  1. Someone posted some pics the other day of a pathfinder with an ARB winch bumper. So, off I went to the ARB website to see what I could find. There are a few things for the older pathfinders, and plenty of stuff for everything else under the sun, but no bullbar/ winch bumper for the 05-08 pathys. I called ARB and they told me the pics have most likely been photoshopped b/c they haven't developed one for the newer pathy yet.

  2. Just finished a 250 mile Sunday family day in the mountains type of trip, with 6 adults, a large kid and about 50 pounds of ice and coolers, likely something just north of 1200 lbs of weight. AC was on at 2 most of the day, about a 20 mph headwind for about half the trip, with winds at about zero in the afternoon, so no tail winds to help back. About 50 miles of the 250 was driving slow through resort areas, some town driving, etc, and according to the trip counter averaged 24 mpg.

The truck only has 5,000 miles. The oil was changed two weeks ago, the air filter is very clean, and the tire pressure is up and filled with nitrogen. The gas mileage has increased quite a bit this weekend though...a little more highway driving.

  3. The original tires on the SE are 265/70/16.

As far as the de-restriction of airflow theory?!?!? I don't buy that.

I had larger tires, K&N, Flowmaster, and a Hypertech programmer on my 04 z71 tahoe. I also had a Yakima Mega Warrior on top, and I was getting about 22mpg on the highway...Way better than anyone was getting with their stock rides. I did each of those mods indidually and watched the mileage climb.

I asumed that the same would happen with the Pathy, but I'm seeing that my results are getting worse...doesn't make sense!!!

  4. I've heard it takes a little while to break in the pathfinder, but my mileage is getting worse. I put larger tires on it, and I know that will hurt it a little, but I was averaging about 15.7 w/ 285/70/16 tires, and now I'm down to 14.1 mpg with the same tires. I have 5,000 miles on the vehicle, and the tires have been on for about 4600 of that. What's going on? Any suggestions or comments?

I also have a K&N air intake system, and a Flowmaster 3-chamber muffler. What kind of mileage are y'all getting with the stock tires? Maybe I'll go back to them, or at least something similar.

My Pathfinder is an 07 4x4 if that helps any. Thanks!!!

  5. Actually, you're probably better off w/o the Bose system. I had it in my tahoe and it was fantastic. The Bose system in my pathy, however, is not that great. For about the same price as what you get from nissan, you can get an unbelievable aftermarket system from an audio installer. I used to install stereos back in high school, and I recently spoke with a buddy of mine who still installs about the quality of factory systems. He reminded me that companies such as Bose, Rockford Fosgate, Altec Lansing, Infinity, etc... all sell their leftovers to car companies for installation in their vehicles. So, when you pay $3000 for the premium system with navigation, you're actually getting a system that's outdated by 3-4 years. Also, you may have heard the saying: "No highs, no lows...must be a Bose". Well, Bose makes some great stuff, but car audio is definitely not their specialty. In fact, much of the equipment they put in cars from Bose are actually meant for home use, usually meant to be housed in a solid wood cabinet. So, save your dough...get an aftermarket. You can't go wrong with Alpine or Kenwood. The downside is that you can't finance it with the cost of the vehicle, but then you're not paying the extra finance charges and interest either.

Thank you guys. I think I'm going to get rid of the stock stereo and go for the Alpine Navigation System with the aux connection,it is real cool it has bloothooth and all that stuff. I'm also installing a dvd player so my daughter can stop messing around in the car also new speakers since my Pathy did'n come with the Bose system. I don't want to screw anything in it so I'll let a professional handle it. I'll send you pics from the before and after. I think that will do the job. There are 2 very important things I should have gotten at the begining with the car:

    1.Leather seats

    2.Bose 6 CD system

So anybody buying a new Pathy think about those 2 "things" before making a decision.

I know once you get something no matter what it is after a while you want something better. It's ok next year if I can I'll get one with all the extras.

    See ya.

  6. UPDATE!!!

I got my pathy back yesterday. They replaced the A/C condensor, the carpet, the back seat, the leather on the front seats, repaired the back door, and took out the iPod adapter. Everything seems great so far, so we'll see. Maybe I'll keep it, but I'm not going back to the dealership where I had my oil changed!

  7. I had one installed from Nissan, but it didn't work. I went to a local stereo shop and they told me they take them out all the time, and they don't even sell any iPod adapters anymore b/c they don't work. The best one I've seen and heard is from Kenwood, but you have to have their head unit for it to work. Your best bet is just to plug it into the auxilary input and leave it at that.

  8. I suppose so...I never had any problems like this with the service and products I've owned from Chevy.

Um... you already BOUGHT American made.

Your Pathfinder was made in Smyrna, Tennessee.

So, you're thinking about going Mexican or Canadian, then?

  9. UPDATE....It's getting worse!!!!

I took it in yesterday to get it's first little oil change (kinda like a child's first haircut)

Well, I pulled out of the garage this morning to find a puddle of oil underneath...probably about 2 quarts.

I've had it!!! I called the dealer and told him I'm bringing it back. That's 2 too many bad experiences with the Nissan service department in two months. Sorry guys, but I'm out...I'm going back to American made!

