1995 pathfinder 4wd won't work, at all. HELP
Mrd1234 replied to Mrd1234's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
That almost sounds like something to do with the linkage for your 4wd if the light isn't coming on and it's really easy to shift. You need to raise your truck and take a look -
Never seen anything like this before, but the only time my pathfinder will run is if I keep the key turned over and pedal to the floor(i know extremely bad for the starter) any idea why? Got it kinda wet in the river a couple of days ago and hasn't ran since. Replaced oil plugs distributor cap maf sensor

For VG30E with slotted switch: Turn the 'diagnostic mode selector' screw on the ECU fully clockwise. The check engine light will go out. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the screw fully counter clockwise. 3. After it blinks both LED's 3 times move the toggle switch back to the on position. After about five seconds it will start to output out the diagnostic codes as with the 4-cylinder ECU. Note each code as it is displayed, the red LED flashing once for 10's, and the green LED flashing once for 1's. Meaning: One red flash and two green flashes means code 12.--------- when it says after both led's blink three times turn toggle switch back to on position. What toggle switch is it talking about, and I remember when I followed those steps up until the three blinks both lights blinked once, then twice. Not making any sense

I'm seriously about to set it on fire. It's getting pretty frustrating

Any other ideas? I really need to get this thing started as it's still sitting down at the river! Really sucks
-
Yeah that how to isn't examine my ecu properly as there is only a screw to turn and it says there's supposed to be a toggle switch too. The ecu has been sitting three days also
-
I read one of those and it wasn't similar to my vehicle. It said there should be a toggle switch on the side of ecu but there wasn't it just has a screw that says idle control and engine diagnosis if you turn it all the way

Have a 1995 pathfinder, I decided to take it for a drive in the river two days ago( not a good idea) and it died on me. I've had this happen many times before in my chevy but never a Nissan. So I've done a bit of work and still it won't start, I've put in new plugs, replaced distributor cap with another, put on a different mass air flow sensor and changed the oil and put on a new filter. The fuel pump is kicking in and before I changed the plugs and cap it actually ran for five or ten minutes extremely rough, spitting and spuddering and putting out a bit of black smoke. The truck did take on water coming through the passenger side filling up the floors. I understand the ecu is under the seat and there's still a green and red light coming on on it. Could the ecu be fried and causing this problem? After I fired it up when it came out of the water it would only stay running if I kept the key turning over and punching the gas but as soon as I let go of the key it would die. There is a engine light on which wasn't before but I don't have know how to read the codes and I only have a obd2 reader. Any ideas?

1995 pathfinder 4wd won't work, at all. HELP

Wanna thank everyone for your help! Grabbed some used hubs and it worked, slightly. 4wd takes a minute to kick in sometimes but I'm grabbing brand new warn manual locking hubs in a couple weeks. Already managed to sink it in the river and now it won't start XD -

Either way I'm headed to a pick n pull location very quick here and I think I'm gonna grab two or three different sets of Hubs and try them all. Got lots of spare time anyways as it's break up season on the oil rigs XD. -

I took the passenger side hub off earlier to take a look inside. Not exactly 100% sure what it was supposed to look like but from what you guys all have been describing it looked ok, seems like a thin but average amount of grease. Spring and what I'm guessing was the "brake" looked ok. Anyone have a link to what the inside of the hub is supposed to look like? -

I have ready tried my 4wd and I know it is not working, like I said I pulled into some mud and immediately got stuck. Later this afternoon I'm Gonna try giving the hubs a whack with a Malloy and of that doesn't work maybe take them Off and check them out? Is there any other methods I can try? does anyone know of any common issues with these 4wd systems that haven't already been mentioned? -

When I shift it the linkage makes a noise as it goes into place but there's no clunking no nothing. They say usually you can hear the hubs click when they engage but I couldn't hear anything. I drove around to see if it would work but nothing
