Thank you for your reply. My being "not handy" is absolutely true. I had my brother, who is very knowledgeable about these types opf things, go down to the dealership and look at the cable. He said he could fix it himself for about $10.00. I'll take a $890 savings anyday! Apparently, he said the dealership does not use aftermarket parts for such jobs,a nd the only way they could do it, to their specifications, was to replace the entire module/harness whatever its called which would have resulted in a huge bill for me. This is interesting info and I'll keep it in mind next time I have an issue and think about taking it to a dealship for repair. Again, thank you for your reply. - A

Hello all... New member here. I was wondering if anyone had advice regarding having to replace the cable on my 2001 Pathfinder. The lead circular piece of the cable that wraps around the positive post on the battery in my engine has cracked, and the dealership says that to replace it they have to replace an "engine module" that is connected to the cable. They said that to do so they have to "drop half the engine" and the labor will be about $700. The part about $200. Honestly, I was surprised to hear that it would cost $900 to fix. Any ideas? Rip off or legitimate? Thank you for your time.
