I have just bought a 1994 Terrano R3M turbo diesel automatic - they were grey imports in Australia. Needs a bit of work - especially front suspension/steering and the auto trans has lost reverse but that's OK - it was cheap!

  1. Many thanks, Phillipe. They are now out! Took me a while to get a good view of those nuts - not easy to see in that tight, dark space. I thought the 3 nuts (they are 8mm on mine) were something else at first. Again, thank you, Rob.
  2. Can someone help me please... How do you remove the tail; lights from a WD 21? I think the lens has to be removed to get to the bolts that hold it in. If this is so, how do you get the lens off without cracking it? Any assistance will be most appreciated. Thank you, Rob.
  3. Thanks for your help Slartibartfast and Terranovation. Still not sure what I'll do. I undid the four bolts holding the whole thing in the housing using a bent phillips head screwdriver to get in behind the glass, so it's now loose in the housing I now realise that the glass is also slightly different between models - and somewhat smaller on the '94. Maybe I'll just put up with it as is: it swings in and out but not up and down. Still curious about where to start prising to remove the glass. 'So you'll have to remove the glass. Just use a flat screwdriver and take care'. As easy as that sounds? - have just tried with 3 small screwdrivers and cracked the glass: the plastic that holds the glass is quite hard and almost impossible to prise away at the corners. Nothing lost to wreck the glass completely when I get back to it tomorrw!
  4. Hi Can anyone help me? The driver side mirror on my '94 Terrano does not adjust properly, the one on my '91 spare parts Terrano is good. The housings are different but the mirror glass is the the same - and I assume the mechanics for the electrical adjustment inside the housing is the same. I would like to change over the inside bits form the 91 to the housing on the 94 but... how do I get inside that housing to get to anything? I have the main housing off the pivot for folding and I have removed a screw from underneath, about half way along the underside of the housing but nothing is coming loose. Can anyone help me with what to do next please? Most appreciated, cheers, Rob.
  5. Tanks fman, appreciate your help. Cheers, Rob.
  6. Forgive me if this is covered elsewhere but I have little time for research right now. The WD21 Terrano diesel was not sold in Australia by Nissan Australia but I have one of the 'grey import' ones and I am wondering if the auto trans filter kit for the RE4R01A is the same filter kit for the V6 Pathfinders that were sold here (WD21 and R50). Can someone enlighten me, please? - I need to order my filter kit very soon and not sure what model to order it for. Cheers.
  7. G'day Craig I'm probably buying a 1991 Turbo diesel auto for parts: I'm mainly after a good auto trans but this one is much lower mileage than my 1994 and expect to transplant the complete engine/trans/transfer case. Also wheels - I need a couple of good tyres to get the '94 roadworthy and registered. The '91 had a roadworthy certificate on it 5 months ago so there are probably some front end bits worth transferring over, too. Not sure yet whether to do a swap of parts and sell the '91 complete, sell parts separately or keep stuff for myself. I would almost certainly be selling the engine - it seems good to me but I'm not yet used to diesels and the various noises they make! It's done 314,000 kms.
  8. Can anyone help me? I can't find info on removing and replacing a TD27engine - turbo - and auto trans. I am looking at doing this in my 1994 Terrano R3M. The best I can find is warnings to be careful doing it but I would like detailed information please if anyone can help. Pictures are good, too. If anyone has already posted this on NPORA could I please be directed to it. Thanks
  9. Thanks for the welcome! I have just bought a 1994 R3M turbo diesel automatic. I live near Stawell in Victoria, Australia - 230km (about 140miles) West of Melbourne, the state capital. A bit of work to do on the Terrano (front end, mainly) - at least it was cheap - and rust free! (anyone know where there's a good auto trans for a diesel Terrano in Victoria?). Great interior condition, too. This is my introduction to diesel motoring - apart from a couple of trucks I had for business many decades ago. A bit of a change from my 44 year old Holden V8 ute which I hope will sell soon. I'm am oldie - in my 70s - but still like to go bush and enjoy a bit of four wheel driving. Been doing it most of my life! And there are some good tracks very close by in the Grampians mountains. Ellie and I have travelled a lot of Australia in numerous vehicles: our latest being a Delica (it's actually Ellie's) which we camp in. The Terrano is my toy! So now we are a two 4X4 family!
