  1. I agree with AndyC. Mine doesn't rattle but I hate it being in the way when I need to open the back. Sometimes with a trailer connected I cant open it enough to open the hatch. The only reason it's still there is because I don't want it in the cargo area. If it fit underneath a WD it would still be there.

  2. We should do that with pathfinders! There wouldn't be any 180s to turn around though. Whenever I get around to building a roof rack I will build a mount for my 1919A4 and go ride around town with it to see how long it takes to get harassed by the man.

  3. Here is another question..What was your first job ever..?

Besides walking a lawn mower around house to house asking to mow their lawns for cash...I worked at a local Pizza place after school...stuck it out for 3 years. :headwall:

    I got y'all all beat!

My first job was leveling grain in a grain dryer. The grain was dumped in the dryer with an auger from the top so it was in a pile. We had to get inside with shovels and level it out then make a depression in the center so the air would circulate through it evenly when the dryer fan was running. Rice was the worst because it wouldn't slide on it's own. Corn and soybeans you could just play king of the mountain in and it would level off on it's own.

  4. I cut iron! Machinist currently in the oil field. I run a mazak 650 Integrex machining center at least 60 hours a week and sometimes Saturday too.

B, you need to move down here to Louisiana! Machinist are in high demand in the oil patch. Also we have plenty mud to finally get that pathfinder of yours dirty!

  5. The idea of this rear built was to use JGC coils... once the first mock-up was together it was obvious the Jeep coils were not stiff enough. A guy can find stiffer coils... however they tend to be short and don't flex as well as the longer coils.

So off to the drawing board again.... imagine that!

So after a couple cups of coffee laying under the rig a new idea popped up. The factory rear coil buckets have quite a bit of extra room above them. So why not make new coil buckets that are a couple inches taller.. and while I am at it.. make the new buckets adjustable. Oh darn.. something new to make!!!

With a little research some Rubicon Express 3.5 inch lift coils were purchased....

So after 3-4 days of fabbing up new stuff... the new mock up come to a weight on wheels rest. This is far from being done.. .however thought I would share the progress.

It ended up being the exact same lift as before with longer/stiffer coils... Sweet!

  6. I've been looking for a set of Legos!

For the guys fussing about crushing a straight body pathfinder, y'all should see some of the pathfinders that go through our pick a part. I rarely see one with rust on the body or the frame. My 87 has more rust than most of the one I see go to the crusher. Can't save them all! I just grab any parts I think I can use now or in the future and store them up. wife is real happy about that!

  7. Cool! I don't mind if I have to change the base just as long as the shifter itself will fit in mine. I grabbed one Saturday from a 92. It looked different but the body is so much higher from the trans that it looks different in that respect too. I grabbed the transfer case shifter too and I was able to take it off from the hole inside the cab. I only had to crawl under to disconnect the linkage.

  8. If you decide to shave .50" off your head while your at it you will be getting sligtly more involved AND I will have to call you a coppy cat... (I'll have results to share with everyone in about a month.) But if you beat me too it, you need to modify your t-belt tentioner to take up more slack or your belt will not get tight enough.

If you shave that much you will need more than a new tensioner! I'm sure you meant .05. Won't you need adjustable cam gears too to get the cams back where they need to be?

  9. There is only one hole in the intake around 2.5". four bolts but not evenly placed.

    Just buy one of these.

Only problem is the mounting plate is so low that you will have to cut off a couple of ears on the throttle linkage on the carb to clear the valve cover. You can use a spacer but will probably not get as much low end as with the carb lower.

As for the distributor some guys left everything else like it was and let the ECU run the distributor like the injection was still there. I'm working with a company to build a modified chevy HEI distributor for a VG. They are kind of slow though.

  10. Washed it! Took all day!

The down side playing in the mud, the clean up!

Had to get it up so I could get underneath with the pressure washer. There was a 1 inch thick layer of mud inside each wheel.

I even had to spray the mud out of the brake rotor fins! I don't have any clean pics because it was dark by the time I finished.
