Hi I searched to see if a similar post could be found but not much luck My ldriver side headlight sometimes will not turn on at all. However if I flash the high beams on/off, sometimes it turns it on! Has anyone seen this issue before?

So I went to my local canadina tire to purchase some gear oil. According to my info I printed out, I needed to purchase Open differential - APL GL-5 SAE 80W90 for my open/or LSD differentials. However, the only oil I could find is API GL-4 / 5 compatible SAE 80W90 gear oil ( Canadian brand - Motorcraft ) Is this oil the correct one? I assume maybe I wrote down the name wrong as the bottle says API GL-5 SAE 80W90 not APL Can someone please verify this info? thanks

Hi, I just would like to clarify the fluids for the front/rear differentials: According to a link in this site: Differential oil: Open differential - APL GL-5 SAE 80W90 LSDs differential - Use only LSD gear oil APL GL-5 SAE 80W90 approved for Nissan LSDs Transfer case oil - APL GL-4 80W90 - Am I correct to say that both front/read differentials are the same fluid? I can use APL GL-5 SAE 80W90 and be safe? thanks everyone.. just gathering my notes for my next weekend project!

Question on Speed Sensor - I just replaced mine :)
elcid replied to elcid's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
thanks! I guess I need to replace my T case fluids next!. from the reading I am done ( still researching the forums ) T case can use ATF just like the tranny. The front/rear axle uses gear fluids. I am checking a few links now, reading up. thanks again for your help -

Hi, I will go outside and take a pic of where the fluid comes out. I am being a bit dense / and confused I guess. I jsut want to make sure I understand correctly in order to change the fluid. I will be posting the pic in about 10 minutes -
Question on Speed Sensor - I just replaced mine :)
elcid replied to elcid's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Thanks for the reply. The speed sensor , unless I am mistaken, is located on the rear housing of my auto tranny - 1995 pathfinder. I did change the fluids of my tranny yesterday before the removal of the speed sensor. i will check again, but I am sure I am looking at the rear end of the tranny ( I am a noob mechanic , so couldbe wrong, lol ) -
Mobil 1 and Lucas Tranny conditioner, removing tranny oil pan
elcid replied to elcid's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Thank you! i gratly appreciate the post!. I will order an inline filter or maybe two ( for my 300ZX TT ) and try it out!. -
Hi, So after reading the forum and armed with some knowledge on fluid types ( thanks to you guys ), I went off to the local auto part store and got myself litres of Mobil 1 synthecic ATF fluid. when I got home, I tried to remove the oil pan to no avail!. I managed to removed all the bolts of the transmission pan but for the life of me, I couldnt actually remove the pan at all!. Pan came on unbolted but the exhaust pipe didnt allow for a complete removal. Is this even possible? so, since I couldnt remove the pan, I went ahead and removed the magnet. To my very surprise, it was not covered much with dust particles, just a few passes with a cloth and got it shiny again. It didnt contain any big chucks of metal or anything. I then took a clean cloth and swipe the entire oil pan and didnt get much either!. so I am guessing my tranny is in good shape, so I hope. I measured the fluid I got out of the pan and it came out at 5 quarts. I replaced the fluid with Mobil 1 synthetic and a 1 quart of Lucas automatic transmission Conditioner. Is the lucas good stuffs? I also cleaned out the Throttle body, replaced the PCV valve as well. Hope the pathy is good to go for a while! Now I just have to change the front / rear axle with gear fluid as well as the transfer case!

Hi everyone. I just replaced the speed sensor on my 1995 pathfinder but I noticed during the install that some pretty dark brown liquid came out. I read in this forum that its suppose to be tranny fluid but it sure looked brown and very liquid like. Not thick or anything but thin liquid. Do I need to refill the hole with a replacement fluid? If so, what goes in there? My speedo works again! I am just concerned on the fluid which came out of the hole during the removal of the old defective sensor. thanks again.
