  1. So spotted this article in a local newspaper today, which was kind of nice :)

(on the little picture the comes up on the article, click on the '2' in the bottom right corner of it to get the Pathy [which was printed in the paper], I'm puzzled as to why a Suzuki its the first picture that comes up on the website O.o)

It claims that the pathy came with a manual trans with the 3.5L motors too?? Is this true??

It's definitely news to me if it is lol I always though only the VG33's got an option 5-spd... anyway, nice little read :)

  2. I should hope so, lol your American military uses them in all your 5 ton armoured HMMWVs

Good enough for them, good enough for me

It's not without it's flaws though, and I've already got a shopping list put together to make this motor bullet-proof (basically turn it into the AM General 6500 'Optimizer' that is the final update of the motor released in 2000 and still being produced)

    *ramble ramble*

ANYWAY, yes, I'm loving the truck lol but I'd still love to find one that's 4x4 someday xD

  3. more I dug, the more I found things I didn't like with it :/

argh, and the guy withe QX4 sold while I was on my way to see it

*sigh* but I found myself something else

(no hate please, found in FAR to good condition for the price to pass up)

'98 Chevy 2500 Ext Cab. 2wd auto with a 6.5L Turbo Diesel under the hood

since it's 2wd I won't be tempted to build it into a trail truck lol I'm still using my WD21 for that

and this truck will be able to tow the pathy to and from the trails next year too :)

or I might flip it and get another, newer, R50. No idea yet, but I'm kind of getting addicted to the turbo spool in this truck xD

  4. Alright lads (and Pezzy) I now have my sights set on another vehicle

    Still an R50 chassis, but this one's a '98 QX4

More pricey (for me anyway) vs the '96 path I was looking at, and it's an automatic *sigh*

but, it looks like it's in top condition and I won't have to worry about anything if I pick it up

on my way to look at it now =)

I'll be back on the road in a pathy yet XD

  5. I've seen some guys with cloth style 'socks' over top their CV boots, either clamped or zip-tied on either end.

Seems like good, cheap insurance to keep crud out of the boots in the event that they split.

Not sure where they got them, but the material looked like a canvas, definitely looked like it would do a good job anyway.

Think it might be worth looking into

  6. I want some pics too!!!

this thread is awesome guys, might just start to love my R50 more than my WD21 (shhhhhhhhh don't tell the other guys that)

Definitely considering an SFD within the next year

For now, I'll just have to hope and pray the 33"s fit off my old truck on to this one without too much screwing around with just AC 2" lift

  7. i am in the design stages on make skids from front to back to just the gas tank. so if u can hold off for a month or 2 then i can make on for you.

not sure if they are going to be alumn or steel yet. steel might just be way to heavy

will have the mounting bolts sunk into the skid so they arents stickin out and catching on anything

can be ordered for bolt on or weld on applications

    so stay tuned...

    git 'R Done!!

I'm finally in the R50 parts market now and I need this thing to hold together xD

  8. Holy hell in a hand basket xD

You R50 guys are SO complicated when it comes to slapping on some tires and making them go round without f'in anything up!!

WD's, if there's not enough room, slam in bigger pucks between the frame and body

if there's still not, keep cutting stuff until there is >_<

    /minirant

    *sigh*

on a side note... I need help making the 33" Mickey T's fit onto this beatup R50 I just bought >_>

SO, with AC lift, to prevent rubbing from a 33x12.5R15 tire on anything IMPORTANT (suspension bits and junk), I need WHAT amount of back space??

dont worry about the non-important stuff (fenders, plastic junk, brake lines or my feet, I've got a grinder for those)

total backspacing upfront required is... what, still 3.75" ?

    thanks guys xD
