  1. Thanks Dowser, pointed me in the exact right direction. I opened the hood when it happened again, looked under the throttlebody area and saw a piece of hose connecting the two sides of the fuel rail, two clamps on each, hose looks pretty old. Completely soaked in fuel. So I am going to grab a new piece of hose and re-install. Thanks again Dowser and adamzan!
  2. I have owned my pathy for about 2 weeks now, 95 XE Sport with 233k kms on it, and on three separate occasions I have smelled raw gasoline fumes inside. The first time it happened I thought it was someone elses car, there was an older boat of a car in front of me and I figured yeah this guy is pumping gasoline straight out his tailpipe... then the second and third time it happened I pulled over immediately and popped the hood. I could smell it very strong under the hood, like the air coming up from the fan had a constant strong gasoline odour, yet visually I cannot see any leaks or any problems. I checked at the tail pipe to see if the exhaust could be the culprit, but it smelled normal to me, no excessive odour. Anyone have any thoughts? Normally I would just wait until I took it in to see a mechanic, but I have to drive this thing to work every day, and I don't want to end up with a fire under my hood or something. The previous owner complained about bad gas mileage too, but I personally thought it was rather good when I got 450 kms on my first tank... any thoughts on that? Thanks for any suggestions or comments on this, I am hoping it's not too big of a deal. Going to pick up a fire extinguisher in the meantime... you know... just in case steve
  3. Did another little upgrade today... had to get that spare tire out of the interior space. The basket has an extension piece that can be ordered which will extend it about two feet, I think I will because the spare pretty much takes up the whole thing. Unfortunately my rack has some issues, I can't move two of the rails because the buttons are jammed, so I may end up replacing those pieces so I can slide one of the supports forward.
  4. Thanks for all the welcomes guys... And thanks for the comments on the photo, its an HDR composite from 3 exposures in low light, tried to keep it as realistic as possible while bringing out the detail. Photography is my first hobby, this pathy is my new second one Well it must have been meant to be, I jumped on Kijiji this morning and searched in the Wheels and Tires section, and there was a post just 5 minutes old with 15" toyota chromies with cooper 31x10.50s for $150. I jumped on the deal and took the gamble that with my XE 'Sport' I could fit the 31s no problem as I had read on these forums, went out this afternoon to have some fun and had absolutely no problems with the tires rubbing, even at full lock. Here are some pictures with the new shoes, I hadn't noticed before but im missing two of my mud flaps, so I will be removing the remaining ones. I can see that the rear mud flap actually touches the tire Again the shots were taken just at sun down, I seem to always be running late when I get out to the trails. Gotta decide what to do next, as you can see I don't waste much time, I've owned it a week! I'd really like to remove the horrid pin striping but not sure if that is even possible without causing major damage to the paint.
  5. Im in Calgary new here too, joined because I saw this post I went south to McLean Creek just for a drive the other day, the gate is closed of course until April 30th, but still got to test out the 4x4 on the pipeline access roads. Whats up Calgary peeps?
  6. hey all, new here from Calgary, Alberta. I am a recently new owner of a 1995 XE Sport which has 233k KM on it. It is in decent shape, though the previous owner has definitely done some cancer cover up painting. The frame is not looking too bad, but may need some attention soon before it gets too far gone. Right now it is stock, with mismatched shoes and a few issues. What I would like to do is prepare this pathy for some mild off-road action, trying to figure out if I can put 31s on it without having rub issues and looking into the cheapest (but still safe) options for lift if I have to. My spare tire is in the back interior area, so I would like to get a cage up on the roof rack and maybe put that spare up on that cage if its legal (or wise to do). I plan on also having the frame looked at by a professional before throwing a trailer hitch on it, want to be able to tow a camper trailer with it. I will be spending a lot of time on here searching the forums and try not to ask questions that have been repeated! Here are a few photos, I did some post processing on them because of really bad lighting so they may look a bit surreal, someday I will get better pictures and I wont mess around with them so much Look forward to getting to know this place, maybe theres even some peeps out in my area itching for McLean Creek to open on April 30th.... -steve
