  1. That's just what I want. Did you get that in the US? Was it a recent purchase?
Yep it was purchased at a dealer in the states. They had to special order it. But it only took about a week. It was about 6 months ago that I got it. Here's the part number 999M1-VK000
  2. The problem with our alarms is that turning the key in the doors/rear hatch will disable the alarm. Try it yourself, instead of pressing the remote to unlock the truck, just insert the key and unlock the door. This does the same thing as pressing the unlock button on the alarm, it unlocks the door and disables the alarm. So if the thief uses a screwdriver and jams in into the keyhole and turns the screwdriver the alarm will disable and the door will unlock. Then he can go right ahead and hot-wire the truck. As far as I know, as long as the door lock mechanism turns (whether by key/screwdriver/slimjiim) the alarm will disable. However, if the guy smashes the window and reaches in and opens the door I believe the alarm does go off. Try it with your window down to check... So basically the alarm is not very useful cause most thief know how it works (note, my gf's 04 jetta works the same way and a thief just did this with a screwdriver...) If the alarm goes off (siren sounds etc.) then you are not able to start the engine (even with the key) until the alarm is disabled, so this is the only positive thing about the alarm.

I'm glad to know of the weakness in the factory alarm. But it seems foolish to give directions on how to steal our Pathfinders on a public Forum.

  3. I his work will probably be top notch, but $700? that seems like quite a bit, it says that des not include headlights... does it include the HID parts?. I have seen this done on VWs and Audis, actually if you search around you can find quite a few DIYs for it. I personally wouldnt worry about re-chroming and black it go with flat black inside, seeing as its not needed anymore because you will have projectors... it would look cooler too.

I would liek to do it to m pathy someday, maybe if I can grab an extra set of headlights to hack up someday.

I didn't think the price sounded that bad. And it does come with the bulbs, ballasts and wiring harness for that price.

He sells the parts separately for anyone that wants to build their own. Parts

  4. And don't take this the wrong way, but your info is crap. That site you linked to is NINE YEARS OLD and is an amateur subjective review of what oil filters that person likes and dislikes. You can't possibly be using that as your main criterion for oil filter quality?

And a larger oil filter does not only provide larger capacity. A monkey could have deduced that much. A larger filter means a larger... internal filter which means more surface area which means more flow (and less pressure). Durr.

Do you also have a Tornado in your intake because your buddy told you it will help better atomize your air/fuel mixture?

I have no interest in getting in a bickering contest with you. Of course that article is not how I came to the conclusion that Fram's entry level filter is crap. It was just a resource that used to try and prove a point. I came to the conclusion that Fram is a bad filter from having seen a number of them fail when I used to work at a garage years ago changing oil.

  5. Here's his reply. He's willing retrofit just about any headlight.

    Alex,

We almost retrofit any headlights OEM xenon projectors, and your 2001 Nissan Pathfinder can be retrofitted with any bi-xenon projectors. I can use Infiniti G 35 or FX 35 bi-xenon projectors, and retrofit them in your vehicle. Also the price is a lot cheaper for me to retrofit your headlight compare to buying the JDM headlights. The JDM are RHD (right hand drive) which means the headlights flare will blind the incoming traffic. The Inifniti Bi-xenon projectors are LHD (Left hand Drive its what we us in U.S.). This means the same flare will go on the right side of the road, instead of the incoming traffic. With that in mind the price will be $695 + shipping. This price does not include headlights, you will have to provide me with a set of headlights to retrofit.

The turnaround time is around 2-10 business day after I receive the headlights and all xenon parts, and another 1.5 months for the custom bezels/shrouds to get chromed and cured.

    Best Regards,

  6. on my wd 21 I use a larger filter, Fram stamps a code for the tread diameter and pich next to all the threads on thier filters. "C2" in this case, I just started opening boxes untill I found a taller filter stamped C2 and the new filter PN was TG3600 (oe PN was TG3682).

I traced that PN back to being for a 2000-2004 Ford foucus among many other vehicles. So Now I have a vehcle to cross reference Oil filter PN's if I wanna go for another brand.

Good info. But why the heck are you using Fram? Don't take it the wrong way but Fram is crap. You should read this.

  7. do you think he would make something like that for the 87-95 models?

I don't know. He hasn't gotten back to me yet about the 99-04. I would be willing to bet though that he can do basically any headlight. He uses the projectors from a 06 Infiniti FX35 and custom fits them into your factory headlights. If and when he gets back to me I will ask about other years.

  8. I don't think it really matters that it's so small... as far as doing a good job filtering. The big gain from a larger filter is oil capacity. That being said I wouldn't mind using a larger filter. Is there room for a larger one? I haven't changed my oil yet.

  9. I've got a 2004 with All-Mode 4wd that is less than impressive in the snow (some of this may be due to the VDC). I was wondering if I could drop a Nissan LSD in the rear axle (not much help, I know) or is it not a compatible axle? I considered putting an ARB in, but thats a little overkill, and a locker in the snow is not always good. Also, I seem to remember that an Xterra LSD is a little "tighter" and may also fit in some Pathys?

    Thanks,

    Steve

My 2001 All-Mode has a LSD. Just make sure it's the same ratio. They came with more than one gear ratio IIRC.

  10. I had this done few weeks ago. He used a Magnaflow muffler with a dual 2" inlet and a single 2.5" outlet. He got rid of the resonator and ran 2.5" pipe over the axle and out the side like stock...but with a nice double walled, angle cut, stainless exhaust tip. So far I like it. It has a nice rumble to it and there is no noticeable drop in torque. I could see losing torque if I ran 2.5" all the way from the exhaust manifolds back.

  11. I wanna do a rear disc brake conversion too. It's funny I've seen this topic come up a few times in searching most people just seem to ask "why would you want disc brakes drums are fine". Honestly I think the brakes are not all that great. My old car 97 Audi A4 had 4 wheel disc and the brakes where superior in every way. My old work van 04 GMC Savana had 4 wheel disc was a lot heavier than my Pathfinder. It stopped better and had a better pedal feel.

There's gotta be a cost effective way to convert to 4 wheel disc.
