I drive a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder equipped with a manual transmission, which is lots of fun. And ever since driving a 5-speed Saturn with poor brakes, I got into the habit of using engine braking very liberally and frequently when coming to stops, partially because: A: it's fun B: it bothers my girlfriend C: it saves wear and tear on the more frequently replaced brake pads. Not that I ever get anywhere near approaching the redline, or even above 3500 RPM, but, is there a potential problem with subjecting the engine to additional compression like this? Will it affect gas mileage? Thanks, Kevin

I noticed at a traffic light the other day that my Pathfinder still has a plastic cutout in the dash underneath the steering wheel for the Japanese-style pull n' turn parking brake that I've seen on a few Tacomas. In the interest of making a new, roomier, cupholder-equipped center console for my 1995 2WD manual Pathy, is there any way I can find the parts to move the emergency brake handle to this location? Has anybody else done this? Or, if not here, then maybe the floor, like most trucks? kevin

I drive a '95 Pathfinder 5sp 2WD with 115,000 miles and the broken exhaust manifolds. At low speeds the ticking is highly noticeable, but driveability is still fine. I'm wondering how concerned I should be with this. How heavily will these broken manifolds affect inspection (Texas), engine wear, gas mileage, etc.? I'm in college and I can't devote any money towards the fix unless it quickly gains some urgency. Also, just out of interest, if these manifolds aren't affecting much at all, how long have many of you had them broken? thanks, kevin

I have a white '95 XE 2WD with all black trim pieces. Ever since I got it, I thought it had a nice police-style kind of image, and advice from a friend left me wondering how neat it might be to have two police spotlights installed, one on each A-Pillar. Has anybody out there performed this install? Any tips or advice? I think it would be an entertaining first modification to my Pathfinder. Kevin
