Looks like a clean starting point! Not sure what the danger zone was, but some early R51s had issues with the tranny cooler splitting inside the rad--something to look into and consider bypassing that cooler or replacing the rad. IIRC the VQ40 had some timing chain guide issues as well, something else to look into.

Hey all, I live in The PNW (Pacific Northwest), USA. I snowboard, rock climb, and hike throughout the mountains in Washington and Oregon. I just purchased a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder LE V8 4WD (R51) with 115k miles. I’m new to Nissan and hoping it will last 250k miles as my project outdoor car, so I’m looking to learn from others on this forum. I want to rig it up, so I can reach some trails that I haven’t been able to make in the PNW. I’m also considering getting a light RV trailer to tour around the US with my 2 dogs . I also want it to look badass when I drive through the city. Here are some photos of it stock when I purchased it:

To start, I’m having Accessory Outfitters in Portland put on an ARB suspension kit lifting it 2.5”-3” to prepare for some 33s. Rose City dip is going to plasti dip my emblems, trim, grill, and stock rims Matte Black.
