  1. the #$!&er wanted me to throw cash ontop for a 93 that has no brakes at the moment(my god it was a scary test drive) he didnt tell me til after i got back, the fame however was starting to scale, and well yea i passed. I will find another one day but until then i will rock out the MPG's on the neon. i love the little #$!&er. i missed diving a little car, but at the same time i miss driving something that is a hell of alot more capible off road.

  2. Well as some of you know i had a 95 Nissan pathfinder that i loved it was by far my favorite vehicle that i have owned. but as the Nissan's have a curse especially in the rust belt for Swiss cheese frames i inevitably broke mine whilst offroading it. I actually traded it for a 2000 Dodge neon, and soon after bought a 1999 neon. as much as i love my neon i miss the pathfinder more. So while browsing my local Craigslist i happened upon this 93 Pathfinder . I thusly text messaged him to see if he still had it and what the specs were on it.

Here is a little rundown on it.

1993 Nissan Pathfinder SE or XE i cant tell(has the SE wheels, roof rack and the spare tire carrier)

    160k miles

    Auto trans

    Loaded

Frame's not rotted(or so he says)

    needs Brakes(rotors & Pads)-He has them

    Possible LSD rear diff

He doesnt have any better pictures of the thing at the moment but i hope its as good as it sounds, because i miss my pathy.

I wish it was a 94-95 because the interior was awesome on the 95 that i had. But i cant be choosy as i think there is a 94 or 95 in the junkyard by my house so i would pillage the interior :D

  3. well i guess this can be locked for now :( im not keeping her. the passenger side lower lateral link mount "tore" from the frame 1/2" and pushed the axle back 1/2" on that side. so i am picking up an econo box car 2000 dodge neon for in trade for the Pathfinder. the guy said he still wanted it broken frame and all so i guess thats a cool thing. the neon is beat cosmeticly but i am awesome at body work and could probably knock 90% of it out in a day. there is 0 rust on it its just beat body wise. the motor and trans are awesome. I do vow this that i will own another pathfinder from the south that has absolutely 0 rust on the frame. it would also have to be a 93+ to get the kick ass interior.

  4. I stick to my initial thoughts. Find a wrecked Pathy at a yard or on Craigslist with a Pooched tranny thats frame is in better shape then your own.... Which shouldn't be too hard really. You can find all kinds for like 500 obo all the time. Right there you have shocks, frame, another engine, exhaust and countless other pieces you can sell off to others to make some of that 500 back.

i did find one with a borked trans but they want $1000 for it because its "rust free"

  5. i just went out and looked at my exhaust its just the flange bolts @ the y pipe to exhaust, that are broken and the gaskets missing, and i dont think the frame will take me that long to fix(a weekend or so). and i can do the shocks at a later date,im going to buy the cheapo lifetime warranty shocks for the time being. the ball joints are not bad yet just more or less a preventative maintenance thing.

  6. Well... there is more and more going wrong with this pathfinder every day. Monday the exhaust manifolds both either cracked or i have broken studs, and the tail pipe fell off, the exhaust will need to be replaced from the manifolds back :( so that's even more money i dont have. I did however get my steel to "patch" my frame although i am not to psych'd to get going on it since my dad has been using my truck everyday leaving me with the pathfinder as my only vehicle now. so as its starting to look more and more like im soon to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. i may soon be losing my vehicle and possibly my job because of it. due to the amounting things that keep going wrong.

    List of major things wrong:

Needs shocks(210k on the orig shocks)-$240(on the high side)

Needs Ball joints(upper and lower)-$200(on the high side)

Needs Frame fixed-$100-$600( depends on who i have do it

Needs Exhaust replaced,as well as manifold studs/bolts(manifolds back)-$700(on the high side)

Thats $1700 or so into this Pathfinder, that i do not have nor do i make that in a month. i make $600 or so a month and have bills to pay, which leaves me with maybe $100 for 2 weeks for gas and food.

So i am in a conundrum. Scrap the pathfinder and buy another one, or Scrap the pathfinder and buy something else both of which will cost me more money than i have and can borrow(crap credit) and i have no family that will help me that i know of.

  7. i am at 210k with the orig trans fluid, filter and cooler(will be upgraded soon) but thats good to know that the ones from the 01+ will swap right in to my 95 and its a direct bolt in, hell i may see if i can eventually find a Vg33 s/c with auto trans to swap the whole thing in.

  8. i have to do this also, but i think i am just going to pay my mechanic to do it :D i am sure it wont be much... i normally can buy the parts and he charges me a decent amount for labor($50/hr or so)hell he's going to replace my "leaking" gas tank for $135 which is a PITA and the tank is only going to cost me $115.

  9. Well i talked to my friend he doesnt feel comfortable doing the whole rail replacement. so we may be back to doing the plating thing idk yet. i called a local welding shop near me(delduca welding & services) and i am going up tomorrow for an estimate(full replacement from rear doors back) if its cheap enough i will have them do it. seeing that they can guarantee that it will be with in spec and stronger than stock to say the least.

  10. I agree, idk if I was one of those people, but to clarify-

I say you keep it, (wouldn't suggest driving it much, I'd be terrified to actually) and rebuild the rear frame....one solid weekend (aside from prep) should get you all squared away for another 15 years :D

I thought it looked like 2x4 tubing from when I relocated my rear bumper...midland steel in (where else) midland sold me 3x2 for about 25 bucks per 6', and 5x2 for 33 bucks for 6'

about 60 bucks in steel, 20 in paint, and figure 40 in welding supplies (depending on welder) and you're set!

Its cheaper in the long run for me($76.54(steel),$0 for paint(already have), and $20 or so in beer(I <3 having friends that weld))

and Hill steel can get me 2x4 box steel in a 6' section thats 3/16" thick for $38.27/each out the door.

and it should only take a day or so of us working on it.

while you are at it, take a look at the tension rod bushings, make sure your lower control arms don't fall out ;)

Checked them when i did the wheel bearings, they are good for now, i will be replacing them before winter though

Exactly. Don't try to convince him he should scrap the truck. He's supposed to buy my old body lift! :)

yes sir that is correct. i am not scrapping the damn truck its like telling someone to have an abortion when they really want to keep the child.

anyway i changed the route that i will be replacing it fskc the whole 10gauge plate thing, 2x4 box steel that 3/16 will last me for years to come.

and when i am there(the steel mill) i am going to buy a third piece of 2x4 box to make my front bumper with too :D

  11. there is no option for me getting another vehicle let alone drive one when this is down. i have my other truck but with the gas mileage(6-8mpg) it gets its cheaper to drive the pathy and fix it at the same time. Myself and my friend are pretty good when it comes to metal work(although he can weld 100x better than myself). I will be basically building new frame rails around the old ones, i will be using 10ga to do the basic shape and 1/4" plate to do all the mounts for the suspension and body.

PS: the pictures make it look worse than it is, i have only lost the bottom and one side of the driver side frame rail, the way i plan on fixing it is utilizing the usable metal that is there already and working off that. the pathfinder only has to last me 2-3 more years then i will buy an xterra or another wd21. this is my first nissan and i &^%*ing love it. i have never felt right in any other vehicle(my truck included).
