  1. - gets about 18-20mpg. depends on driving

    - tires are 265-75-16 BFG rugged trails on stock Nismo frontier rims (16x[8?]) plan to upgrade

    - titan is my dad's (same color as mine, that bugs me :P )

thanks for the comments you guys! I get the final inspection tomorrow, that means I go 4x4in on sunday!!!!!! (might take ole pathy instead since I dont wanna get my new truck scratched/dirty  )

  2. Federal inspection?

yeah, Im Canadian, and I bought it down in Washington. It has to be inspected at US customs, Canadian customs, Canadian Tire (they put in the DTRL) then inspected once more at ICBC (insurance corp of british col) before I can insure it. Sounds like alot of hassle, but it was actually not too hard, as long as you have all the paperwork you need. All in all I saved about $8000 by buying down in the states. That $8000 will go into lift, tires, rims, bumpers, and all that good stuff :crossedwires:

  4. alright, so I put everything back together the right way, and noticed that the black+yellow wire at the ignition, at the solder point, it was very weak and broke off when i nudged it a bit. Im guessing the weak connection was my problem, since I hooked up a new 14ga wire from where I cut the old ign wire, clean up the connection point, placed the new wire on and it fired up right away about 15 times in a row. So now all I have to do is solder the new wire on, and see if that fixes it once and for all. close call there hooking up that secondary wire, lucky the relay didnt fry, all that was cooked was the meter fuse. whew

  5. ok yikes... got everything back together after water pump install. ran great, popped new plugs in (damn you #6). Put a new skidplate on, Everything was going smooth, so I decided to tackle this starting problem once and for all.... looking around for the relay, could not find anything that said "Inhibitor Relay". Some places said its near the battery, some say its in front of the windshield washer fluid tank, so I looked everywhere. The only relay box I could find was near the battery, on the inner fender/apron assembly. I quickly looked underneath to look for a black wire with yellow tracer, huzzah! found one going into the relay labeled "check relay" (a blue relay). Since I couldnt find ANY other relays, I did like any moron would do and ripped open the steering column apart, quickly finding the black/yellow wire. I cut and stripped both the black with yellow tracer wires (the one at the ign and the one at the relay) ran a peice of 14ga wire from the ign wire thru the window of the truck, over the windshield, and hooked it into the other wire at the relay. Figured I was the @!*%, so I turned the key... nothing (relay still clicked) tried several times at starting, to no avail. Finally I called it quits after the wire started smoking and looks like the wires at the relay are a little fried (not too badly I hope, just a little bit)

    my question is now... WTF?

  6. whoops, didnt actually search for the ignition problem :blush02: . Theres a hardbody running around town with a bodylift and 11.5 TSLs, nobody bothers him, its a small town, they dont care about things like that, so Im sure Id be fine.

thanks for the link k9sar, I never knew you were so nice to canadians! ;)

  7. So Im once again back in the Pathfinder world. My 240sx is complete, so Im using it as my daily instead of the pathy. The pathy is now my project car and I finally get a chance to do some real (and much needed) work on the ole 'finder.

    Jobs are:

    1. Water pump is (was) leaking at the telltale. I took everything out, replaced the h20 pump etc, new t-belt, in process of putting back together and painting parts now.

    2. Pathfinder doesnt always start. Most of the time, when I turn the key, nothing happens (no crank, no nothing), you then turn it back off, back on (maybe a few times) and there she goes. Runs excellent, idles fine. Does this in all weather. First I replaced solenoid, didnt change anything, so I went for a new starter, no change. Its got a brand new Optima yellowtop in it. Although, it is a 5spd, and I thought there was a type of 'clutch disconnect switch' in them? Mine is not there anyway. So Im thinking I'll stop by a junkyard and scrounge one from there? What else could this be? Ignition switch failure?

    3. Lift..... (prepare yourself for some newb questions now)

once I get engine running and operating right, I eventually want to lift the bad boy. I was thinking a 3" body lift since its alot cheaper, and I have 3 vehicles that need work, so I need to save my money as much as I can ;) Since I've been in the 240sx world for a while, Ive forgotten most things I knew about the lifting world. I would like some big(ish) tires that are definetly WIDE. I want the tires to stick out. Whats the max width people have run successfully with a 3" BL? BTW, tire would probably be Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 32/??.5/15 AC lift is probably the way Id go, since I cant find any other body lift for a pathy. whats the widest I can go with a 3"? (with trimming of course, thats no biggie)

Any suggestions/comments? (besides search :P ) I cant read all the posts on the site since I work 11hrs/day, come home and work on at least one of my cars, so my free time is limited. I wish I could search everything and read all of them, but theres not enough hours in the day...

thanks in advance, and sorry for writing a novel.

