Yeah im trying to do jus that lookin in areas with little precip or salt i did see an advertisement saying tht one was in Brazil it was a foriegn ministry car with 2500 miles kept garaged we all know or should know it probably would never show up unless i went there to either drive it back lol...(cood be serious cool vacay i always wanted to see the ruis of inca maya and aztecs) or ride with it on a boat back...well aback to reality ill never see tht truck besides the picture (it was gorgeous)they use to lure either money or maybe you for ransome hehe my adventure days are bout over but if brazil would be ok with lettin me take the wifes m4 i got her and my 45 and maybe a cool fedora and a bullwhip then i would seriously think about drivin it back past all the rebels and drugrunners and all that.. he he he ....worst part would probly be our border nowadays ...seems like i wouldent drive around down there at night any more...... theres killin by the handfull everynight over who owns the drug routes... think ill just keep on fishin and find one up here But could u imagine tht truck!!!!!! brand spankin new lol what a cool ride home tht would be if i wasent kidnapped and by the time anything major ever went wrong with it we'd have hovercraft upgrades by then....my insurance said its an antique lmao suits me fine ....ive rescued alot of my buddies who dint like my "jappy" ol "rice burner" he he... least mine tells me whats wrong with it...how much stuff isnt self testing??
  2. well beep beeepy beep 30 secs it ran today and then it acted like it was missing for a few seconds then died im gonna take the hatch off in the back im guessing thats where the problem is gonna be i jus ordered the new sending assy interesting sidenote/backstory about 2 years ago this happened too...my wife got in it maybe drove it to work even...parked it next to the maple tree i went ou to get in it andit just cranked over.....i tested all the same things minus the vacuum press reg, and tested it to the back harness that the sending unit goes to. thats when somebody told me about tht hatch(I LOVE tht hatch) i popped the hatch and the power wire was pulled away from the pump ...now we all know there aint enough tension in jus that one wire....maybe something running for its life jumped up in tween the tank and the body but i couldent get my hand there...without the hatch.....it was corroded and i cleaned and soldered it back heavily..im betting its another wire or a 17 yr old pump, possibly the same wire loosened with ice freezing under the solder, we'll hope for just that. oh yeah once again she parked it there......lol....no probs since but its always in the back of my mind i might get to use my new fancy batt power solder gun out in the wilds and get another tesstament for my pathy gonna test the old one now and see if i can fix it again till i get this new one thanks fer so far
  3. i might also add my starter was bad because it would slightly short out inside and cause the relay to not work i guess....i hope it works like it did for me if you have tht same relay there
  4. bow tied may have put this one over the wall..... i have a printer and desktop now i used to jus look at the fsms on my laptop all the time gave me a headache(i hate technology ....really ...well a little) wow it real real cool to print off pages and have them in my hand out in the frozenness to look at i got alot colder not making those trips inthough i even felt like scouring through more of the fsm and saw the vac diag and long 2 short the hose was black dust on my hand ....new hose and bam...fired right up .......so tax money is here in a week so im ordering a pump and sending assy for 40 from a dry non snowy yard ...im not sure tht was the whole fix..my sending is corroded on top anyhow ill wait to move in to our new house this week...(hopefully)and i have a garage YAY well one here anyhew the one in MT aint doin me much good here more news to follow....beep... beep beep.. beep.......(hope not)
