Valve cover gasket

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm having a problem, so I was able to get my driver side valve cover off and replaced the gasket and grommets, but I seem to be having trouble getting it back on. I'm talking about the screw under the distributor cap? I really dont want to pull the distributor. Any suggestions?

Just unbolt the distributor and pull it up enough to get the bolt started. Remove the cap, mark the rotor position as well as distributor position, unbolt it and you should be able to pick it up about an inch or so. It should be enough to get the bolt back in. Dont sweat it, just be sure it makes it back into the same position..

There are two bolts in the cap itself and one bolt that retains the distributor on the drivers side cylinder head. Undo the two in the cap, there should be enough slack in the spark plug wires to just lay the cap on the upper intake plenum. Use a permanent marker, mark rotor position and distributor position at the base. Then proceed like I mentioned before.
