  1. After all i have read i decided that those wires were most likely Blue lockup. Green solenoid A. yellow solenoid B. Spliced into them just before they enter the g/box , found a +ve feed in the cab, several switches and off for a rest drive. Yes colors are correct. So i set off,found a dirt rd for testing, just in case it did something weird like engage 1st gear at 100ks when i hit one of the switches. All was normal for ten minutes then limp mode locked in 3rd. If i liven up the green wire i get 4th and lockup works normally. If i stop and start from standing it wants to take off in 3rd but if i select 1 on the original shift lever i get 2nd , which is ok to take off in. Then move to D and later hit 4th switch. Im on the road for the moment and later will fit a manual shifter.
  2. On inspection the wires that enter the side of the gearbox, just behind 123NRP are yellow white green blue and black , solid color no stripes. ???
  3. Slartbartfast you are a life saver,,,,,,,, i have been serching litteraly for weeks,,, perhaps its just me and my lack of skill. Its very disheartening when i serch and serch and find nothing productive. Once again you go straight to the needed info,,,,I DO appreciate your help. Im also learning the info is out there im just not looking in the right place. Going on a small holiday, will keep you informed in the near future. Thanks David
  4. Hi I am going to manualise my Auto transmission. I cant find any info on the wire colors as they exit the G/box [also which color is A and B] Do i supply those solenoids with 12v to acuate them or are they turned on by supplying them with an earth. ? Car is a 96 Terrano R50 mr3. Thanks for any info, David
  5. Thanks for the link and info, all your input is greatly appreciated. When i have run out of ideas some alternative paths are just what i need. I hate that feeling of just not knowing,,, thinking i know there is an answer somewhere, i just cant find it. Tried the flashy thing,, might disconnect the battery and see if the same patern comes up. Got short long short short short short long short Hmmm only a total of 8 flashes, a long pause and same pattern of 8 flashes. Thanks David
  6. Hi all,I have 96 Terrano that I have fitted a fly by wire [manual] Injector pump, I should also state that i fitted a chinese QD32 at the same time i fitted the IP. For some reason the Tacho stopped working on change over. Drove great for a month then gearbox started going into limp mode where it would lock in 3rd gear,, take off in 3rd and just stay there. It would never do it cold, every time i now use it it drives normaly for about 15 to 20 minutes ,then limp mode. If i stop and turn the engine off, then restart its fine for a few minutes then limp mode. I wondered if it was temperature, so fitted better A/T cooler,,,,,, no change. Replaced throttle pos. sensor,,,,,, no change, note i altered the throttle so it opperates the fly by wire injector pump and retains TPS for auto gearbox. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks David
  7. Thanks ,i have the starter removed at the moment ,but on mates Patrol, found neutral in transfer box and it gives the same things. Doing the engine swap plus mechanical IP i seemed to have so many problems i thinkn i just got brain fade. Thanks again. I will see if buzzing noise gives any troble when i get the starter back in. Immediatly after starting there was a crash of starter to flexplate then ok , I thought the starter may not be far enough forwards and not disengaging completly, on removing i calculated there was 4mm gap between starter and flexplate at rest ,,, so ? ,ordered a new starter and well see
  8. So ETi TD27 engine died. Got hold of new QD32 engine and manual IP. Hmmm, new engine has 7 bolt crankshaft instead of 6 bolt,,,,, got a flexplate from Bulgaria but holes for Torque coverter wer just a bit out, drilled to suit plus had to fit spacers for flexplate gap. [ ended up 2.7mm ] Started the new engine,,, sweet,,, drove forwards a few meters , and back stopped, started a few times. Started engine, , put it into D nothing , R nothing then went to go back to P and it would not go ,, grinding like i was trying to put a manual into gear with no clutch. One thing i have noticed that im not sure but dont think was happening before,, when i move the Throttle position sensor , something goes click, there is a buzzing [ i think from the gearbox] for acouple of seconds, then stops. Note, I left the electric TPS incase it controlled the gearbox and duplicated another wire to opperate the manual IP. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks David
  9. Glad to be part of the forum and help others, as you do I have turned to this forum as I have some problems I cant solve and am reaching out for some help.
