  1. Just wondering if I can put the coilovers from my fj cruiser on our 98 pathfinder who currently has the AC coils with the KYB GR2 struts. and the lengths look pretty close, the tire size is the same but not sure about the geometry/clearance. I know it wouldnt be bolt-on but if I had a top plate fabed up and the lengths are the same...... has anyone attempted this at all? this just came to mind since I have new coilovers for the FJ and need a new home for the relatively new stock ones. This will be a worthy project!

  2. Yeah I was just reading the new Summit catalog, and they have one in there. They also said do it in a non food prep oven. How hot do you set the oven?

bake @ 400 for 30 minutes. Im guessing they only cooked food in the oven before I acquired it and was relatively clean. After the first bake session, I noticed a heavy brown stain on the top of the oven door. Im guessing the fumes cant be good for anyone. If your looking for a divorce... Do It!

  3. Well it is on there the thickest they recomend. It looks 100% covered. As long as you take your time with the prep.... it should last as long as anything else. helps when you buy the right powder too. Ill let you know if it fails me.

  4. I finally had a chance to use my favorite christmas gift, the Craftsman Powder Coat Gun. Thought I'd start off small so I did one 3/4" shackle to test it out. WOW! Easy to do.

1st. prep shackle with wire brush or pressure abrasive to remove any paint

2nd. clean surface with solvent. I used mineral spirits.

3rd. hang from oven rack, attach ground wire to hanger wire, and spray coating surface evenly.

4th. bake in oven for 10 minutes to bake then 20 minutes to cure it

Turns from powdery surface to a nice glossy texture. I am using "signal red" for my shackles to match my hi lift.

I know what your about to say...PICS? ya ya ya Ill post them once it gets out of the oven.

I plan on doing anything that will fit into my oven... look for posts on each part!

  5. It has been 3 months since the lift has been installed. At first it would knock after every bump/pothole/speedbump and I thought it was just the new springs breaking in or being a little to HD. It has gotten better but it still bangs when driving over speed bumps. I know the tires are not hitting and the sound is isolated in the front end. Everything is torqued to spec. I know the OME lift springs have to be installed in a certain direction and Im sure who installed them was not aware of any direction (cuz I asked them).

Any thoughts or insight to what is banging or how the springs should be sitting?

  6. I purchased the Scan Gauge II for my FJ Cruiser and went for the extra cable for our Pathfinder. When you fill your tank, reset the Gauge and how many litres added. now it will read absolutely accurate. best $150 mod I added.

  7. how long has it been on? my wifes had trouble shifting out once. i tried speeding up then leting it downshift and still stayed on. it eventually went off after a nice quick throw of the shifter. i changed the fluids in the T-case and havent had the problem since. i dont know how she got it stuck becasue everytime i shift it, realy quick throw, it comes on and off no prob. hope something in there can help you.

  8. Well it looks like I'm going to have to grind a little in the wheel well. when cranked right, the toyo's rub a tad. oh, and the rear end is swayin all over til i get custom disconnects made up. it atually looks like it rides higher than the fj. for now anyways til the springs give a lil.

this board is great for info!

oh...and the FJ has been beaten since day one. i hate the looks i get from other owners who would never take it off pavement. if it comes with a factory locker...it goes offroad. period!

  9. so she wanted to be able to play too...nice but mild set-up. stripped the dash from my old chilly (rip), Alpine CD, typeX + sub, 265 75r 16 Toyo Open Country AT's on Helo Max 6 wheels, OME springs, KYB struts & Bilstein rear shocks, all new chrome. After I wrote my old one off, she had to get the same year. dunno why? likes the style i guess. will post pics after the allignment.
