  1. Hey SW, Well I have been talking to a few mechanic friends and out of every one I have spoken to it has been an unanimous verdict for the TD42 GU Patrol. One of them is even the head mechanic at our local Toyota dealership. He didn’t have much to say about the 100 series Landcruiser other than they are expensive to maintain and are not that reliable. Cheers, Fantasy. Ps: According to everyone the 2003 GU is the one to get. Why???
  2. That’s weird hey because out of all the Patrol’s I have been looking at the TD42 models have been cheaper. What goes wrong with the ZD’s??? My grand parents have a ZD Patrol and they have driven around Australia 3 times now and the only thing that has crapped it self is the auto box. What ever car I get I will be looking for a manual. The TD42 model has 114kw and the ZD30 model has 116kw. But the big thing is torque and I do not have any torque fingers. The Big 1HD Landcruiser has electronic direct injection and 151kw. The other problem I have chousing a new truck is I want to put some decent sized rubber underneath it. I already have a set of 38.5” tall x 16” wide MT baja claws. As you can probably tell I am still very much undersided. Cheers, Fantasy.
  3. Time for the Terrano/Pathfinder to go. Well after jacking the old girl up 2” putting 31” mud’s on and replacing just about every thing in the suspension. Plus a new turbo and manifold, I took a couple of friends over to Fraser Island and camped for a few days. I put the Terrano to the test on many different tracks but the only time she was really any good was on the hard sand on the beach. She is still under powered and does not have enough suspension travel. I’m not here to debate with people that are happy with there Pathfinder/Terrano that it can be a good 4wd. For me it has got to the point where it feels like I’m flogging a dead horse. The only way I believe the Terrano is ever going to have enough power and stay diesel is to do a complete engine conversion to a ZD out of a Patrol. I am not prepared to do that. By the time I get the engine, box and ecu in and working I could sold the 1994 Terrano and bought a 2000 model Patrol for the same money. Witch is most likely what I am going to do. I am tossing up between 2000 model Patrol with the ZD 4cyl 3L turbo diesel, 2000 model Patrol with the TD 6cyl 4.2L turbo diesel and a 2000 model Toyota Landcruiser with the 1HD 4.2L turbo diesel. The Toyota Landcruiser is a bit more expensive than the others but is it that much of a better truck? And witch one of the Patrol's is better and why? Cheers, Fantasy.
  4. The ZD’s have two different models of the Variable vane turbocharger. One has step in the shaft and a smaller compressor wheel. This turbo has a real problem with bending turbine shafts. The other turbo has a slightly bigger compressor wheel and a solid turbine shaft (ie; no step). My turbo came off a ZD that had bent the shaft so I rebuilt it with the bigger comp wheel and solid shaft. Cheers, Fantasy.
  5. I have an auto 1994 model Nissan Terrano. (Same as Pathfinder but with a TD27T engine). • With the 4” suspension kits that every one seams to be using do they give you more suspension travel? And if they do, how much more travel do they give you? • My car is a 4 door with an auto gear box. What am I going to need to change/modify to fit a 2” to 3” body lift kit?
  6. Hey all. Thank you all for the comments. It’s been a while but I am back. Since the last time I posted I have decided to keep the car. I have made and fitted a new stainless steel exhaust manifold, new turbo and some new pipes. I made some 45mm billet spring spaces for the rear and wound the front torsion bars up to match the rear. I’ll get some new pic’s up soon. This time I used a variable vane turbo of the new Nissan Patrol. Cheers, Fantasy.
  7. Fuel has been turned up aswell. Thats more of a worry but I have never had any probs
  8. If anyone wants to buy the whole set up it’s for sale. I’m putting a Turbo VH45 in it. Unless I sell the whole car.. I want $16000 for the whole car. It also has custom molded, carpeted fiberglass and alum checker plate floor mats. They look mad and protect all the carpet in the front and back foot space. They slot out so can be wash easily. They are trimmed in marine carpet so safe to be washed. Cost me $1500 to have made.
  9. I'm on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Beautiful one day perfect the next.
  10. It cost my time. I did it all myself. From the fabrication to the polishing and bolting it all together.
  11. Thanks for the Complements guy's
  12. LOL. Roo bars. You guys must have the biggest misconception about Australia. Yeah Roo’s are hopping around every ware. Actually! They deliver the mail, that’s the real reason they have the pouch, to put the letters in. That was a bit of sarcasm. Roo’s aren’t hopping around every ware. In fact I can’t remember the last time I sore one that wasn’t in a Zoo. Maybe if you go to the out back you may see them. But that’s not just a round the corner. Its 1000’s of miles from any major cities. Anyways my Terrano is a Jap import. It came from Japan with the Bull Bar already on it. They must have Kangaroo’s every where as well. LOL.
  13. To the people asking what the car sounds like, it is very quite. The polished Turbosmart stainless steel muffler on the back isn’t just for show. It’s a very expensive muffler designed for max flow and to get rid of noise at the same time. The end result is the exhaust noise is no louder than the standard exhaust, just with a deeper note. I am not in to riced up cars with neon’s and crap. I’m into fast cars. Here is some links to few other cars I have built. http://www.turbocreations.com/fj20/jasons1200ute/ http://www.turbocreations.com/fj20/guysdr30/ http://www.turbocreations.com/fj20/yellowfever/
  14. Thats not just the exhaust tip. Tis the size of the whole exhaust. It is there for a Purposes.