  5. how u explained that was damn exactly how mine went dont even ask me hoe i found it before probly precise or 88 or one of the guys for sure when i changed tht relay it was fine for a year the next time it did it i bought a new starter with a ltw....hell i even forgot to take out the one i put in i marked the old one and put it in the relay box.....he he my multi meter says all relays dont always need the same exact voltage to operate but starter drains too much when bad and viola 15 times u hit the key bam it starts ....next time forget about it till next day...bam starts first time..... u would think that might discourage a fella.... naw...i love my baby and any funny quirks tht come along that may have me investing more time on the net and such tht i cuda got a degree lol
  6. well i dint mean to quote that but to answer a little to all the posts like on the vg30 alot is almost identical till like 96 and then its like where did the ecm go under the passenger seat??? I was jus trying to use the knowledge of the Collective (sounds kinda like the borg or something lol) or where can i find out the years compatable in eng and trans I have a good friend i met at a graveyard lol since there are no nissan lots any where near me when the parts stores can't get it i usually head for the scrapyard hell the guy could show up unannounced for christmas dinner far as im concerned hehe

Ok the body style change in 99 was good but i kinda meant as far as the engine goes and what years were the engines the same in r 50's I say this cause i got a pretty tight grip on my model years my pathy is set up for outlasting the end of the world lol....I trust her to take me and get me home and she does I have a certain amount of parts i keep in truck basically all the belts coolin hoses 20 diff relays ect ect so i wanna also know which year is king survivor so to speak....hell I might get a 50 ya never know by the way thanx for all the input so far
  8. what i mean is would a 2004 FSM cover all models and years down to 96??? like the 89-95 i use a 94 FSM i I am not at all familiar with 96 and up
  9. he he yep u have to right clic and save as on each one ........when u have them all in one folder then u can click on the chap named FWD and it will show an interactive cover page with each chap on it.....
  10. yeah i guess mine might be diff than a 90 but if you want a copy of the 94 and i can somehow send it to you then i will.....i use the hello out of it lol ps one of those relays above the fuse block by your knee operates the back hatch window opener lol i think its the middle one(blue) JFYI
  11. one more thing ther are 2-3 relays to do with the ignition above the fuse box under the steering wheel,quick checks are always the thing to do before pulling parts look on page 75 in the EL section of yer FSM
  12. yay.... well the blue one was the one tht has to do with starter, not always the prob but hey it could be....in mine it worked till i replaced my starter a year later,my starter was oem so it was bound to go check it with yer FSM to be sure on yer truck mine is 94

  14. thanks so much,i have the gas model but that is the exact prob i have started having, gonna have to find out what causes it ....hell i talked to quite a few people about it and they all said the same kinda stuff "don't u mean OD?? blah blah nobody ever heard of a lock up torque conv ....lol but i could feel it and now i miss all the awesome mileage and i take so many fish trips that i can see the diff right away without it ,im gonna try it out as soon as i fix up my fuel pump and shes runnin long nuff to drive lol thanks P1

There is a relay i think it's a blue, right next to windshield fluid that can cause intermittant starter probs i had to replace mine and shes fine now I went to a local scrapyard and gleaned alot of those 20-30-40 dollar relays for 25- 50 cents apiece, they dont take alot of space i have them in a kids shoe box in the back at all times....... if your starter is starting to wear it might jus throw the relay out of whack i guess.....
  16. i noticed my lockout has been kicking off its killin my milage i was gettin 23, now maybe 19 - 20 mpg when its not engauged what controls it and does it have a sensor or relay with it?????
