  1. okay so a few weeks ago i had to drill out and completely remove my original ignition switch on my 1990 pathfinder. I went online and found a replacement from mexico new for less than 50 bucks. as of right now im starting it with a screwdriver until i can get this issue figured out. The whole ignition cylinder assembly has the wiring coming from the switch itself and another set of 2 wires closer to the key hole which also has a clip on the other end to connect to harness. my question is this can i use an ignition assembly that does not contain the 2 wires close to the keyhole if it mounts the exact same way as the old one? what are the 2 wires for anyways and can i just connect them and tape it up or do they serve a critical function? attached is pics of the problem. the first is my original oem ignition and the second picv is of the 1/2 price replacement. I have the second one which is listed as a replacement for american made versions from my year range. It came from mexico and was like one third of the price of any other aftermarket replacements. please help. probably a simple fix.