  8. ^Yeah thats what Im doing. I might dump the tranny in tho :)

well, we painted it on Monday

The color is completely custom, but its close to Subaru Blue. I know it looks super ricey in pictures, but its not. There is more pearls in it than metallics, so its gonna change alot. All I have to do is put bumpers on, and a few more misc things.

not bad for $700 and a bottle of crown royal :tonguefinger:

  9. well... I bought the engine and tranny. Nothing like 4 hours in a junkayrd in 30+ weather, no clouds in sight, wearing coveralls, tearing out an engine. Also picked up some new coils, so the Pathy wont feel left out (the Pathy sag is getting worse). Final masking of the 240 is being done tomorrow by your truly, painting Monday morning.

The past 2 weeks have been hell... minimum work day for me was 12 hours, plus school! Start at 5am and dont leave till 10pm starts getting to you after a little bit. Sanding an entire car thats primered by hand twice takes longer than you would think, especially when you do it alone and burnt-out. I'll be so glad when this project is done.

    :crossedwires:

  10. I lied....

anyway, went to the junky-yard today, got a new rear bumper and found a 240 with rear damage. DOHC+5spd tranny+everything I need to swap the engines for $350 CDN. I might get that and rebuild it (mileage unknown, dont even know if it runs), and rebuild it so its a beast.... higher comp pistons, new rings, etc, maybe new cams, and actually make this car into a sleeper! im thinking... velocity stacks!!!!!!!!!

I wish..... I might do it... we'll see how the finances play out

    aint it sexy? :tonguefinger:

  11. Thanks!!

yeah Im pretty lucky to have access, I worked again today (good thing its a long weekend) and sanded down the primer a bit. Only spent a couple hours, but at least still did something. This morning I took the starter out of the Pathy and replaced the solenoid, so it was nice to go in and do an easy job like sanding.

BTW, grrr, I'd like to get the name of the guy who put the starter where it is....

  12. Uh oh!

    P1000549.jpg

Another good 12hour unpaid Saturday was once again worth it. Last coat of primer was set down at 8.30 tonight. Pretty good progress today

    -shaved antenna

-removed rear bumper (what a pain in the ass BTW)

    -took out tails

    -sanded everything that needed sanding

-took out mirrors and door handles

-slapped some bondo on some dimers

I did alot more, but everything else is a blur, and Im pretty tired, might go in tomorrow early and start sanding.

That's the only picture you get right now the next picture you see of it, it'll be all done!

  13. I meant no frame rust, body rust I can fix myself. I do have a couple spare T-belts hanging up in the workshop for the Pathy, and yes, I can do it myself, so I would give everything a once over. I'll probably offer him 5K canadian (4500 USD) and list all the things it needs, that usually helps

  14. Seems like any I see around BC for sale are either rusted to *&@$ or have way too high mileage. This one has neither rust nor high miles. Btw that picture doesnt do it justice, it was a moving shot. Ive never seen a 93+ hardbody go for less than $4000, and $4000 is a good deal around here for one. I saw a 2WD 94 that was keyed on both sides, automatic, 200,000kms for $7500.

  15. Hey guys, Im looking at a local hardbody thats for sale.

    1995 4x4 5spd V6

    140000kms (good) about 87000 miles

    Purple in color :/

    rollbar

prerunner style rear bumper, nice big shackle on it

    3" Body lift

    31x12.5x15 TSL super swampers

    American racing rims

no carpet inside, he went thru a water crossing and it came up to the doors, ruining the carpet. seats/door panels still good.

    stickers everywhere

    inside is a disgusting mess

needs a tailgate, new corner and signal lights.

    $5500 CDN (roughly $5000 USD)

defenetly needs a little TLC. It sat in the same spot for about 2 years waiting for an inspection (came from Alberta). I went to ask him if he would sell it 5-6 months ago, he wouldnt. Now he says he wants too, he just needs to find a new truck.

seems like a good enough deal, Ive looked at it close, and theres little rust on it, and other than the tailgate, minor body damage. milage is low enough. This would be my 4th vehicle, so I need to clean house a little, which means pathy goes to another home :(

A truck seems more practical to me (even one with super swampers  )

Anyone own a hardbody? I cant find any forums just for HB's, like this site...

  16. Hey, nice 240! The interior design looks much more modern than 1990. Looks great. Too bad it's automatic.

Did the previous owner crash that car on the 99? I may have seen it before because I drive the highway everyday. I nearly wiped out a couple times from black ice too.

I had 2 vehicles for a while, but the insurance cost was killing me. Now I only have the Pathy, but the fuel cost is killing me!

yeah he did. Im really happy with the car, like you said, it doesnt look like it was made in 1989, even the exterior is more rounded, not boxy. Ive come around to the idea that its an auto, I wouldve prefered a 5spd, but this'll do. And, there is NO RUST on the car, I looked everywhere.

So we pulled the apron today. BUDDA!!! came out really nice. pretty much took not even an hour to get it rough, then measured up and tweaked here and there for a bit. All I gotta do is weld up some cracks where it buckled, prime it, tweak it a bit more for fenders to fit perfect and its really to prep for paint.

  17. I hope its not an SR20... anyway, good news, today we put it up on the frame machine and anchored it down. fenders, hood, bumper, rad, absorber, intake, etc is all off and we're gonna start pullin tomorrow :fireworx: Im gonna install new springs and e-fan while its all apart.
