R50 Caliper Bracket? - Interchangeable?

Hey All,

 

I noticed a noise in my Pathy's front end this week was making a grinding noise when driving slow. So this weekend we took it into the garage and checked it out. Come to find out that one of the sliders on the caliper was seized solid, we took it off and tried everything under the sun to get it loose but it was not coming out. So now I am looking for a new caliper bracket, and of course we do this stuff once all the local parts stores are closed for the weekend, lol.

 

My question is are there any other Nissans out there that might have an interchangeable bracket that will fit the R50's? If so what are they because it might my search a little easier.

You didn't tell us the year of the Pathy, so this is what I have:

 

There are three different numbers from 96-2000. The break down is as follows:

96 to 6/97

7/97 to 11/98

12/98 to 2000

 

Since they all take the same pad number (D691), my guess is that the brackets are different as the breakdown indicates. What I do know that the 7/97 to 11/98 bracket has a casting number of 4503 and 14mm mounting holes. The others I'll have to dig a bit deeper. When I get to work on Monday I'll check it out. I believe the brackets are unique to the Pathfinder. The Frontier takes different pads, therefore a different bracket.

 

These brackets are not easily available on the aftermarket. Dorman products does offer some brackets, but not for this model. You may try the dealer, but more than likely you may have to shoot for a "loaded" caliper. This will have the bracket, pads, clips, etc. to do the whole job. Most decent part stores should carry the loaded versions. Figure on $90 to maybe $125 per caliper.

DOH!, sorry the year is a '98.

 

I went to our local parts store that is open on Sunday (Canadian Tire) and they said that they can get the "loaded" calipers and were only a few bucks more than the regular ones. The only down side is that there are none in stock anywhere in the area and it could take a week to order them. I think on Tuesday (Monday's a holiday here this week in Canada) I will try calling some of the parts places and see if they can get some in quicker or have them in stock.