  17. i had my pathy start to run in safe mode i ran the code then went to radio shack and bought the proper meg ohm resistor and bridged it for about 3.00 and an hour tops i fixed mine i took an hour because i had to keep looking at the factory service manuals and checking with my ohms meter to make sure i was splicing into the right ones......that was fine for me as i dont need a knock sensor, i can hear my engine if it knocks or bumps and i always use preim gas anyway....... yet i havent had either the cash to let nissan do it( i really dont want to tear the top down by myself let them do it and if things break its on them) or the time to do it my self yet. thts probly a main reason it got sold when they thought they needed to put probably at least a grand into it ,but i don't have any idea what it might cost email me if you still need help i think i still got all the old pics and tech data ps I heard if the knock sensor starts to work again it will go into safe mode and you would need to remove the resistor u put in??? seems like once its bridged it would be fine no matter......mine has never had a problem since i put the resistor in mine....at least not a prob related to tht
  18. can i still test to make sure its getting current to the pump after it dies?? even though it wont be running? or could some relay or sensor be not working right and it quits telling the pump to continue pumping????? ok so im headed back to the fsm for some numbers for testing the pump if i can find them i thought there was a relay near my wiper fluid box?? so i guess that relay i was thinking of was for the starter....i know there was a relay in there for the pump i don't know where it's at staring at my fsm's is making my head hurt usually i find what im looking for quick,so to make it worse i'm gonna see if i can trace one down in the fsm wiring diags
  19. when i start mine she ticks for a maybe 30 secs whenever shes cooled down, and only till the heat expands the gap lol...the prob is the y pipes are too far apart breaks the manifold stud bolts and lets a small amount of tick be heard i will eventually look into custom exaust as soon as the gasket goes... but if its not using oil and no leaks and it goes away with a little rising engine temp then prob the manifold ....replace it when u can afford it mines been doing it since i fixed the same prob on other side like 2 yrs ago

Also I should add that the fuel filter and line is clear......ill try to dig through my FSM's and see if i can come up with all the voltage and ohmage readings and take one of the most handy tools that my pathy gets all the time ......drumroll......the fluke 87 multimeter!!! lol at least pathys have one of the most owner freindly engineered vehicles ever made between the box under the seat and the FSM ....the best vehicle i have ever owned hands down ....she refuses to strand me my wife went home over the holidays and had her dodge strand her in the middle of the interstate xmas eve, hence the 5-6 hundred mile rescue journey to go get her and the kids my wife never told "her"( my pathy) even thanks....i went fishing no prob hit some brownies through the ice , came home and the wife moved it next day to put our other dependable car in the pathy's rightful place .....it's a mazda...sorta ..( her dodge threw timing bent valves so I sent it where it belongs ...the junkyard) and hasent run since for more than a few secs...I just think if she would quit talking about the dodge(rip lol) and pet up the ol pathy a little more like me this wouldent happen (an apologie would probably work best) .....the pathy hasent liked her since i let her drive on vacation and she hit a dip hard fully loaded... or maybe they could be jealous of one another wanting my affections .....i could say the solution would probably not ever let her ride in it again.....in case she reads this all i will say is i will always have my path she loves ME lmao.... we romp and fish climb and mud....nothing stands in our way...not knock sensors, or alternators or starters actually those are the only real probs i ever had that might have come close to stranding us except ...oooh yeah i tuned her up right when i bought her.... I cleaned up the dist cap and loosened the screw on the rotor and must not have tighened it back, well goin down the road well a major hill anyway she smacked and then sputtered to the bottom and i shut her down ....she only sputtered cause the screw was jumpin round in side the cap shortin out lol, it broke the back off the plastic rotor...horrified i removed the plastic and put her back together....she drove me home and held in till i got new stuff.... i only put all this in cause i hope there is a lesson to be learned my love affair with my pathy will last forever........ never let anyone unfriendly drive or even sit in her she is the one u can trust... with my assortment of scavenged relays new belts, hoses a multimeter and tool box and bag we are unstoppable she is a truly dependable truck the likes of which i don't believe has been seen before or since and used to be a old school full size driver thats to all my friends here jus in case u haven't been showing yer special one the love( imean your pathy's not your wives lol but kiss the wife jus the same) and we thank u guys for all the help and for being there when some fixin needs done thats how much i love her i came in for advice and had to tell the world just how i feel ..............so should we all....   21. it starts then runs fine for ten secs then maybe runs rough then dies like the fuel line or filter is clogged or line was pinched shut, anyone run into this?? it did die once at the gas station after i started it and popped the hood to check the trans fluid, then drove 5-6 hundred miles, got home went fishing next day ran fine parked it and here we are ecm gives 55 all clear.....was gonna clean MAF and check the IACV but wasent clear on checking it or cleaning it so any help would be greatly appreciated is there anything to do with the fuel pumps that would let it run for a few then kill the pump???
