  1. So I went to a place about 4 hours up in maine called Rocky Mountain Terrain Park with about 30 of my buddies and there rigs; we were night wheeling up a mountain and I stuffed my tire in the driver side rear wheel well so much it popped my fender flare completely off, I didnt want to stop to grab it so I didnt have to hold anyone up so I said I would get it on the way back down.... So on the way back down I still couldnt find it; and we went out the next day in the light and still couldnt find it.... So now I dont have a fender flare on the driverside rear well.... Does anyone know if there is anyone who sells single flares or a cheap set of 4....? I am thinking about gettign some flares for a s10 blazer and seeing if those would fit If I trimmed them and or my fender a little..... Or woudl anyone know another model vehicle where the fender wells are about the same size?

  2. The lift consists of dropping the subframe 4" with blocks, 4" motor mount spacers, 4" strut spacers, custom elongated steering linkage with a extra u-joint, and custom coil springs for the back with a panhard bar drop.... The thing that sucks is no one makes lift kits for this and it all has to be custom made; but its a good also because not everyone has a lifted R50 this big, and not many people can say they built their truck from the ground up..... So far I think I am the only one in New England with this lift. Check out that link and it will fill you in on the lifting process...

  3. I already took a sawsall to the front but I can't put any bigger tires on it. But now I'm gonna try to find a bigger lift and go for bigger tires. I'm pretty sure their the same tire. Its gvot the same exact look and it looks like the bolts are the same. Unfortunatly my buddy who sold it to me isn't around so all I have to go on is what he told me. Where did you get the 6 inch liftkit from mud

    Custom made

  4. what do you have in it for a lift? it looks like a 2" with 32" tires... this is a 6" lift with 33x13.5x15 super swampers i actually just got 34x10.5x15 swampers... havet got pics up yet but its tall

  5. So after putting my leveling kit in, which involved me unbolting my shocks so my axle would drop further down so I could squeeze the rubber spacers in then bolted my shocks back up; I took my pathy to a 45 degree ramp to test out the flex and see how the new spacers worked and halfway up the ramp i heard a quick snap and got out to see that my Rancho RS5000 snapped off right at the mount. GREAT..... it isn't a big job at all to replace those shocks but at $55 a pop it sucks because I also have to wait 3 days for them to come in and I have to reo the bushings in the shock to make them fit my pathy. They are Rancho RS5000's for a 2000 Ford F250 RWD V8 with a 4" lift. They are very good shocks and perform very well but has anyone had this problem of it breaking like that? Maybe I tightened the bolt holding it on to much?

  6. So my tires stick out a good 3-4" and I got a warning from the cops the other day.... I have been looking around for the longest time and can't seem to find fender flares; I do not want to take the rubber garden lining and rivet it to my fenders because I hate the way it looks. I have searched fender flare making companies such as bushwacker and such with no luck... they sell stock looking replacements but those dont have coverage either. I have heard of the idea of getting flares for like a yota truck or a 4runner and cutting your fenders to fit the flares but am wary of doing so because I do not know if it will work, but I guess I will never know unless I try, so does anyone have any input or has anyone had this problem and prevaled? BTW I have 34x10.5x15 TSL Swampers on my R50 with 6" of lift.

  7. I looked under it last night and the bushings for the lower arms look good and the arms don't look bent, the upper arm on the driver side looks like the bushing could use some replacing and the upper on the passenger side where the wheel is close to the running board doesn't look like much bushing is there, so After doing some research in the pinned section of the forum I think I just need to put some new poly bushings in the uppers and should be ok, I can always do the lowers which are much easier to do down the road. And I put a 1" leveling rubber spacer in the rear because my custom springs have finally sagged to where they are going to be and the back was 1.5" lower than than the front which I have a 4" SFD in.

  8. So yesterday after getting a 1" leveling kit put into my pathy and test driving it, it was making a sound like the tire was rubbing on the passenger rear side; I got out and my axle looked kinda weird, on the driver side between the axle and the running board I can fit almost 3 fingers between them, on the passenger side I can get 1 maybe 1-1/2.... It looks like my axle moved foreward on the passenger side? Could this be caused by the bushings in my 4link being bad?

  9. Well I for one can tell you I wheel the sh@# out of my r50 and it takes every little bit I throw at it; I have 6" of lift and it gets through things that some jeeps don't.... also because I try them and then everyone else doesn't want to go after I did it. I have pulled out numerous jeeps, a couple yotas, and 2 landrovers.... don't get me wrong I have gotten stuck a few times myself, but I love the offroad capabilities of my R50. The only things that I have broke on mine was snapping my tie rod while rock climbing, the a/c compressor went out and I had to replace, and having to replace 1 CV after I tore the boot on the trail and filled it with mud.

