I did some searching and found some posts of what my problem/symptom might be.. I was driving one day and all of a sudden it was a small bang/thud like it popped out of gear... had to coast to the shoulder. None of the gears work, doesn't matter what the transfer case is in... motor jus revs. It was all of a sudden and it wasn't the dreaded reverse signs of going out that your transmission is going to die thing...
So i've read that it could be either be input shaft or the torque converter. Anyone care to chime in that has had this type of thing happen to them.
Also has anyone changed an input shaft on an auto? Difficult? I've done motor swaps, mustang t5 tranny rebuilds, etc... so i am mechanically inclined..

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but my pathfinder did the samething today... but out of curiosity, where can i get a tc from? i tried checking napa and checkers online but they have no listing.. maybe it's an online thing and have to call for the part...

I hate to sound ignorant, but where is the burp button and what is the burping procedure?
I'm scheduled to drop it off tonight for a flush and fill. Thought I may try burping prior.
how i do it is make sure the radiator cap is the highest point in the cooling system..(park it on an incline or jack the front up a little) then open it and start the car and run it till it gets to normal op temp to when the thermostat opens and allows coolant to start flowing throughout the block.. you'll start to see it bubbling and stuff.. pretty much when it stops bubbling is when the air is out..then turn off and cap.. don't forget to fill the overfill tank..

make sure you have an alternator strong enough to push it.. and that 80A relay.. it sucks some juice when it kicks on.. had on in my mustang kept that suckah cool..on low.

I had someone tack weld the brackets... those damn things are flimsy and didn't hold the bumper up worth a crap...

that's an idea..
i can try cut a slot for a flathead screw driver. i think there's enough metal to make a groove to not mess up that round piece on the outside part..

I've tried searching but couldn't find any posts on how to remove them. I used a 12mm wrench to try and take the ball off but the whole thing spins. There's nothing to grab it from spinning while I loosen the nut. Is there a trick to this? Thanks.

Did a little wheeling yesterday but need to upload the pics when I get home from work today. Still didn't re-index the t-bars...rather when out to have fun instead of work on the truck..hahaha.. I went to test out the MT's and the OEM manual hubs which worked like a charm.
few far inbetween....I've come to the conclusion that.... I want to go SAS...but parts here in hawaii are limited...

Yup all I have is Park.. no other gears work..
maybe this weekend i'll have time to drop the trans and see if it's the torque converter or the input shaft..
