Thanks for the info.... i'm glad i can do it, i will just need a wheel alinement hey? whats the possibility of sqeezing 31 inch tyres on after the small 35mm increace, if i keep the stock width. i would like to buy a set of weekend mud terrain tyres and rims so i can swap em for trips away. What size tyres are you running?

Hello I own a 2001 st pathfinder with bfg at's, There only 29inch stock size tyres. The delema i have is on the last trip i made into the Victorian high country (Australia, melbourne) i think i got a bit to confident with my stock setup and found myself going down hills that made me want to change my underpants, at one stage i'm sure i had one rear wheel off the ground about 1/2 a foot, anywayz ok ok. the 4x4 handled it well but because the front being so engine heavy i found i was bottoming out and i was collecting planetarium size rocks as i crawled down the hill. I have thought about what i want to get out of my ride and at the start i was going to lift it as much as possible but now i think i would like a nice camping/tourer that will still handle some heavy exploring. I recently emailed 4x4parts.com about importing the 2 inch Deluxe AC lift kit you guys in America seem to like, warn manual hubs, 2 degree camber kit, because here in aus theres no full off the shelf 2 inch lift kit. The delivery cost to Melbourne AUS was going to be an extra $450 AUS dollars ontop of the aprox $1600 for the 2 inch kit and extra gear. I dont think i will go down that path for now. So if, FOR NOW <---- Before my easter trip i wanted to get toughdog 35mm lifted springs wich i can get locally and try to use the stock black nissan pea shooter shocks for my trip, being a higher spring rate and lifting the 4x4 at least 1 inch or 35mm i hoped it would help a little with the sharp bottoming out, do you think this combo is do-able and ok to use for now because i aint rolling in it atm, once i get back i will match the spings with a full 45mm big bore strut and shock set. Also would i need the camber pin set?, will the stock adjusters pull the camber in or out enough? with only 35mm lift. Thanks heaps for your help, if it cant be done i will settle for lesser tracks for a bit I will try to post some pics of latest trips if i have some and if me being a noob can get it to work I think this mud was developed by the Australian government to stop anyone with AT's thinking there top sh#t. Hey all Just a shout out from Australia and a quick ask. I have my stock 2001 st r50 pathfinder now but i live in Australia, Australia being on another planet we have no stockists of after market gear to suit them. i have rang around all the big brands ARB TJM etc etc and all i'm looking for atm is a safari style rack like you guys in America seem to have, they look awesome. The only thing i could come up with is using crappy thule family racks and bolting (some how) a basket on to it. Garvin have the one i like but its only for a 96 with what looks like different raised plastic rails, mine are just recessed chrome ones. The lack of accessories is ok i love the r50 and i dont mind hunting down or importing things, it would be the best help if NPORA people from America could give us some details of larger after market parts dealers so us in Australia can find our gear and import gear a little bit better and help our chances of making our r50's look as good as yours. This would not be a plug on brands just a point in the right direction.

Hey Aussie pathy owners Is it just me being a noob or do most of the cool bolt on parts for r50's come from the states? i have looked on many AUS sites and bought 4x4 action to get ad's and websites but everyone seems to list only a tiny amount of upgrade gear and bolt on stuff for my 2001 st. What i really want is for now to make it into a nice looking tourer. I was trying to find an AUS stockist for the little square safari racks these American guys have, But to fit my R50 rails <------ no luck yet. Anyone know a really good AUS stockist that could link me to the states so i have a bit more security when importing?

i'm new to the 4x4 stage i just bought my 2001 r50 but from looking back it seems NISSAN did not intend any of there rigs to be chopped up and modded to the level these are at, SO in saying that why are the older ones better? because back in the days they had limited mods too until they became mainstream items that people added custom items to. The r50 has less mods than a old pathfinder hence the years, once people can buy a 2000+ pathfinder for dirt cheap just watch, 4inch lift 35+ tyres will become a catalogue mainstream 4x4 item. I would say 50% of r50 owners still think of an r50 model as a tourer/family adventure 4x4, As was the old model when it first hit the streets. basically if it's out there people will modify it, older age middle age new age, i got my r50 for 11 thousand AUS , when it was new closer to 45 thousand aus. My guess is that once the older 80's pathfinders get beaten up and modded so much they become a money pit/phase out, people will find away, that's if they still want to be pathfinder owners. Someone i know worked for Nissan and said, the new pathfinder just saved Nissan from a world of pain, because of the record sales, i will cop 1 dud model in the chain if they come back stronger for it, FINGERS CROSSED. Hello all i was amazed to find this site, i just bought a 2001 st pathfinder, well about 1-1/2 months ago. It had stock road rubber on it so the first thing was to get something a bit better i thought. I wanted to go and play the very first weekend i got it but no one would fit the BFG AT's i wanted at such late notice, i certainly was not going out to yarra ranges with road tyres in the wet, i eventually found a place but they said none was in stock, i said listen, i will pay a courier to get tyres from one of there other stores, and bring them to your tyre joint. So thats how much i wanted to play in this new 4x4 of mine, by the way its my first 4x4 and i already want to bolt more gear on... I hope to bring something to this forum even though i got a stock r50 (for now). Cheers REENMAN
