yet bigger pipe diameter.

This picture shows the corner of the muffler (the blur), then shows the single exit piping going up over the axle turning out on the passenger side.

Here is a shot from the back

I hope this helps answer your curiousity

  12. exhaust sounds good.

just an FYI, the K&N FIPK is not a CAI. a CAI drops the cone filter down into the bumper where the coldest air is. that's simply a WAI with a heat shield.

basically, if the filter isn't down into the bumper, it's simply a WAI.

Yeah, I know that lol! I just put CAI for whatever reason when I was posting. Thanks for clearing that up for other members tho :wiggle:

I couldn't get pictures last night because it was raining. I'll try to get pics and possibly video tonight...video might work better. Heck, maybe I'll do an interior sound video if I'm in a really good mood :bounce:
