  1. how the heck dose the cluster come out? I see 2 screws at the top and thats it!

94 and 95 have an electronic speedo/tach cluster and some have problems. First, remove the entire cluster (not too hard) and unplug the connectors. Tighten the brass screws in the back (ground points), check the connection points, reinstall and rest.

When I was combining 2 clusters to get 1 fully working unit, a tach that hadn't worked for 3 years came back to live in my parts truck...

  2. I have a 95 pathfinder, And the tachometer will stay at 0 untill i start the car and than it jumps to 3k rpm and stays there. I can drive the car just fine, and it can hear it idel at 900rpms, I can even rev the motor and the tac dosnt change. Has anyone had this problem?

  3. well I haven't seen R2-D2 sence the last Star Wars movie "The Clone Wars" 2008 not sure whats hes been up to. But if you look under you car and happen to see some weird stuff hanging down "you may have just ran over R2-D2". If thats the case you will need to pickup the following manual and reasemble him.

  4. thankfully I don't live in callifornia, emissions must suck. Anyways ya my tailpipe is black on the inside. When I fist start the car apx 2-3 min afterwords the car blows white smoke and than when it worms up it stops. Is this normal?

What I learned when I was reading up on what I could use in California (from an independent exhaust site, not pathfinder specific) was that the precats purpose is to heat up quickly from a cold start, reaching the required temperature for the catalytic reastion faster than the full sized cat. They also said something about it helping maintain the exhaust temperature when warm, but I didn't really understand that part.

In effect, it is simply a smog cat for warmup and should not (significantly) effect emmisions when the engine is warm.

  5. yep, this thing is super slugish (if thats a word) I nearly didnt make it up a few hills today i had to floor it and do 30mph the hole way :-( and transmisson shifted fine. The engine rev's ok in N. Its gota be the cat I cant think of anything else i havent already replaced. I just can't deside if i wanta go with a high flow or a straight pipe. How big of a differance are we talking about high flow vs a open straight pipe power wise.

  6. I think my Catalytic Converter maybe cloged up. How common is this on high milage pathfinders 90-95?

I was going to just hollow it out, however dose anyone make a replacement pipe to just reaplce it straight thew? Or my other option is to go to a high flow cat. Has anyone done this? Will it throw a check engine light if i do this?

I have come to this conclution after doing a complete tuneup, spark plugs, plug wires, cap n rotor, fuel filter, timing belt, oil change. etc still has lack of power.

  7. I have a 94 pathfinder vg30 v6 with an automatic. I seem to have a large lack of power going up hills and from a complete stop. Just wonder what would cause this. My transmission seems to shift just fine no hard shifting or anything.

Is there a transmission filter inside the tranny pan or something that gets cloged over time. My car has well over 200k miles on it.

  8. anyone have an extra good working ecu for a 1994-1995 Pfinder with an auto tranny if it makes any differance, that they wanta to sell.

Whats weird is i have replaced the engine long block and still pull the same codes. From looking at the codes if an new ecu dosnt do it im thinking maybe o2 sensor because they seem to be air/fuel related? If the 02 sensors goes out of these what happends syntoms wise, because everything on the list other than ecu and 02 engine wirin side where replaced.

  9. Start from repairing fault harness under the hood, from engine to ECU. When all harness problems will be resolved, clear codes, run engine, test-drive and read codes again.

All codes and repair procedures are well described into 1994 FSM, section EF&EC.

1994 Pathfinder ECU can't show Code 22 (fuel pump is not a self-diagnostic item on this model). Me think, this is your mistake with counting LED flashes.

hmmm, You say repairing fault harness under the hood? please explane? The harness seems to be fine. The car starts every time. Should i go get another harness from a junkyard car?

  10. I have a 1994 nissan pathfinder, Just finished installing a new engine and I seem to be pulling the same codes. I have cleared them and they have returned 3x's.

    code's

    45 Injector Leak.

12 Air Flow Meter/Mass Air Flow Sensor, switch it out I have tryed 3 differnet ones

34 Knock Sensor--brand new just replaced it

22 Fuel Pump--Seems to be pumping ok

    51 Injector Circuit no idea

    23 Idle Switch--no idea??

I think this is the cause of my high idle. Anyways no idea where to start. Dose anyone have any idea's

    :crossedwires:

  11. I have a 1994 pathfinder,

It has keyless entery I have programed the key-fob as detailed on the link below. All the beeps work great the car reconizes the button just fine.

    http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19755

Problem is after i have programed the key and the car has accepted the key i turn the ignition switch off, and the key-fob will not lock or unlock anything. Any help would be great.

  12. I just went out and switched on the heater headlights and etc. It dosnt make the idle go down at all. However when i put it into drive it idles about 900 rpm's. I have also tryed adjusting the tps sensor. The tps sensor dosnt seem to make any differance in idle. Is there a process for checking the tps?

  13. I have a 1994 nissan pathfinder, I just finished installing a new engine. After 1st startup and worm-up it run it idle's at 1200rpm. After Checking the factory service manual it sais dissconnet a wiring harness and adjust idel speed with a screw near the filrewal. Its on page 26 of 292. Once i reconnect the wiring harness the idle goes back up. Has anyone had this happen or have any idea's. :scratchhead:

  14. hello,

So I have a 1994 pathfinder 4x4. I pulled compression and im showing 40 in cylinder 4 and 60 in cylinder 6. So I put some oil into the cylinders and it shot compressions up (this tells me its rings). So I am about to remove my engine and rebiuld it at 217k miles. Unless i can find a full longblock or shortblock. The cylinders look really washed down (lack of cross hatching).

However looks like i maybe going the rebiuld route. Dose anyone make aftermarket pistons? or longer rods? or anything cool for the bottem end? :deadhorse:
