  1. Looking for information regarding a manual transmission interchange for my 92 4x4 pathy. I thought I read about it somewhere but cannot find it now. IT listed year models I think up till 2004 but not sure. Any help would be appreciated as I feel the need to replace miner various noises. Thanks in advance.

  2. Is that the part that is splined and bolts to the lower control arm? If so I think I still have them somewhere in the shed off my 95 hardbody and they look the same as my 92 pathy parts. If that is what you are needing PM me and I'll look for them. Thanks Ken

  3. I'm getting ready to rebuild my original engine. I found a groove

In the rear seal area possibly from the seal lip. Is there a sleeve kit available? Any recommendations on an overhaul kit. Also a question about the lower

Crankshaft timing belt gear removal. Thanks for your help.

  4. Thanks RedPath88 I'm new to the site and haven't worked out the search option yet. My fuel gauge doesn't work so I have to calculate when I need to put fuel. I was reading about the fix for my problem. Something about parts from Radio Shack but still not comfortable with the construction of the parts. I haven't called Nissan to get a price of the regulator that I need. Thanks again for your help. Ken

  5. I just finished installing my 95 vg30e into my recently purchased 92 pathy. My 95 didn't have the egr valve like the 92 did. Should I be using the ecm from the 95. Not sure if it matters, truck seems to run fine so far. Only the first week on the road though.

  6. Ok, the purpose for an EGR valve is strictly for emmisions, it scavenges from the exhaust and routes the spent gasses back into the combustion chamber to lower emmisions at high speed. Usually above 30 mph, if you wanna call that high speed. The EGR control valve is opened up by the ECU at speed with just the purpose of lowering the amount of fuel being burned and lowering emmisions in the process. It should have little to no affect on mileage, but, could gain power on the top end because the engine is actually burning a cumbustion chamber full of fuel and not fuel and spent gasses.

The EGR has absolutely zero to do with starting of the vehicle due to its function as a piece of emmisions equipment. The piping under the upper plenum that the coolant runs through serves to warm the air coming into the throttle body on cold starts, which helps with drive ability and low speed emmisions.

I've also thought about doing an EGR delete on my 95, but, to deal with the CEL, I'd leave the EGR control solenoid connect so the ECU thinks it has a working EGR.

The older OBD1systems do not have a way for the ECU to check EGR function, that came later with the OBD2 systems and fully electronic EGR valves.

Hope this clears some things up.

  7. Thanks for the help, Slartibartfast and Thabigperm. I was also wondering about the knock sensor from the 92 because I didn't see a place for it on the 95, any thoughts on that? And yes I'm doing the front and rear seals, as well as the plugs and that bypass hose in the middle of the engine. My clutch kit arived today also. I was also reading about putting the larger exhaust studs in since several are already broken. I was looking into some headers also. Thanks again for the helpful advice.

  8. Hi, can anyone tell me if I can put my 95 vg30e into my 92 pathfinder. I'm not sure if I will be able to put the ecm from my d21 into the pathy. Is the connector for the ecm the same or will I need the harness from the 95? Also the 95 was an automatic and the 92 is a 5 speed, will the engine accept the pilot bushing and standard flywheel without any mods. Thanks in advance for your help. Any other issues that you can think of will be appreciated. Thanks.

  9. Hello my Nissan loving brothers and sisters. Although I am a new owner of a pathfinder I'm not new to the off road scene. I have owned a 95 d21 since new. It was unfortunately hit by an uninsured driver about 4 years ago. I kept it in hopes of finding a good body to transplant the engine into. Now finally I found this pathfinder with a blown timing belt. I'm sure you all know what that does to the vg30e. I have the engine out of the 95 and am now disassembling the 92. I will be posting some questions about compatibility of the two. The problems with putting a newer engine into the older body, and also going from auto to standard. Thanks in advance for your time and help.
