  1. I would do what my1path said. If you get another rig thats used you will still need to put parts into it. If you buy something new it may last awhile befor it needs parts but then you have a payment. That $2000.00 repair bill will seem small by the time you get your new rig payed off. $ 2000.00 wont be long getting chewed up in a couple of months on payments. Then you still need to keep making payments. Take that $ 2000.00 repair bill and get it fixed or do some upgrades like my1path said. My 2 cents.

  2. It was a fluid line not sure of the exact line though. They said that there was a air pocket traped in the line. I have no idea how it got there eather because I had the truck for 2 years befor it happend and I changed the fluid when I first bought it.

I had the trouble when I was going down a hill doing about 50 55 mph and turned the over drive button off. Rpm's shot up to 4500 and stayed like it.

  3. I had a similar problem with my 88 when i owned it. Its not the same thing that you are describing though. When the pathfinder reached 45 to 55 mph it use to stay at that speed and rev to about 4000 4500 rpm. My first thought was the transmission was toast and the clutchs were slipping. So i brought it to a trans shop and got them to look at it and it turned out to be a line air locked. Only cost me 50 bucks to get it fixed. Better than having a trans rebuilt. Dont know if this helps any with your problem. Post when you find out the problem and good luck.

  4. Getting ready to change my timing belt, tensioners, water pump and thermostat. The queston is should I change the crank seal and cam seals or leave them alone if they are fine. Or when I have everything apart is it just as well to change them out. Any input would be great.

    Thanks

  5. Quick question, I was in the market to get a tow hitch and put it off, til about today. I need to tow a friends jeep about a half a mile up to school to fix his trans that went out this past week. Normally my buddies truck would pull it but he is out of town, and I was in the market for a hitch anyways so I figured why not just get one and tow the jeep up to where we are swapping the trans. Anyways, im driving to houston to pick up a used towhitch from a 98, for 50 bucks. New autoparts stores want like 162 without tax and stuff :scratchhead: So I am driving 2 hours even with paying for gas thats around 100 bucks including the price of the hitch. So with the hitch being used and all...no instructions. My question is...do you have to take off the rear bumper in order to install the hitch? I looked at it this afternoon and it looks like the bolts where the brackets are now, have nuts on the inside of the frame rail or whatever you want to call it. SO how does it go on? Any info is much appreciated!!! :wiggle::new576:

I have a 98 so im not shure what the rear of a 2001 is like. When i put mine on i did not have to remove the bumper. My pathfinder has the nuts on the inside of the fram rail as well and all you need is the bolts. But they are a bi#ch to get in on the top on the driver side. As for yours it might be easy but I had a little bit of touble. Hope this helps you some.

  6. Hello

I am new to this site but not new to offroading. I have been offroading for about 9 years. I started with a 1988 Pathfinder and now own a 1998 Pathfinder with a 2'' AC lift and 31'' Super Swamper Thornbird tires. I look foward to talking to many of you to see what you are doing with your rigs, and getting help when i have a problem.

    Thanks
