Mysterious Blinker Problems (and where exactly is the flasher?)

HI! I'm new to this site (as in today!) and I really need some help! I searched the topics and saw some similar problems not quite mine. I hope you don't mind if this is considered a repeat!

My blinkers went out a few months ago. Just suddenly one day I put on a turn signal and this loud buzzing came on and the brake light came on, but no turn signal. I couldn't afford the part and eventually the noise and light stopped coming on all together. So I went to NAPA the other day and bought the whole turn signal stick contraption and put it in myself, 2 plugs and that was it, easy right? And it worked. Until about 15 minutes down the road, when i went to use it and the buzzing started again!!!!! I am at a loss!

The fuse is fine. The headlights work fine. The hazards are fine.

Someone told me it could be the flasher but no one, including the manual, can tell me just where the dang thing is!!! I saw where some other posts describe where it is but I can't seem to find it.

Can anyone help?

the horrific buzzing sound youre referring to is the flasher its self. mine did the same thing, even after replacing the flasher it didnt do a thing. it wasnt until a few months later when i messed with the hazard light switch its self, that the buzzing stopped. I had to hard wire some connections inside the hazard light switch assembly to get the damn blinkers to work, but now i dont have hazards.

The blinker flasher is right next to the brake pedal, with the black-wrapped wire coming from it, hanging from a clip downwards. What I've found though, is if its intermittently buzzing, you've got a short in your electricals somewhere, so its not getting the constant power it needs to go click click.

EDIT: Also, if you have a u-haul trailer hitch accessory, check the very back left trim panel, and check inside the cubby to make sure all the wiring is secure. That also contributed to my issue, some shoddy wiring shorting stuff out. If you don't have one, then disregard this.

that's a pic that you posted of what it's supposed to look like? I took a look and mine isn't set up the same and that's not what the flasher they sold me at NAPA looks like. I'm gonna try to get my stepdad to look at it later see if he can tell. BUt I guess I may wind up taking it back anyway.

While looking for that flasher, I went and checked the fuses again and the blinkerer fuse was out. Now I could have sworn I had checked that fuse a few weeks ago while I was at Autozone and it was OK. But it was blown this morning and when I replaced it, the signals worked. But if the signal fuse was blown from the very start of the problems, why would the new blinker have worked in the first place?

Anyway, it's working for the moment, I'm curious to see if it keeps working. LOL. I have my hopes up but I'm just not sure.

Thanks for posting your answer and that picture by the way!!