  10. OK guys, help me out here.

Nearly 2 months ago I was the proud new owner of a brand-spankin' new SE Pathfinder. Now, I'm the disappointed owner of a 2 month old pathfinder that seems to be falling apart. water has been soaking into the passenger-side floor board for a couple weeks now, and I had to go out of town last week before I was able to take it back to the dealership. So, now it smells awful, and I'm pretty sure the carpet will have to be replaced. The water is coming from the A/C, and changing the settings on the A/C doesn't seem to change the results. Well, today I took it to the dealership to get the oil changed and have the problem checked. I had to make an appointment to spend my day off having my brand new pathfinder repaired...I should be spending my day off PLAYING in my new Pathfinder!!! Well, as I was leaving, another gentleman stormed into the dealership absolutely furious that his 1 month old pathfinder was doing the same thing. Turns out, he's heard the same complaint from several others, and so had the shop manager!!!!

So, there's obviously some problem with the new pathfinders for which there isn't yet a solution. On top of all that, the back driver's side door handle doesn't always work; my back seat doesn't fold properly; when I flip up the back seats to let in passengers to the third row, there's a little piece of plastic that has managed to rip the leather on the back of the front seats.; the $2000 PREMIUM sound system pretty much sucks; the iPod adapter I payed an extra $350 for hasn't worked since I bought the vehicle; Oh...and the gas mileage is way worse than what I was getting in my much larger, much more powerful tahoe!!!

I called the dealership from whom I purchased my pathfinder and told them of the problems I was having, and that I was ready to bring it back to them for a refund. I shouldn't have to continue paying for a product that has some obvious problems that seem far from being solved. I'm sure the dealership will probably tell me they can't give me a refund, but it doesn't seem fair that my vehicle is depriciating at an astounding rate because of some poor craftsmanship, and then I'm just going to have to chalk it up to bad luck. Has anyone else had any similar problems?

I originally took my pathfinder back to the dealership to have the iPod connector removed because a local stereo shop informed me that none of the iPod connectors work properly. I also told them about the leak, and asked them to have it fixed. I waited for about two hours for the mechanic to come back and tell me that he had ordered a new iPod adapter (not what he was asked to do, nor what I was told would happen.) He also informed me that he thought the seal was bad around the passenger side door, so he had ordered a new seal, and I would have to return the following week to have it replaced. I'm not a mechanic, but it's obviously not the door seal! I'm heart-broken!!!! If this is the way Nissan is going to be, I don't want anything to do with them!!!!

  11. I'd like to replace my worn stock BFG Rugged Trails with some new goods. Hoping to put some black steelies on my ride. Can someone help with the right size (bolt pattern/offset etc. . )? I figure I'd stay with 16", but if 15" works with the brakes that is cool too.

Also, in addition to the rims, can someone recommend a tire size to go with the wheels? I know this is subjective depending on what setup you have, but I wanted them to stick out a little bit, but no rubbing if possible.

I'm not sure of the exact bolt pattern, but I found several websites that have all that information. There aren't many choices out there for decent rims for the Pathfinder, unless you want spinners or something crazy. I wanted to go with some 18" or 20" teflon rims, but I can't find any that will fit. Anyway, I went with a 285/70/16 on my 07. They rub just a very tiny little bit when I turn on an angle, but the fender is VERY flexible, so there's no damage at all. The tires look great. I went with the Toyo Open Country tires.

  12. My impressions..

    OK

One of the guys at work got a new 07 back in January. I have driven it a few times around town and even driven it on dirt roads with him.

I now always call it his minivan.

    Hey...wait a second!!!

I have an 07, and it's great. Granted, I had to add a few goodies under the hood, but it's got quite a bit of power, and now that I have some 33's, it's quite a bit more capable off-road!

  13. i'm lookin to put some new wheels and tires on the pathy, i'm lookin to go a bit larger than stock without having to trim or remove anything. anyone know how large i can go without having to do that?

I just got an 07 pathfinder and put on some 285/75/16's

That's about the same as a 33" tire. They fit pretty snug, and rub a little when turning on an angle, but the rubber inside the wheel-well is very flexible, so it doesn't do any damage at all!

You can see pictures of mine on the new members section.

  14. OK, OK, OK...Here's a few pics. Remember now...I've only had this thing a few weeks.

Turns out the guys who put in my Flowmaster did a really crappy job and left a few pin-holes. So, gotta get that fixed.

I decided to sell a bunch of crap on Ebay to pay for my next mod...a Kenwood in-dash GPS/ DVD with connections for bluetooth, iPod, and a few other little goodies as well.

  15. Hey guys,

I just got my pathfinder a few weeks ago. I got an 07 SE 4x4, and I've already modified it quite a bit. I put on some Toyo Open Country 33's right away, and then a K&N cold air intake. I moved my Yakima rack from my Tahoe that I traded. I just put on a Flowmaster yesterday...not real sure I'm liking that little mod though. Being used to the roar of my tahoe, this one almost sounds like the cars on "Fast and Furious"...not quite as loud though, just a little more sound and power than it had from the factory. I'll send some pics soon.
