  1. My bad, I meant Magnaflow cat and muffler.
  2. I did some looking around and decided on the flowmaster muffler to go with the flowmaster Cat. According to flowmaster, their product seems to be a straight pipe design with some kind of sound deadening insulation wrapped around the preforated pipe. This provides much better exhaust flow while giving my ride a nice deep exhaust tone. I'm going to try to get some before and after recordings to see if their statements are accurate. cheers and thanks for the advice
  3. Delta 50 you say, I need to do a little looking around for that one- what kind of price is one looking to spend on one of these?
  4. I'm finally getting around to upgrading my exhaust system to new manifolds and a magnaflow direct bolt-on cat. Which brings me to the muffler- A local shop has flowmaster 40 series mufflers on sale till the end of the month for $70.00. I was hoping they might have the 50 series in stock at the same price, but nope. I know that flowmaster makes a good muffler and my question is has anyone here installed one of these and regretted it due to the louder exhaust note? I'm not opposed to getting a nicer sound out of my old rig, but I don't want my rig to be obnoxious. Any of you folks found a better muffler around the same price?
  5. Hey just think of yourself as you doing your part to do some major recycling.
  6. I just got my rig back from a control arm bushing, ball joint, and alignment job and I gotta say my old rig is feeling alot more stable when running down the highway, also got rid of the most annoying sqeek at low speeds.
  7. I recently had my manifold replaced as well, and like you I'm seeing a reasonable improvement. I hope that with a new high-flow cat back exhaust system, I'll be able to really notice some improvement. 154k on stock exhaust probably not getting all 150 ponies working for me now.
  8. Thanks for the info and the audio demo. Your rig sounds great- I think I'll stick to piecing together my new exhaust with 2.25" piping as I can't aford to give up what little torque I've got now.
  9. I live around seattle too, but I try not to worry about the big one. Zombies cruising around looking for some scrumtious brain eatings, I can deal with. The ground/roads ripping apart while Mt Rainier is blowing it's top is something that will deal with all of us when the time comes.
  10. Is your 40 series pretty mellow sounding when you're not hammering the throttle? By the way your Pathfinder looks badass.
  11. I'd ditch the shotgun for a .50 caliber Barret semi auto zombie disintegrator and a lawn chair with built-in cooler for my beer.
  12. Anybody out there been able to find a reasonably priced complete stainless steel high flow cat-back exhaust system. I've looked at alot of the aftermarket companies like Summit, but it seems as though I'll just have to piece my system together. If I go this route, will 2.5" piping kill my low end torque? I'm thinking magnaflow high flow cat pn#22760 to a flowmaster 50 series muffler will be the way to go.
  13. I am on the same quest to get more nuts out of my almost 20 year old rust wagon. If I had an idea about how much money I was gonna dump into my money-pit-finder, I would have bought a newer 2001+ pathfinder with 240 HP. Doh!
  14. I just had my new manifold installed and man, what a difference that makes. For some reason my rig had a problem when accelerating from 25-35 mph. It would shudder and just basically have a hard time. Now after the repair it seems to be performing better, I hope that freeing up the rest of the exhaust with a high flow cat back system will improve performance as well.
  15. I hear what you're saying. I pulled the tire carrier, roof rack, and spoiler (dirt deflector) off and am in the process of tuning this old beast up. Maybe I'll take Westslope's advice and remove the roof and while I'm at it I'll replace all the bodywork with carbon fiber.
