  1. I have been accused of being too straight forward on several interviews and responded that im not here to bull@!*% im here to show them who i am and what i have to offer and if its not what they want then im not the guy plain and simple...no1 has seemed to have a problem with that but told me it could hurt me later at other jobs but thats just how i am...u get what u see

Since I am in the middle of this myself, what exactly did they want of you? I don't quite understand why you wouldn't be honest and straight forward. Are they wanting you to beat around the bush? Inflate the truth, discount yourself? I don't quite understand what your interviewers were suggesting as a better approach.

  2. I assume the cheapest way for me to re-gear would be to buy a used third member with the 4.636 gears already in it. Is there any specific thing I need to look for in third members besides being an H233B?

Is the only differences in third members being ring and pinion gear teeth numbers and open or LS carriers?

  3. I have a '97 XE with the 4.375 gears in the axle. I have 235/70r15 stock tires but want to go larger. What options do I have to recalibrate the speedo so it reads right after my tire swap. I know it sounds dumb, but it will bug the piss out of me to have it read incorrectly after the swap.

My understanding is the vehicle speed sensor coming out of the trany is what gives the speedo/odo the info. Are there different gears for the VSS available? If so, from where?

Is my only option to change the rear axle gears to the 4.625 found on most LE models?

  4. the tank to tank odo...runs off the same gears as the life odo...with minimal losses its accurate enough...but i would like to see the differences you've recorded between the 2 but from what i read u only track the overall odo not the trip to trip...im sure the factor of error there is less than 5%...unless your saying you have to keep a log over time to find the avg milage your getting...in otherwards kindof the same thing i do...i know if i drive a certain speed i get a certain milage...but if not then i get something different...but we have a different control volume...

I am not saying you are getting a different reading watching trip vs. life odometer. I agree, they will be very close, if not exactly the same measurement; as you said, the trip is driven off the life.

The point I was trying make is that you cant determine how many miles you get per gallon just by looking at the gas gauge and saying, "oh, I am now at 1/4 tank, and the odometer says I went 300 miles; that means I will get 400 miles to this tank."

The only accurate way to measure MPG is to divide the miles driven by the gallons added at the pump.

  5. Just watching the miles tick by on the odometer each time you fill up is not a reliable measure of the MPG your truck is getting. You have to divide the total miles driven by the total gallons of gas added at each fill up to get an accurate measure of MPG. I know it is a pain, but I have a log book I keep in my glove box and fill it out with the miles driven and gallons added at each fillup.

  6. I have a '97 4X2 pathy with the auto trans and have been contemplating towing for some time now. I have a 21' Sea Ray boat; the whole rig weighs about 4500-5000 pounds. The towing cap. according to the manual is 5000 pounds. I have an electronic brake controller installed. I am not concerned about fuel milege.

I have done several small tow tests around town with it and it handles fine, just slow. I have everything set up right, the trailer and truck sit level. What I am really concered with is how the pathfinder will hold up. I would like to install a trans temp gauge as I know heat is the major killer of auto transmissions. Currently, it has the factory auxilary trans cooler inline with the trans cooler built into the radiator.

    Anyone's thoughts on this?

I was reminded about my dilema by this thread: http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=12085&st=0

  7. I have seen people talk about the oil filter relocation kits for the pathfinder. I, however, can not find anything when I search for it. I have a 1997, is it available for mine? Where can I get it?

    Edit:

I found a relocation kit on summit racing.

Has anyone had any success with these? What are peoples' experience with using a setup like this?
