  1. Does anybody know if replacing the knock sensor actually makes a noticeable difference? My codes say it needs replacing, but I don't want to spend the time and money to replace it haha. My pathfinder has some trouble getting up to 100km/hr, as well as going up hills its not the greatest.
  2. Replaced the battery, actually starts now. However, the same problem occurs, I just havn't had it happen as frequently. I think it may be temperature factored because now it is +5 outside and I have had it happen only once.
  3. I was suspecting the o2 sensor as well but now that the battery is going I'm not sure if they are linked or not, maybe one causing the other? I have to check my battery issues and I will post back. Thanks for the input, glad someone else is having the same problems haha
  4. Update on Pathy. I did check the trouble codes after warming the car, I don't think I am doing anything wrong when I check them but code 55 is still showing. One new problem now is that the car's battery gets drained every day and I have to boost it anytime I turn the car off. Is it possible that the battery and/or the alternator have stopped working? Maybe linked to and the source of the first problem? I have yet to test them, I will do tomorrow and post update
  5. I let it run for a bit, no read out again. How warm should it be? Its pretty cold outside I don't want to leave it running forever, today the engine check light is now blinking but idling at normal.
  6. Running a 95 Pathy LE, after driving for a couple kms, the truck will jolt (like stalling the car) and the engine check light will come on, RPMs idle at 1500, and noticeably great power is lost. Problem started the other day when -35 C, now it happens intermittently. The other day it actually stalled while driving down the road (from perfectly fine running conditions), had to pull over turn it off and on a couple of times until back to normal. I also ran a ECU check and found code 55, no malfunction Anybody have any ideas? Possibly fuel injectors or frozen fuel line?
  7. Haha take the quick route out. Off-roading machine is right, and I will continue to enjoy it. I might just have to strap a bike on the back to save the city $ going down the drain haha.
  8. It got around 35 MPG, that seems to be about double what the pathy gets. Ya I know haha, I didn't think that they came with holes in the gas tank. I'm sure I'm just going to have to deal with it, being how awesome they are and all. However, I would really be interested in seeing how a DIY hybrid would turn out of one of these. I'm sure it probably wouldn't do anything at all for long distance drivers, but for me I usually stay within the same 5-10 km radius during the week. It does seem like it doesn't have the best acceleration, you can sure hear the chug of the engine when you step on it. The funny thing is when I checked up on newer models of pathfinders, the 2008+ still have just as bad as the 90-95's. I guess its something Nissan didn't consider a big thing to fix or invest in.
  9. This definitely looks like a good project to ensue, not too much modifications for relatively good results. Thanks for the link
  10. Funny Question, my speedometer and odometer don't work so I have no way of gauging it properly. All I can relatively compare it to is my old 93 Honda Civic getting at least double my amount of Km/L. I fill up about 40 bucks every two weeks when 30 would last me the month (or for about 500-600Km). I do mostly city driving and highway on the weekends. I do have mud tires on it, ram bar, tire carrier, and side steps; these are probably a good factor for my worse gas as well as being old. I also don't floor it every time the light turns green and slam on the breaks when it turns red, I relatively coast as much as possible and slow acceleration with no speeding.
  11. I have a 95, 5 speed pathfinder and it guzzles gas. I would like to either put possible performance parts in it to increase the gas mileage, or convert it to a hybrid, which I particularly don't want to do because it's a huge money commitment and I may lose power I know I could get a different vehicle but pathfinders are just too sick! (Also looking for a bit of a challenge) Any suggestions or advice on conversions?
  12. I've also had the same problem with my 95 pathy (It has electronic cluster), but both work on and off sometimes, one and not the other. If i hit the dash a couple of times, the speedometer tends to start working again, but not in the winter (I live in Calgary, -20C). I did swap out the cluster with another one from the junkyard but still same problem. Any advice would be a great help
  13. I think I got the door ajar problem, thanks so much, I would have ripped apart the whole circuitry to try and figure this out lol. And for some reason, I had swapped out my combination meter back to the original and everything seems to be working for now... I think it may have possibly been dirty connectors causing closed circuits to become open and vice versa?
  14. thanks for your advice, I'm going to check the ecu in the next couple of days. Do you think that the spedometer and the door ajar problems could be linked? You said that it was a 'common problem' for the door ajar, do you know if it is a problem with the hatch? or possibly the wiring in the front?
  15. My spedometer works intermitently as well as the odometer, and the system says my doors are ajar when they are clearly not (Kind of an anoyance because I have a remote starter and the system won't engage until doors are shut). The other day I swapped out the whole combination meter system with one I got at a junk yard, and the exact same problems occured. My drivers side control to roll up the rear windows also does not work. I'm wondering if these issues are possibly linked and I need to rewire the whole wiring harness to the combination meter? Some odd side effects on these matters: when I take a left turn, my door ajar light turns off; the engine check light will sometimes come on; when I smack the dash, the spedometer will start working and the engine check light will turn off. Any possible alternatives to rewiring?
