  1. @Nd4SpdSe It has made a huge difference to the control off-road. Have switched to using "E7" and it's no longer as jumpy in low range over larger rocks or bumpy tracks. I've also noticed a ~1L/100km improvement in economy driving in "E7" over standard settings 50/50 city/open road driving. I'll use this setting more often than not for every day driving. It feels pretty gutless, but I'm rarely in a rush (especially when heading to work!) Conversely, the instant response when taking off from a roundabout/entering traffic and towing has been great in "U5". @Slartibartfast Did you play with the settings at all? It's very customizable. As mentioned, I found "U9" far too responsive to the extent that I found the trans searching for gears, or not changing up until I lifted my foot. The ability to choose Auto or even revert back to factory settings is also good. It's not for everyone, just my honest feedback.
  2. Update for any R51 owners that are interested. I bought and installed the standard EVC Throttle Controller (above) and WOW, it has completely transformed it. I've used: - "E4" Eco 4 for every day driving which has slightly improved fuel economy. - "A/C" (Automatic Control) for some mild off-roading through some mountain passes. Great for all conditions. - "E9" Eco 9 for some riverbed driving. This mode was perfect for the large rocks and technical driving requiring smooth throttle control. This mode was also great for reversing the trailer. - "U5" Ultimate 5 while towing my trailer. This was the most eye opening. It drove like there was no trailer, throttle response was incredible! Also use this mode when entering traffic at roundabouts, or while overtaking. I found U9 - the highest and most responsive setting - was a little too responsive and spent a lot of time dropping, then searching gears (auto trans). Otherwise, I'd highly recommend it! I'm still after some advice on DPF back exhausts if anybody has experience/an opinion.
  3. Hi all! Any YD25 R51 drivers have experiences with throttle controllers? Looking at this: EVC-IDRIVE THROTTLE CONTROLLER NISSAN PATHFINDER 2005 - 2012 (R51) – iDRIVENZ They seem like a good idea. The increased weight of the accessories have made poor Wags a little sluggish trying to get into traffic and while towing. I like the idea of better throttle response on the road as well as the economy modes, and better control in low range. I've seen YouTube videos on them but I'm after some real world reviews. Whether I get one or not, in the next few months it will be getting a dyno tune, trans cooler and catch can. My second question is whether a DPF back exhaust is actually worth it. I've heard mixed opinions.
  4. 100% recommend an awning. We use ours very often even if it's only as a sun shade for a picnic stop. Looking to upgrade to a 270 degree awning next year but the 2.5x2.5m is great! We store our camping chairs and other items we want to keep dry in bags in the roof box. Bought a camping trailer to carry the tent, electrical and fishing gear and other boxes for longer duration camping. 12V/battery/solar fridge/freezer. Lucky in the R51 to have a 12V socket in the boot to run the fridge. We are a family of 4 with two large dogs so of course our requirements will differ from yours. Good luck and hope you enjoy it. We sure do!
  5. Hi Kiwi! Another R51 owner from Christchurch here. Truck looks great, has been great inspiration for mine. Always wanted to do Le Bons but it’s looking rougher every time I see it in photos or videos. Did you have to winch any sections? Another quick question… where did you get the front recovery points? I have an Ironman Deluxe bar but apparently Ironman don’t stock recovery points for R51 so looking for more options. Cheers
