  1. For 400 i'd say get it. I paid 700 for mine, put 1500 in it and its a great truck. Just gotta do the starter relay mod. Get it dude they don;t make em like this anymore!
  2. OK so thanks for all the replies. I checked all the connectors and they seem to be clean and corrosion free. TO be honest tho, there are some wiring problems somewhere, there was a green wire that was just hanging by the starter, so i'm not sure what that was about....anyway. Where are the directions for the solenoid mod? Maybe this will help. It turns out this was a new starter, not a rebuilt one so thats one problem eliminated. When the second starter died tho, I took the key out and it was like someone was still starting the car, sounded like a fan running till I saw smoke, then it sounded like it ran itself down, then it wouldn't start again. Maybe that has something to do with it? WHat does the starter motor push into inside the trans? maybe that is messed up??
  3. Ok so starter has stopped working again. This is the third starter that I have put on. All rebuilt mind you. I installed it, starts fine for 3 startups then won't start. Sometimes it will start just fine, then other times it will do the click and nothing. Battery if fine, I'm at my wits end. Oh as I type its stranded me at a friends house. Please help, gf is Hella pissed and wants me to sell.....
  4. Same thing here. My Audis engine blew at 130k due to bolts backing out of the engine. It's getting replaced now. Using the path as a dd until then. My pathfinder has done 300k+ and never asks for anything, no oil consumption or smoke. It's really a special model imo
  5. So my pathy wouldn't start the other day and I came on here to look for info. I searched and figured out it was the alternator or solinoid. So today I took my hammer and rachet extension and tapped, and it started right up. I know ill need to rebuild it soon as it sounds clogged up, I just can't believe it worked. My other car is an audi a4 and in no way would that ever be possible! Too much digital intervention. These trucks are crazy durable, I had no idea. Keep on truckin!!!
  6. Is this the switch for the factory light bar? It looks like the bar may have been removed from mine, switch has no effect lol
  7. This may explain why my dome lights want to stay on all the time, that and my hatch clicking locked but not staying shut. Thanks guys, ill take a look this weekend. Ah the joys of a 24 year old vehicle. By the time it gets done ill be able to take it apart and put it back together again.
  8. Ok I searched and didn't come up with anything. Is there a door chime on the 87 pathfinders? I'm watching cops and see this guy who ran but he was in a hardbody, but when he left the door open there was a door chime. It sounded like 2 bells. My question is do the 87-95s even come with a door chime? It's possible mine went a long time ago.
  9. I know this is another question that has been been done to death before, but I have to ask. What are the options the off road models had. I've looked for the red sticker on the back axle and didn't see one but due to age it could have fallen off. My next hunch is the cluster I have, I've seen 2 different kinds. Is this the off road cluster? I'm confused
  10. So I am having the common my speedo doesn't work issues. I've searched and found help, but conflicting solutions. Here are my issue 1-of all the gauges work except for the speedo 2-I replaced the speedo cable and the speedo goes straight to max and stays there 3-I read that there is a relay that can be replaced in the back of the cluster, does that apply here? Wouldn't that mean all gauges would be dead? 4-my shop is trying to get me to buy a new cluster, I'm trying to avoid this That's it guys, any help is greatly appreciated P.S.-what is the difference between off-road 87 models and non off road? The reason I ask is my gauge cluster is different than some I've seen on here from the same year. It looks like mine has 2 gauges for gas, one above the other. I'm confused lol
  11. Nice pathfinder man, its the same as mine just in way better shape. Welcome James.
  12. The back. You can see this is one area that needs body work. I think it has a 4 inch body lift, I know the tires are 32s.
  13. The interior in its blue glory. I thought the black button was for the rear locker, its for the dang horn Hehe
  14. Thank you for the welcome. I bought the pathfinder after the engine in my 2002 jetta bit the dust. I dropped close to 5k in the motor, but being a German car it was a money pit. While its in the shop being rebuilt I'm gonna "restore" the pathfinder and use as a daily driver. The vw can be a weekend car. The pathfinder was a one owner car, the guy bought it new in 87 but now is trying to buy a house so I picked it up for 750. The amazing part is the engine and transmission were replaced brand new by a Nissan dealer in 2005! He even had receipts for this and the regular maintenance. He told me to keep him updated on my progress and I could tell he hated to sell it. There are only a couple of dents and dings, and the interior is perfect. I'll put up some more pics here soon.
  15. Hey guys new to the site, thought I would stop by and introduce myself. My name is Daniel. I just picked up a 1987 pathfinder se v6 4x4 5 speed. I absolutely love it. It's a fixer upper, but in good shape. I'm looking to take it to a stock plus look as I don't off road that much. This is also my first Nissan/suv. I'm usually an Audi guy. Anyway, here she is my pride and joy If you guys have any questions ask away. I have a million already Hehe.
