fixed the needle portion but still cant get dash lights??? dont know where the meter fuse is to check... cant figure it out...
-
ok the speedo is now fixed.. thanks for the help guys.. but i still cant figure out the lighting. there isnt a fuse in the cab fuse box that says meter or gauges. i looked under the hood and by the battery its just relays for fuel pump and stuff.. where the heck is the fuse darnitt.. haha.
-
where might the fuse for the gauges be.. i looked in the can but no go... im going to try and fix it tonight. dont know how it will go.. but we'll see haha..the cable is only a $100 fix at nissan so if it pisses me off ill just go there... but still need the lights fixed.
-
Hey guys.. first off both problem are on my 1987 pathfinder 4x4 manual #1, my speedo wont work due to the needle that goes in to the back of the gauges is broke. i have a parts automatic nissan. my other is a 4x4. first off how easy is it to do the speedo cable myself?? and how do i do it. i've been looking everywhere for a post with it but nothing.. #2 the only gauges im getting is volt meter and the gauge for fuel that says 0 - 1/4 tank.. the actual gas gauge wont work. none of the other lights including my night lights will work. but the tach does. can anyone help me. and yes.. the dimmer switch is turned up all the way...
-
doesnt seem like thats the problem.. anything else.. like i said when the vehicle is warm it drives and runs like a champ.. but you have to keep it going or it will stall when its cold.
-
no answer guys?? when vehicle is warm it runs like a jem...
-
no i didnt mess with anything.. where would the idle adjustment be?
-
Hey guys... well i fixed my pathy with the running problem.. was the distributor and sensors for the intake... but yeah now when its cold.. it will stay idling for a couple seconds then drop and stall. i have to hold my foot on the pedal to warm it up for like 5 - 10 mins befors it will idle fine.. once warmed up it idles great.. and as well when im driving and push the clutch in the idle drops like a rock and dies. then i have to restart. i constantly find myself reving in between downshifts to keep it running.. what could the prob be.. i have another parts truck so im good to go for parts just dont knwo what this prob could be... thanks guys..

i picked up the whole unit for $300 but has flaws... its a salgage unit because of hail damage like i said.. but i used various interior parts and just the dizzy out of it.. other then that its fine... so if anyone needs part i got a tons of em... located in canada though...
-
DING DING DING DING!!!!! haha... we have a winner... Turns out that new pathy that i bought saved my truck... i changed the sensors in the tbi..and noticed the dizzy was loose and wacked.. so redid the timing and new dizzy and bang... it runs.. still has a slight idle stumble but its just when its cold.. but at least it runs like a champ now.... THANKS A TON GUYS!!!!! Another pathy lives...
-
OK good news folks.. haha.. went by a local salvage yard and there behold was a full together pathy that ran.. 87 grey automatic..... fricken bonus.. haha.. bought the whole thing.. it runs fin.. was in a very minor front end collision and was wrote off due to a hail storm... haha.. i cant see the hail but wtf... anyway.. now its like a gold mine.. first off is to change the dizzy... yay... anyway.. its has auto and mine is manual.. how hard is the swap? i kinda like the auto.. but manual for 4x4 anf trails.. hmmmmm.... haha.. options galore...

ok i got the new tb with all the sensors.. i kept the same injectors but switched all the other sensors... well except the maf because the tb had screws that were put in with locktite for the maf??? wtf???? haha./. anyway.. it seemed to run a little better but not 100%... so i took my dizzy cap off to change the rotor and noticed when i tryed to pry it off that it would spin anfter a bit of pressure.. im guessing something is broke inside.. so i took out the dizzy and turned it with my hand and the shaft inside feels like it slips... looks like i might need a new one. haha.. i think im just gonna hand it off to a mechanic and get him to just fix it... this is really starting to piss me off..
-
well i purchased a whole tbi... hope thats the problem.. it comes with all the sensors and everything... so should be alright.. hopefully it will make it run like a champ again..
-
will an 88 tbi work with the vg30i engine?
-
i have a 87 v6 not a 4cyl.... i dont think either of those will work...
-
yeah i've tried looking around... the harness with the ficd and the idle up solenoid come with the throttlebody... i cant find one anywhere.. even tried locating... nothing..
-
yeah its unplugged and getting really hot.. like so hot you cant touch it... i thought this was weird because its not in the tb... what do i do to fix this? where can i get one of these from?
-
nvermind looks to me like the first one is the Fast idle control device (FICD) and the second is the Idle Up Solenoid Device!! would either one of these be my problem? how would i test them? as well the Idle up solenoid valve is getting extremly hot.. even when not in the throttlbody?? anyone know if thas normal??

OK GUYS NEED SOMETHING ANSWERED?? On the left side for the throttlebody there is 2 sensor looking things.. on mine one has blue plastic tubing around it.. they both go into the throttle body.. they are on a wire harness that also connects with the injectors... what are these 2 sensors?? Im asking this because when i take the one with the blue plastic off it seems to run a bit longer... just wondering if those could be my problem?? thanks guys... ALSO DOES ANYONE HAVE PARTS FOR A 87 NISSAN PATHFINDER????? I may need this paeice of the wire harness??
-
but that wouldnt cause my roblem though would it?? and as well i put in an aftermarket stereo could that have anything to do with it.. i doubt it since the problem gradually got worse??
-
ok guys.. could it possibly be my alternator.??? when the enigne is off the ohm meter reads 10volts connected to the battery.. but when i start it up and keep it going by manually reving the engine it only come up to 13.2? just wondering if thats normal? or how i can test the alternator itself.. or if thats even worth looking at??? thanks

Ok guys.. i found my computer.. turns out the post office has had it since the 18th er something.. anyway.. its back.. put it in... The TPS seems to be fine.. i used an ohm meter and the digits went up as the throttle went up.. so it should be all good that way.. i know the timing is off but i dont think thats the whole deal..
-
