  1. It happened to me. Replaced speed sensor twice and tried all the nylon gears available, ended up changin the transfer case twice and finally got a good match up. NJ is the same no speedo no insp. pass. It's the gear in the case.
  2. I bought my '95 PF LE with a non working speedo/odo thinking it was a minor thing (cable replacement). Then I find out it has a speed sensor. Pulled that out and it looked normal to me, then I found out it was supposed to have a gear on the end. Ordered the gear from McKinney (big red one) and everything was fine, CEL went out, spedo worked, didn"t get far enough to check the odo as it all went bad again in 500', CEL back on, no speedo. I pulled the sensor and found the gear totally chewed up like an apple core. I checked around and found out there are multiple drive gears that fit the sensor. So far I have installed the red one, about 11/16" diameter, and chewed that one up, and a blue one, about 1/2" in diameter which must be too small because I still have no speedo. Does anyone know the part #'s or existance of other drive gears? This truck is a recent purchase and it appears the transfer case was changed so it may not be a '95. I don't want to have to scrap this truck but in NJ, no speedo/odo, no inspection sticker.

Who is the manufacturer and what is the part number?
  4. Thought of that right off was told it is an LED molded into the PC board that conrols all instruments. Wrong info?
  5. Greetings All, New guy here. So I bought a '95 Pathy LE three weeks ago, 164K on the clock, had some issues but the major stuff was OK. Had a CEL, traced it to the speed sensor pulled that, no drive gear. Bought a drive gear, installed it, apple cored it in 1/10 of a mile. Bought another one (less teeth) installed it same thing. Inspected white nylon gear in transfer case through speed sensor hole, spins freely, teeth sharp, no flat spots. What gives? Anyone ever hear of or run into this problem before? My 30 day grace period with NJDMV is soon over. Cannot pass inspection with a CEL, any fixes? Can the code be programed out? Can a battery with a pulse signal generator be hooked to the lead to trick the computer? Can a small 12V DC motor be connected to the sensor to generate a sinal to the computer? As you can guess I'm near the end of solutions. I can't justify 1500.00 to take out the transfer case, rebuild or replace what ever gear drives the sensor and put it back. There are no issues with the drive train 4WD works great, trans shifts smoothly and engine is strong, Body is above average, took care of frame rust, new bumbers, new shocks, new brakes, new bushings, it's just this little nylon gear that is keeping me from enjoying this vehicle. Any suggestions appreciated.
