  1. Wow, I didn't even think of cardboard. Must need more coffee than I have in me right now. I think I'll go and try to rig something with cardboard until I find a better solution. I'll post the results once done. Thanks for the great idea Grim, don't know how I didn't think of it....
  2. I tried looking online for one on ebay, craigslist and googled it, even tried 4x4parts.com in case they had anything, so far nothing. I'm thinking about just covering the inside of the sun roof with duct tape, but then if I want to take it off it'll leave behind that residue and make a mess...
  3. Hey there guys. I haven't really used the off road lights on the top of my pathy that the previous owner put on, at least not while driving, only when I need to light up the entire campsite and a fire won't do. Last weekend I was heading up for a overnight get drunk by the lake and sleep in a tent in the cold trip and had to go up some pretty steep switchback gravel roads. I really needed that extra light the high beams or the roof lights provide, but when I turned them on, all the light from the roof lights came in through the sunroof, hit my window and gave me bad glare. It was still drivable, but high beams worked way better and I used them instead. The roof lights are way way way more powerful than the high beams but are unfortunately sitting right behind the sunroof mounted on the factory roof rack/ski rack. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem and if they've found a solution (ie. something to cover the inside without messing up the sunroof). I could just move the lights in front of the sunroof, but that would take a bit of work and a place to do it which I don't have (apartment with no underground parking). I did use the search but couldn't find anything that relates to my little problem. Thanks for any help in advance, KS
  4. Yah, I didn't want to go through all the wrenching myself. I trust my mechanic though, treats my pathy like it's his.
  5. Thanks for your help guys. I ended up having to take it to a shop, couldn't replace the knock sensor where the truck was parked. Ended up that the Fuel Pump was FUBAR. So now, after $600 and a fuel pump later, the pathy is back in working order. Sucks that now I don't have any gas money for it for another week....
  6. Thanks for all the welcomes guys! I'm attaching a picture of my truck with my buddy's yota called the orange crusher. Mine's all stock with 31s, his is lifted with 33s and all straight axle with a 22re engine, very nice truck but I'm still biased to my pathy. There's no wheeling in Burnaby, usually end up going out towards Mission and up to Harrison. I've never been to Squamish for wheeling, i've seen a lot of trails in the backroads mapbook for the area though.
  7. Hey guys, So here's the story with my problem: Went out to get some mud on the Pathfinder last weekend. Mission was successful. Headed back home, stopped on the trails at some points to push passenger front fender back to stop it rubbing on tire (damage for pushing some saplings out of the way to go back on a trail). Stopped for food, made it back home perfectly fine, no problems at all. Go back to the pathy 3 to 4 hours later, tried to start it and it just wouldn't. It's turning over and cranking but the engine just won't start. Can't really smell any fuel when trying to start. Entire engine bay is pretty much covered in mud at the top half (got in through the grill?). I checked my ECU for trouble codes and it spat out code 34 for my knock sensor. Is it possible that the mud damaged the knock sensor somehow or the connection for it, or is it the fuel lines that might have gotten clogged? Also, would a knock sensor being damaged cause the car to not start at all like what's happening right now. I know the knock sensor tries to detect engine knock and then tries to stop the ignition timing to prevent engine damage (para-phrasing from 94 repair manual), but I don't really understand how it won't let the car start. Also, how tough is it to replace the knock sensor? It's underneath the intake on top of the block I think, so I probably have to take the intake off to get to it. Problem is that I don't have any kind of place to wrench on it, it's sitting in my complex's parking lot right now. Pathfinder is stock, running 31" tires, and year is 1993, the SE-V6 model. Thanks for any help in advance. I really want to get the pathy back in working order, feels like something's missing with it not working.
  8. Hey Guys, Brought my pathy at the start of the summer to do some off-roading and being able to get to camping sites that people in their civics can't. Since then I've loved the pathy, she's ticked her way up mountains, through creeks, over rocks and of course she fly's on the highway. The pathfinder's a 1993, in cherry red and the last owner put roof lights on the ski rack. Sadly, the mud she went through last weekend might've proved too much for her since she doesn't want to start anymore (I'm posting a thread in The Garage section about it too). I live in Burnaby BC, work in Burnaby too and try to get out to do some wheeling whenever I get the chance. Found this site when I was trying to see what other people do to their pathys for straight axle swaps as I plan on doing one once I get the money for it. But yah, here's to meeting up with cool people with really cool trucks Peace
