intake valve timing - solenoid

Today my check engine light came on and when i hooked my pathfinder up to my computer it was indicating the intake valve timing - solenoid was the issue. I really don't know a lot when it comes to engines and replacing parts. I have been lucky the past 3 years and only had to do oil changes every 3000k and breaks once. How do i replace this part and how much would this cost roughly?

If you take your time, you will be able to determine if your intake valve timing selenoid is bad (with the ohm resistance test) or if you have an electric short (with the voltage test)... have a look here with a the pages I took from the FSM :

Once you determine what is wrong, you will know what the next step is...Changing parts until the problem goes away is never a good solution...find the problem first..

Good luck.