  10. So it got upto 98 degrees today in nh so i decided to put my a/c on which i rarely do because of gas milage and hey its nh.... so i put it on and it worked great blowing ice cold air for about 15 minutes then it started blowing hot air so i decided maybe it needed a recharge because its been 2 years since i had it recharged, so i get home and hear this grinding sound coming from under my hood and low and behold the a/c pulley is barely moving and sounds like the bearings are shot..... I don't even know where to get a new compressor because it is hard enough to find parts for this truck on CL or a junkyard.... Anyone have any ideas? Also i have never done a compressor before, does anyone have a write up on this or some help? Thanks

  11. OK I just got my 97 se pathy and if i went and bought some 31 BFG A/T they WOULD fit on my stock suspension with out any problems?????Right????? :scratchhead:

And if i was to go by a suspension lift would the one in the link below work????

    https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-deluxe-suspension-package-p-1961.html

They would fit with some trimming, and as for the lift you should get the KYB struts that come in the kit for $790.00 they are much better and go buy OEM upper strut mounts because the ones that come with the kit are junk.

  12. Good to see so many people modifying their rides, I personally LOVE my SFD and thanks Andrew for hooking me up with it; I trust his work and have definitly put the SFD to the test with some crazy wheeling and it held up. I am however already starting to do research on my next project which will probably take a little longer and more saving up but I want a SAS! I am in the beginning stages of doing research just like I was a year ago when I found out about the SFD, but I am definitly enjoying my lift the way it is and can't wait to start modifying more. I love customizing my pathy and knowing that you did it all yourself and it will hold up to some abuse is even a better feeling.

  13. Okay so I am possibly installing my sfd this weekend if we get around it it (other stuff like fabbing sliders and stingers comes first lol) I have written up a rough list or instruction set of sorts and im going to put it up here for those of you who have installed a SFD before to read over if you would :hugs: And any tips or missed steps that I left out post up what it is, or a different way of doing it

    Prep

-Soak all bolts in PB the night prior to install

Probably a good idea and would move things along easier but i didnt do that

-Rent Coil Compressor for rear coils

I didnt have to get a coil compressor for the rear springs i just took the shocks off and jacked up one side at a time from the shock mounts and fully flexed the rear axle out and the springs should go in with a little help from a pry bar...

-Get front diff fluid to change since its going to be pulled anyways (dont know what to get, suggestions?)

-Buy brake fluid to top off after bleeding brakes

-Get rear brake line made and remember to bring it lol

-Tube to extend the breathers in both the front and the rear?

    Front SFD

-Jack up front end and place jackstands under the pathy, with the parking break on as well. Remove front wheels and tires

-Remove front driveshaft, cv's, and take out front axle, or drop it enough to access drivers side engine mount. *Probably just easier to remove it?*

Its easier to just remove it and then use a jack to put it back in place

-Unbolt and tie up the front struts, to prevent them from falling down

I took my struts out and put the strut spacers on then put them back, its easier to tighten bolts when not confined to a small space.

-Place jack with piece of wood on top under oil pan on engine and unbolt the engine mount bolts. (all while being extremely careful to not move the engine + or - 1 inch

-Place second jack under front subframe and unbolt the subframe and lca mount

I found it easier to do one side at a time

-After securing the steering wheel with the seatbelt or string, unbolt the steering

-Carefully lower the subframe while watching to not stretch any lines or connections that may still be on

-Lower just enough to place blocks on the engine mount and subframe, and place the strut spacers on

-Install front steering extension and tighten down all bolts for the lift blocks and the struts

-Re-install front axle if it was taken out

-Replace front cv's and front driveshaft

-Untie steering wheel and lower all jacks supporting front end and jackstands

    Rear

-Jack up back end and support with jackstands under pathy and also under rear axle

    -Remove rear coils and shocks

Dont put jackstands under the axle just before the lower control arms

-Disconnect spring for the lsv (disco the panhard rod?)

-Remove old brake line and replace with extended line

You should clamp the soft line before replacing to keep brake fluid from spilling so much...

-Place new spring spacers and bolt down and weld them in place

-Replace springs and re install bump stops and shocks

    Final Steps

-Make sure all bolts are still tight and turn wheels to make sure there is no binding

-After admiring in awe the sheer awesoemeness of the sfd take it for its first spin just around the block a few times to make sure everything feels good

-Recheck that all bolts are still tight and weld in the subframe blocks and steering extension

    You shouldnt need to weld

Thats my list so far, I think I covered everything. But I have a few questions yet.

-As far as the engine mounts go I think that once im sure everything in good im just going to try and tack weld the bolts on the passenger side mount to secure them, cause once everything is good I dont want to have to drop the axle again to tack the other side.

-As far as the axle goes, how would you just lower it? Its on brackets so how can you just lower the axle it looks to be like its either in or out

-Breather extension- what diam. tubing do I need to extend the breathers is there a breather in the front?

-last thing what did yall do with your lsv spring and is anyone using the stock panhard rod? I will probably wind up having to make a drop bracket of sorts cause I imagine that it wont fit to the stock location with the spacers.

Thats it, I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if those who have experience with a sfd or the front axle to chimme in and tell me if I have got everything covered :hugs: This is not something I can afford to screw up on
